The only real flaw is that Microsoft did not grease the senators with enough money! Otherwise they would have approved the deal.

I am preparing to format and would like to know is there a way to install SP2 versus the what comes with my orgional disk? Thank you in advance for your help.

One thing I noticed is that w2k sp2 does not update the drivers that the original W2k version or sp1 installed. Is there a command that will instruct SP2 to search and installed all up to date drivers within the OS? Thanks in advance...

The main problem is the VIA 4-1 drivers...they do not work. If it's easy I would recommend you format and start over and NOT install the 4-1 drivers. I would recommend installing the MS hotfix ATA 100 driver and the most recent driver from http://www.viahardware.com/memoryenable.shtm Also in your Bios you may want to disable the following and see if there is any improvement for you. APCI in power mgmt Video bios caching Video Ram shadow The main problem currently is the "CPU to APG controller" located in the device manager. This is what is causing the sudden lag. The 504 driver does not work. You can reinstall the MS driver by slecting update driver/next/known drivers and select the other driver listed. Hope this helps and does not confuse you. I pick up one of the new 5.1 SB + Platium boxs today. The drivers appear to be liveware 4.0 but I could not get to work with a older SB live card. The new drivers did not/would not detect the older SB live card. Think they look for a new bios verision. Some of the cool things are the dobly 5.1 speaker support. I would be happy to upload the drivers to anyone if you ask.

I reinstalled DX and the problem fixed its self.

We use Abit or Asus MB, W2K, SBL no problems at all....Maybe it is worth $120 to try. Hope this helps.

You are correct that most of those compaines make good products...however not all products work together. Knowing which products that work the best with each other is the real trick. We keep it smiple and never have any hardware issues.

I agree with Ronin...Buy cheap equipment and you have problems. If you are a IT or professional you are doing your company a diservice by buy cheap junk..... ha ha at you! PS: I have been using the same old SB Live card I have owned for three years... ha ha
