How much does disabling "Services" actually help s
Halz replied to Se7enFX's topic in Customization & Tweaking
It might... I know that after disabling some of the services on my machine here at home, it could have become abit more unstable in some very heinous situations compared to my machine at work. (I have since turned back on some of the services dealing with the hard drive, parity check, write buffering and what not after one of my SCSIs came very close to dying.. 8) ) -
I'll have to say the boot cd was not made properly... in no instance should your system be calling on the ntldr when it boots from an MS-DOS disk (unless you're planning on running NTFS DOS). The most surefire way of making a cd bootable disk would be by just using nero and telling it... to... make... a bootable CD by doing a floppy disk copy.

A VPN is basically, yes, just like an 'emulated' LAN...

Run aflash.exe with a help parameter, /? (or read the readme!) Also, 1006.003 sounds like a beta BIOS.. however daring you feel, you might just as well be better off with 1005 (the current release)

Shouldn't you be able to examin the network traffic in that time frame? Possibly see if it becomes linear at a certain point..? (you could then trace how many users were on at the point by which it became linear and see if the addition of other users had any effect on the total data transmitted (if you are running a high bandwidth service...)

I've seen the same issue (with 1400+ machines on a 2k domain, some Win2k, some 9x, some everything else) Are the Win9x machines members of your domain? (not the users loging on, the *machines* (by name))

Is there a command or service for the MMC or console (something similar to net view perhaps?) that would allow me to see which sessions are currently opened by my machine? (Note: Not the sessions users have opened under my shares)

I have the option of installing Windows²ººº Professional or Windows²ººº Server... The real question is, what increased functionality could I find in Server over Professional, or, Server over Professional. [edit]In my ignorance, I answered my own question...[/edit] [This message has been edited by Halz (edited 01 August 2000).]
