  3. Argh. I have a really dodgy monitor, and basically its got a heavy green overlay, and this is ok by playing with the colour adjustments in the display properties--->nVidia etc etc But when i play movies, the colour adjustments arent applied to the movie being played, so theyre all green. Is there any way to apply this to movies? I use GDivx player atm, but can change if needed. ------------------ In the year of our Lord 1314, patriots of Scotland, starving and outnumbered, charged the fields at Bannockburn. Decent win2k drivers for TNT2

I want to be able to run OpenGL in win2k, but to keep "desktop stability" cos when i use 5.32 detonators (best for TNT2's) win2k crashes a lot, so im on 7.17 atm, as theyre reliable, but dont do OpenGL. Funny thing is, quake3 runs fast as hell with these, but no other OpenGL apps do.... Any ideas/comments/suggestions are welcome, thanks. ------------------

I have a very similair set up here, and use Winroute on my server, it has a really good built in firewall, and it does NAT routing etc etc So you can use it to share the internet connection as well. ------------------ All your base ARE belong to us.

    DirectX for W2K?

First off, put win98SE on. Then, use 5.32 Dets. With DX8 xxxxxx.0400 (Windows Update for latest dx) THEN CS will fly, like mine. ------------------ All your base ARE belong to us.

New Purely Gaming OS - READ!!!!!

Right, i've been thinking about this for a while: Why are consoles so much faster than PC's spec for spec? Well, theyre faster because theyre dedicated, and theyre dedicated because they only run the game. So, i was thinking, what are the implications of having an OS that only runs the game, or even a loader that only runs the game. OS If there was a gaming OS, that asks you to select what game you want to play before it boots, and then loads only the needed drivers for that game. Loader Or even have a loader that is used to load all your games, so when you choose to run a game, it reboots the PC, and loads the neccesary drivers, then you're into your game. This would help in many ways, for example, on my systen, different games run at different speeds depending on what driver set im using. eg) Quake 3 runs fast with 6.31, but then half life runs slow. and half life runs fast with 5.32, but then Q3 runs slow. -This would solve that problem. So exactly how viable is this?...

New Purely Gaming OS - READ!!!!!

In response to everyones posts: "Yeah..." And dreamcasts actually render the game at 1024x768, then downsample it to 640x480 for the TV screen. Crazy or what.... ------------------ All your base ARE belong to us.

    Decent win2k drivers for TNT2

Argh I downloaded and installed 6.47, but i started getting Physical memory dumps (again), in nv_disp.dll So i've gone back to 7.17 - i dont NEED OpenGL in win2k, as im dual booting with GameOS GE, but it helps. NOTE: Good thing about 7.17 is really good divx performance, and quake3 is superfast also. ------------------ All your base ARE belong to us.

New Purely Gaming OS - READ!!!!!

Yeah, i know some peoples PC's play games faster than most consoles, but "spec for spec" they dont. Look at the dreamcast - POS on paper, yet it plays games infiniately faster than my 500Mhz/196Mb/TNT2

    Sticky Keyboard

ok but lol @ me it was funny.... anyway since its only one key i would think that its a hardware fault, try a different keyboard and see if it still happens. other than that, check windoze keyboard setup for anything concerning the A key... hope that helps more than my last post...

AWESOME screensaver to use with your GTS!!!

*sigh* ok, heres the story: I saw this post and went to the site... judging by the screenshots on the site, i assumed this screeny was piss poor and this guy was being sarcastic... so i posted an equally sarcastic post... After downloading it, and running it, then reading the other posts, i realised that this was actually real! In actual fact, i dont have an Athlon nor a GTS, ive got a K6-2 450 and TNT2 M64. It runs at 40fps @ 1024x768 and looks average...nothing special.

    Advice on dual booting Win9x / Win2k

This isnt a post asking for advice on anything, i just want to make sure nobody else goes through the sh1t i went through when installing win2k and win98SE. So this is my advice on how its done. Ok, lets say you want to install win98 and win2k. First thing you need to think about is partitions. Its good to actually write how you want your hard disk structured - i chose the following: C - Boot - FAT - 500Mb (boot partition) d - Win98 - FAT32 - 1Gb (win98 installation + swap) e - Win98_Stuff - FAT32 - 9Gb (Win98 games/progs etc) f - Win2k - NTFS - 8Gb (Win2k progs) g - Win2k_Stuff - NTFS - 10Gb (Win2k 'stuff';Storage basically) -NOTE : To do this either use a 3rd party program or in fdisk leave the amount of space you want for NTFS unassigned, or create them as FAT32 and format as NTFS in win2k setup program. So we've got these partitions set up, great, lets install. First off, install Win98 on d: and put swap file in there etc. Next, install win2k on f: and if its the size i made mine, then you can also install all your programs on this drive. The reason for this order is because win2k will automatically create an OS choice menu if another OS is installed - win98 does not. Also, if you have win2k on a partition before win98, then on booting up, the win2k drive cant be read and therefore the partitions are hidden - creating file path errors. This is what happened to me: Installed win2k on d: and win98 on e: (had 3 partitions) when booting into win98, the win98 drive became d: because the win2k drive cant be seen; "Windows cannot find file e:\windows\command.com" When the file was "d:\windows\command.com" Anyway, that should be all you need to do it, have fun -David Newbould ------------------ Life is a 5exually Transmitted disease with a 100% mortality rate.

    Advice on dual booting Win9x / Win2k

i chose to have 5 partitions to keep the OS and the OS's software seperate, if you know what i mean... So if the drive that the OS is on gets mega-fragmented (happens loads), then the progs will still run fast, and not need defraged. Theres no real reason to have c: as FAT, thats just how i did it - thats why i wrote it. In reply to "Tony" - erm you're welcome (??) and thanks for the nice comments.... But im not your "mate" ok, so STOP emailing me please.
