Problem with Serround option in SB live Value and FPS2000 Sp
deliveryman replied to sababa's topic in Hardware
Hi Nil, In your SoundBlaster Live Value Getting Started manual go to page 5 and it will explain that the 4 speaker system is the surround system. The LiveSurround feature is for the 5.1 Desktop theater speakers. Can't explain why you only get sound out of 2 speakers but the 4 speakers will give you Surround Sound effect. Don't be discouraged. The FourPoint Surround speakers will give you great sound for gaming or just listening to music. Let me know if you have any other questions. you could also go to the Creative FAQ site and to their newsgroup. HTH Curtis -
oldspice, Have been trying everything I could think of but nada yet. will take to office tomorrow to test on a 98 machine. irq5 and I/O 300 are the defaults for the card and I had those settings with no conflict. dono!! I'll keep trying. Thanks Curtis

Does Creative 4Point FPS2000 have problems on Win2k ?
deliveryman replied to sababa's topic in Hardware
sababa, I had them on a SB Live Value at the first but can't remember about the connections. The instructions will guide you on that. Again - enjoy. Curtis -
I looked at the Toshiba since our other notebooks are Toshiba and have had very good luck with them . This time I didn't feel they had the right mix of components for my needs. Curtis

Hi sababa, Don't remember what I paid for sure but probably$120.00 to $130.00( They are now $110.00 from buy.com but with shipping you got a good deal). I have mine on a SB Live card and have no problems with it or LiveWare 3 W2K. Was even able to do the modified W98 LW3 on the W2K beta testing. I'm sure you will like them. Enjoy! Curtis -
Thanks oldspice, I'll give it a try. Went into the registry last night and all the final values ( in paernthesis ) were correct the string to that value were not the same as in the .ini file. I'll keep at it. I was surprised that your system found the card. mine doesn't and the jumpers are removed. TFTH Curtis

Since I use the InoculateIT full version at business and home I am partial to it. I have tried the Personal Edition before putting the full system on at home and was very pleased with it. Doesn't have all the bells and whistles that full has but you can configure it to download virus signatures at periodic times. Also can subscribe to an email newsletter that will alert you to a new signature update. Forgot - www.cai.com for free download [This message has been edited by deliveryman (edited 05 August 2000).]

Does Creative 4Point FPS2000 have problems on Win2k ?

Yea, they work real good. I have mine at the office now (can't turn them up - blast the staff away - not supposed to have them at work). Basically I am very pleased with them. At home I have gone to the 5.1 2500 theatre system. Very happy with that. -
Beeker50, Look at the IBM Think Pad A20. They have the features you want and have suprisingly good prices IMHO. I think it is the latest copy of PC Mag that has a review on all the different notebooks. HTH Curtis

Hi oldspice, This was the post I was looking for. I had the drivers emailed to me earlier this week. Then took me 3 days to find the card since I figured it was a lost cause. Anyway installed it last night and all I get are error messages about not enough memory (512 mg) Registry parameters not correct, device won't start, etc. Can you give me any help or advice? post to BB or send direct to me. TIA Curtis

Hi sababa, Have had the system on my machines while doing beta testing on W2K over a year ago and have had no problems with them. HTH Curtis -
Hi SunnyLad81, Sorry but for now we are out of luck. HP has dacided not to support DJ printers that came out before W2K. So all we have are the poor excuses for drivers on the W2K CD. I haven' done any searching for 720 compatible drivers but the 970 drivers from HP work in the 880 with most of the functionality recovered. HTH Curtis

Sorry, if this makes anyone mad. I am looking into getting a new Notebook/laptop. I am looking for a system with the following features; P3 500-600 Mhz 64-128mc ram, DVD Drive, 13"-14" Active Matrix screen, mouse pad(no eraserhead control)will run Win2K Pro(if possible, not a must) price range of up to 00.00 I was looking at the Sony Vaio Notebooks, does anyone have any good knowledge of them? Are they good, reliable, dependable, a quality product? Can someone recommend some other goog brands of notebooks with the above features. How are the HP Omnibooks? Or the Compaq Notebooks? All help is greatly appreciated, Thanks in advance for all replies. Are their any good sites to read unbiased reviews of Notebooks? Beeker50, Look at the IBM Think Pad A20.
