Does your motherboard have a VIA chipset? If so, this may be the problem with your transfers to disk. The VIA chipsets currently have abug in them that breaks transfer of files over 100MB. Just and idea. -bZj

OK, I'm working on a pricelist for a friend's company in Excel. The standard pricing method is Op*2=x, and Fp~x.95, where Op=Original price and Fp=Final price. So if: Op = $6.00 [6 * 2 = 12] Fp = $12.95 OR Op = $6.75 [6.75 * 2 = 13.50] Fp = $13.95 Is this making sense? Originally, I was using the formula: =(Op*2+0.95), but this gives me $14.45 for the second example above, instead of $13.95. I've searched through the help files for wild cards, as I was thinking something along the lines of this: =IF((2*Op)="_?_.50",(2*Op+0.45),(2*Op+0.95)) Where in "_?_.45", _?_ = Excel's text wildcard, which I can't seem to find - or even find if there is one. So, the question is how would I make Excel check for what comes after the decimal, and add $0.45 vs. $0.95. Or is there some way to work around this, and subtract $0.50 if it goes to $_?_.45? Thanks for any help, -bZj

Yeah, it does look like CUViper is right. I'll be doing more work on it tonight. Thanks a ton, -bZj

I also don't 'do' dual-boots - unless on maybe a second, removable harddrive. But, I've tried to get Mandrake, Red Hat, and even Corel installed on my 486DX/66 to play with repeatedly to no avail. I think it just doesn't have the power to run the bloated thing that Linux has become. Even when I tried to put Red Hat on my main computer, it had huge problems with the video refresh [and it's not like I've got a GF3, StealthIII S540 is an old enough card]. Because of this, I plan on using SuSE for my next test run, b/c it supposedly has the largest amount of drivers of any distro. If I can't get it installed easily, I'll probably just wait until I get some extra cash and pick up one of those happy new SunBlade100s and use Solaris for my *nix experience. -bZj

I didn't know that SETI was multi-threaded. Most ppl that run SETI on dual-proc systems just run two instances of it. Strange, -bZj

Just for grins, where is everyone "calling" from?

From what I understand, it's only available if the USB product manufacturer bothered to write NT4 USB drivers - which would only work for that specific product. But, someone else might have found a way. -bZj

Damn dude, this one loads really fast. I like the way vB works - got used to it at the [H] - but, this has a bunch more toys. All's well so far. -bZj

God, I'm in the wrong business. ;( I never spent more than 1 day downloading a Linux ISO. 768k sDSL ruled... back when I had it. -bZj -
I'm getting this "Server Busy, please click your back button adn try again" page. Like 10 times in a row. Is the new UBB taxing the system a lot more than the older version? -bZj

I think anything under $300 for full retail is fine, when you consider that you can pay $90 for SuSE Linux, which is supposed to be free, and all you get is 60 days of installation support. For all the extra crap you get by going with the de facto standard, I think that much is fine. Hell, I buy processors OEM, software shouldn't be any different. -bZj -
Working so far. I just went through and rated a bunch of ppl, added to my profile [including my picture]. I'm slightly scared by the amount it resembles the 3DFiles board now, but I'll get used to it. I think the buttons to add common mark-up may become useful. Thanks for the board Philip & SHS. -bZj

For this reason, WMA will gain support in OEM markets, but also for this reason, MP3 will never, I repeat, NEVER die, until it is replaced by something similarly law-avoiding. -bZj

Um, do you ever think Revilre? Or perhaps, look up? SHS is one of the owners of this forum. He is far from your average MS-basher. In fact, by keeping up this site, he is more pro-MS than anti-MS. Go back to Sharky's, Revilre. -bZj

Yeah, I noticed that when installing a new dial-up connection yesterday. Tripped me out though. -bZj

Um, the Annihilator is an nVidia based card. I have a "no-problem" video card - the StealthIII S540. 32MB of pure S3 Savage4 Pro+ love. Kind of old, but it works fine without the updated Win2K drivers [but you should get the latest drivers for anything you have], and is OK in 3D [getting a bit old though]. Luckily, this card will be handed down in exchange for either a Radeon, or a KyroII. If I was to 'vote' for a solution for you, I'd look into the Radeons. -bZj

pimpin - if you live that close to your phone company, it would serve you well to ask them for DSL, b/c living that close, you would surely pull 1.5, just like cable. If you specifically want cable, then check www.athome.com - theyll tell you if it's available, and who offers it. Or you could check www.attbroadband.com -bZj

Friday, April 6th, 2001. Cold Friday. Where were you?

Crazy, the cases are estimated around $300 USD, which sounds like a lot, but if you were to get a Lian Li PC70, then anodize it and add the 330W Enermax Whisper PSU that is comes with, you'd easily pass that price, and come up short on features. Hmm... Radeon A-I-W, or ColdForge for my new computer...? When does the screen come up? At boot, or when the screensaver is active? If you want to change it so you are auto-logged in at boot, you'll need TweakUI 1.33 [search Microsoft.com]. If it is coming up when returning from the screensaver, you'll need to uncheck the box under: Desktop > Properties > Screen Saver > Password protected. -bZj
