I am running Win2k on a p3 933, soyo sy-6vca (via133a chipset) w/4in1 4.24, sblive platinum w/liveware 3, and a leadtek geforce ddr w/ detonator3 6.18. UT is patched to 4.28, Unreal is patched to 2.26final. UT runs beautifully on this setup at1024x768 with 16bit color. But it crashes randomly. Very randomly - no set time, no set action, no matter WHAT settings I change. I have done everything I read about for improving stability (including turning off use directsound). Nothing works. The game is very prone to locking up completely. And the only way out is to reboot (once it locks up). Needless to say, this is very annoying. Unreal does exactly the same thing. I am running both of them using D3D accelaration. Using OpenGL accelaration causes the game to crash back to windows right after loading with no error message. I do not have servicepack1 or dx8 beta installed. Any suggestions? ...thanks ------------------ ...verruckt http://www.verruckt.f2s.com

I have Unreal 2.26final and Unreal Tournament 4.28 installed... my system: p3 933, via133a mobo, 256MB RAM, leadtek geforceDDR, sblive and Win2k. Using liveware 3 for win2k and detonator 6.18 1) on both games, using the opengl drivers - the game starts to load and then crashes back to windows. 2) is it just me or does the "timedemo 1" setting have little to do with actual game speed/playability? I ran some tests to see if I could get away with 32bit color, and 800x600 was 60fps, 1024x768 was 56fps, and 1024x768x16bit was 63fps. Yet anything in 32bit color was seriously lacking in game playability (not quite as smooth as I'd like...) compared to 16bit color... 3) turning on all the eye candy seems to bring about (or cause, no idea yet) increasingly frequent lockups. IE, the game completely locks up (though the cd music keeps playing) and the only way out is a hard reboot. if I turn off high detail actors, shiny surfaces, trinlinear filtering, dynamic lighting and 3d hardware sound I either don't get lockups or I get the so infrequently as to not play long enough to get them. thanks for any help... ------------------

I like to play shogo on my win2k machine. I recently did a fresh install of win2k and of shogo. Specs: p3 933, via 133a based mobo, sblive platinum, leadtek geforceddr, liveware3, detonator 5.22, no service pack yet... I have always had the problem that shogo would crash randomly. If I check nothing under the advanced options tab the game crashes less. If I enable "enable poly gap fixing" it becomes VERY unstable. Are there any BIOS or driver settings that will help? Such as the AGP apeture setting in the BIOS, or the "enable alternate depth buffering technique" setting in the driver settings dialogue? thanks... ...verruckt
