Does this version of ICQ have ads? At the download page I read that ICQ2001b was "A Time Limited Free Beta" - does that mean that ICQ will no longer be free? check it out http://www.icq.com/download

I used win98se before accidentally moving onto win2k. When running it i thought it was the worst operating system i have ever used, being frustrated with having to download drivers for nearly every device i was using. After a while i have grown to truly appreciate the power and stability of this operating system. i will keep using win2k for some time to come.

I had the same problem, even when using the latest version of CloneCD. This problem occured when i used RegCleaner(the latest version) to delete unused registry keys, i think RegCleaner deleted one of the keys which CloneCD uses after you register it. Try using one of the older versions of CloneCD without registering it, and see what happens. I fixed this problem by formating and installing win2k again. Although this should be the last resort, i had to do this because my system was far too corrupted to work on any longer.

DON'T USE INTERNAL MODEMS!! They will cause conflicts with other internal devices and are hard to tell whether they are working or not. Go for external modems. It is HIGHLY recommneded that you do. They perform better as well and easier to set-up. I am currently using a 56K 3com U.S. Robotics connecting @ 49.2Kbps

Does anyone know where I can download a demo version of NeroMIX? I hear it is very good.

System Restore is only concerned with system files, and will only restore critical files that r needed by the OS. It will not handle any persoanl user files.

i use the combination of Nero/CloneCD. Originally i used EZY CD Creator, but it was hopeless, not anywhere as good as Nero. Nero wins hands down. btw. has anyone used NeroMIX?

windows 2k does not shutdown or restart at all. after it gives my the message that it is shutting down, the window disapears and leaves me with a blank desktop, and i need to restart manually. although when i get back to windows, it doesn't tell me i need to scan any disks due to an incomplete shutdown. how do i fix this? Note: I tried starting win2k in safe mode but the problem still exists when trying to shutdown/restart.

Quote: Are ... are you using a Norton Antivirus? There have been issues in the past with devldr32.exe (%root%/winnt/system32/devldr32.exe) hanging on shutdown. Move devldr32.exe to your startup folder and that will fix the problem. I am using Norton Antivirus Coporate Edition 7.51.854 Will this have any difference as i did a search for devldr32.exe and it turned up no results.

fixed it. how? do a format and a fresh install.

Firstly goto win2k, control panel > system > advanced > startup and recovery choose the default operating system as win98 and put 0 where it says display operating systems. then OK.

Replace MSVCRT.dll with another one, yours could be corrupted. I can send u my copy of MSVCRT.dll if you like.

it also depends if ur dual booting with other operating systems. say if ur dual booting with win98 or winme then u need to run FAT32 inorder for the other OSes to see ur files.

Netscape is HEAPS good. i'm using Opera 5.12 and it does a VERY good job- but has problems with some Java sites like Hotmail.com . i think Netscape does the job just as well as IE. My only problem is: i try to avoid IE as much as possible- i just don't like Micro$oft in the way they r a monopoly.

i was just reading through my mail when i came to a person that i didn't even know that had sent my an attachment. he told me he needed help with a file and so i needed to download it to have a look. this message was in my Hotmail account and i thought it would be safe to download it since Hotmail uses Mcafee to scan all files b4 it lets the user download it. Mcafee told me that it was virus free and was safe to download it. But guess what? After downloading it, NAV 2001 told me it was a worm. I don't know, but the file's extension was *.zip.ink , maybe that was the reason Mcafee couldn't pick it up. Or maybe that it's just HOPELESS.

firstly, what format is ur Data partition? Secondly in Linux u need to MOUNT ur drives b4 u can see them. If u don't, u will only be able to see ur linux partition. There are heaps of tutorials to mounting ur drive.

Is ur boot partition(c:\) NTFS?
