hey.. i an thinking of buying a new computer in a month or two (when quad-core will be available) i would like to know what technologies the motherboad/soundcard/video card/NIC should support and if i should wait because maybe something new is just around the corner and it's better to wait another month than to buy right now. with the new processors and Vista i would really appreciate your thoughts. thanks in advance !!!

thanks.. i was going to wait for quad core...but waiting for vista to make its impact on current hardware is a good advise.. if there are more ideas i would like to hear them ..

i'm sorry if this question seems warez related but it is really not, it is a technical question. there is a disk called 5 in 1 that contains all of the 5 office system 2003 in one cd. my question is how come a 700mb cd contains more than 1GB of data ??? i burned the iso and open the cd , selected all files ,right clicked and selected properties ang got more than 1 gb of files.. how can that be ???? ;(

hey... i'd like to start programming in a windows (xp..) environment. can you recommend a language to start with ???
-
i know this might seem a stupid question... the pc environment is not a stranger to me ,but i don't deal with networking. my question is what is a network adapter and when one is needed ??.. i personally connect to the internet through a usb adsl modem but i know alot of people are buying new computers with a network adapter built it - HOW does that help them connect to the net using Cable or ADSL ? is it Hardware or also Software ???.... to sum up : is it needed for the internet ?? pc to pc connection??? what kind of a connection requires it ? hardware or software..? thanks!!! ;(
-
now i get it...i think... according to that logic...my ADSL modem which connects to my pc via USB has an internal nic ... am i right ??
-
jimbo ....you Live Long and Prosper! i learnt a lot from your answer...thanks ..!! 8) now ...why does a cable connection to the internet requires a nic and a modem ?? you said a nic is the high speed modem...or did i confuse something..
-
i missed something... what is a NIC ?
-
so...in very simple words...a network adapter is like a decoder ??? if it is ,then it's like a modem only with larger bandwidth..isn't it ?? and then again...if it is like a modem why another modem is needed ??? why does a Cable modem needs to be connected to a network adapter while an ADSL modem (mine at least) does not ?? and what is a hub ?......physically ?? i know i'm asking a lot ....i'm new at this..

thanks !!!........

now you're talking business... can you give me more details....???

if they were compressed ...would the files still be named the same ??? would the disk look exactly like it would if it were not compressed ??

hey all... i recently added more ram and now i have 512MB of ram. i disabled the page file and everything was fine until one day i played a 3D game and there was a virtual memory problem.. i then turned the page file back on..BUT here comes my problem, i set it to 384-768MB on Drive E and a page file is initally created on Drive E , BUT on the next boot the page file is on Drive C and its size is 768MB..!! how can i permanently set it on Drive E ??? (I DuaL Boot, and win xp is on drive E)
-
setting the page file on drive E and setting pagefile of size 0 on drive C did fix the problem. i hope it stays fixed. thank's all.

i log in as an admin (my account is set as admin). i don't understand...what do you mean when you ask "Does System have access?".. the unwanted 768MB pagefile.sys on c:\ is in use and i can't delete it, not from XP anyway..

windows xp and sound problems.......
Vulcan replied to RavishingRocket's topic in Everything New Technology
do you have any modems installed??? sometimes a speakerphone modem will install a virtual audio device that will (i don't know why..) replace your sound card as the default sound device. go to the control panel, sound speech & audio deviced, sound and audio devices. go to the audio tab and check what is your default sudio device. hope that helps. -
sampson....!! i open regedit....and guess what ..it is already set as " E:\pagefile.sys 384 768 "... i don't know what's going on...
-
my other os is win me... pagefile.sys is created by a NT based system.. win 9x/me use a win386.swp file... sampson...i try it and let you know...
-
no... all of the drives are FAT32.

hey... i just installed the new nvidia drivers and i can't find where i can enable TV out on my geforce4 mx .. the "nview" tab is missing in the display properties can you help me..?
-
it's ok... apparently with the new driver , only when i first connect the tv to the card and then open the display properties, the "nview" tab appears and enables tv-out... with the older drivers it was always there.. thanks!!
