and where would i find these reg fixes -
well i get it too. only during times of fast motion. but i put it down to my MVP3 chipset - i fecked with some settings in the bios (namely PCI stuff and "PCI Access #2 Retry #1") and then it worked fine - until i upgraded the bios and now its back.

Ok im looking for an add-on tv out card - ive seen some advertised but they are all isa - i dont have any isa slots. So does anyone know where i can get a cheap PCI/EXTERNAL VGA to PAL scan converter. I live in the uk so i has to be able to handle PAL not NTSC Kev

i had a prob similar to this a couple of times - i hadn't installed the AGP drivers (the first time i had installed 98 ones) so install win2k agp's and see what happens

Power doesn't shut off at shutdown
@~@:~KEV~:@~@ replied to Rabscuttle's topic in Customization & Tweaking
ok - if i turn on ACPI when installing - it wont install - it locks up at the very first Starting Windows 2000 bit right at the start of the installation - if i install it as standard pc then turn on APM it chashes on shutdown - with an error somthing like irq_not_less_or_equal_to and i think it mentions the kernel too HELP -
Ok ive got a hollywood plus and im running the version 2 drivers (build 129) i have downloaded zone selector BUT ive heard that zone selector wont work with these dirvers. Can u tell me if the drivers do work with zone selector before i hack my bastard DVD(pioner 105s) and buy some r1 dvd's Ta

hey calm down - it works now - and a tech support board is supposed to cater for everyone including oveclockers!
-
i would say up the voltage! my k6-3 450 is running at 500 and when at 2.3v it seemed fine untill you had run hl for about an hour (cpu hits about 45 degrees c) then it locked up - upped the voltage to 2.4 and its fine - so try it - it will work - check overclockers.com for better cooling etc

hmm wel i have an sb live and im running standard pc and i also have to power off manually!!! So you buy a live thinking its one of the best sound cards and: 1. You get a FECKING annoying crackle continusly 2. You cant autopower off. BUT my mate has a machine nearly identical to mine and his deosnt power off either but he doesst have a live he has some shitty ensonique card and is using built in win2k drivers but it does the same shit

My m8 has a TNT2 M64 32Meg, and windows2000 is intermittantly rebooting. Specs: AMD K6-2 450Mhz @ 450Mhz. ASUS P5A-B 64Meg SD RAM PC100. Powercolor TNT2 M64. he has the latest drivers (Detonator3) latest agp (0.20) and latest BIOS revision (1010) Doesnt happen in games, only when in windows desktop. What happens is the computer suddenly brings up the dreaded BSOD and then instantly reboots. Processor definetely isnt overheating. Can you help?

Ok i want to know if win2k server will run on the following system. Im running nt4 on it and it really like to upgrade: AMD K6 233 64Meg Ram 1.7 Gig Hard Disk Really Crap ATI Graphics Card (256kb or summat) Id like to get win2k on there and if i can ill use it as a dedicated lan server. I think the main problem will be the RAM but all i want to know is WILL IT INSTALL AND RUN? if its slow i dont care. Thanks Kev
-
right ta thats ok - all i need it to do is serve files and act as a proxy for the net so im sure it will be fine with 64 (untill i get more money) no worries - the damned thing doesn't even have a monitor
-
It works fine under ME, except those damned lockups... But thats an OS problem (It just freezes). Explain more of these "memory problems"
-
so will it run? Ive heard that server wont install unless youve got 128Mb of RAM. Also its not advanced server, just server. ta

i am using a dolby prologic amp not some ****ty speakers

I have a problem with my sblive! Player 1024 i think the problem is caused by the fact that the new drivers are WDM and are about as hardware accelerated as a ****e. It does it in live ware 1 and 3. The crackling only occurs if there is movement on the screen, be that the spectrum analyser on winamp (turn that off and it nearly all dissaperars with only a single click now and again), clicking the start menu, or playing a DVD. So someone needs to use there brain and go back to the good old VXD. if u turn the buffer lenght up in winamp its no as noticable but its still there. oh and while im here anyone had a cable fault with a microsoft intellimouse explorer? i have one now and its REALLY annoying cos it just stops and u have to unplug in and plug it in again [This message has been edited by @~@:~KEV~:@~@ (edited 27 August 2000).]

im pretty sure its a cable fault - it just died totally but worked again 3 hours lateras for the spec the modem is sharing with the graphics on 11 the netcard and sb live are sharing 12 tv card video is sharing with tv card audio on 5 :-) the mobo is a via MVP3 with latest bios but win2k doesn't like acpi - it automatically installs it as satndard and if u choose acpi it doesn't install Another point is that it doesn't turn off at shutdown even though i have a atx psu etc when it used to under 98
-
ok i have to say that i do have a via MVP3 chipset running a k6-3. but what do u mean by underclocking - the cpu is overclocked from 450 to 500 but im thinking that ur talking about the pci bus right?
