Having Trouble with ASUS P4P800 Deluxe onboard NIC(3C940-MV)
Mugen C replied to Mugen C's topic in Hardware
BTW, on a separate issue... Do anyone of you able to run Just 1 pc DDR with that board instead of 2? For testing purpose, I ran my box with 1 pc of 512 DDR 400, and the performance has drop quite a bit, especially during system boot up... Once I put back another pc of RAM, the speed was way better. Did that happen to any of you? regards, Mugen C -
Having Trouble with ASUS P4P800 Deluxe onboard NIC(3C940-MV)

Hi Tomay, You are amazing! It works like a charm now! 2 Thumbs Up for you! Thanks for everyone's input! regards, Mugen C -
Hi There, As subject, it has been 2 days that I've spent, :x trying to get the onboard NIC (3C940-MV) working with my W2K & XP-PRO. Downloaded the latest drivers from ASUS (couldn't find anything from 3com) W2K didn't even picked it up although I have pointed it to where the *.inf was located. In XP-PRO, I was able to forced the driver to be installed manually, but it connected for 1 min, then it became disconnected by itself. I updated the BIOS on the M/B thought that could help, but still no luck! What so funny is, I tried to disabled the onboard NIC and throw in a Intel PRO100 Server Adapter, it didn't even see it. Any ideas? Anyone using the same M/B (ASUS P4P800 Deluxe) here and managed to get the onboard NIC working? Thanks for any inputs! regards, Mugen C

I have a quick question for you all... when I connect to a server through RDP, Is it possible to access the local drives on my own PC from within the RDP Session? Let's say if I insert a CD to my local CD-ROM Drive, is it possible for me to install the application to a remote server through RDP, if so, how do you do that? Thanks for your help! regards, Mugen C

As subject, it was posted on MS around noon (Jun 26). Just have it downloaded and installed, have not noticed any "Side Effect"... But again, I suggest you not to apply that to your production servers (yet)...learn from my previous experience 8) ! regards, Mugen C

Hi There, here is my situation, My company is running NT4 and has over 10 different domains, all of them has 2-way trust relationship established with the IT Support Domain. For easier administration, we have created a Global Admin Account in the IT Support Domain, so that we can appliy patches/updates to other DCs and their servers with one master login name & password. However, what I realize is, with this setup, everyone from the IT Team (including the part-time and co-ops) will now be able to access all the shared resources on other domains...which is not a good idea. Now, my questions is... Besides going through all the domains, servers and removing "everyone" from each shared directories/resources, Is there an alternative/quicker way of accomplishing this task?...I am talking about over 200 servers and over thousands of shared resources... Is there a way to write a script that we can restrict user access? Or, Was our apporach a big mistake (such as creating 2-way trust and Global Admin account?) Thanks and look forward to hear from you soon! regards, Mugen C

Hi There, just got my XP Pro installed. Also have the built-in PPPoE working. But something is making me so confused. While surfing the net, some websites connected without problems. But some are taking forever to connect or giving me time our error. I tried Grc.com, 3com and couple other sites that I visit all the time. But none of them are working. Any ideas? Thanks and look forward to hear from you! regards, Mugen C

Hi There, I am helping my friend to post the following questions, hopefully someone could help me out! Thank you very much! The problems are as followed: ********************************** hmm...well, I'm using Win ME right now and I had recently just re-installed IE 6.0 off the Microsoft website, so it basically should be the newest version of IE 6.0 available. Now as for software, I have McAfee version 6 installed(the most update version too) and it has a firewall along with it. the strange this is I've given IE 100% permission to access content via the web, and it works for the first 5 ~ 10min. After those 5~10min IE stops working all together, and I can't access any pages at all. ********************************* regards, Mugen C

Hi Hellbringer: Below is what I have used to help me setup the VPN Server on W2K Sever, check that out! VPN Step-by-Step Good Luck! Mugen C

Hi There, just installed VPN Server using W2K Server and tested with one of the remote PC, everything works like a charm..However, something I would like to know...is there anyway that I can test how secure/private my "VPN" is? I know VPN suppose to be encompasses encapsulated, encrypted (at least this is what M$ said on their web site). Do you think I should enable the network browsing over the VPN/PPTP? Is it possible? Any disadvantage? What's your opinion? Any potential obstacle? Thanks and look forward to hear from you! regards, Mugen C

Thanks for all your replies guys...I know it's pretty good for home use, but just wondering if it is powerful enough to serve a 25 users business network? On the other hand, as I mentioned in the original post, will that work well with the Cisco 827 router? If not, any (DSL Router...can't throw away my Cisco ) recommendations? Thanks Again for the reply! regards, Mugen C

Hi There: Our office will soon be switching to ADSL...just wondering which DSL Router should I get? I have two options: Linksys BEFSR41 V.2 EtherFast Cable/DSL Router Nexland ISB2LAN-H4 The Nexland costs more $$$ than the Linksys but has 5yrs warranty. Besides that, we will be using the CISCO 827 to connect to our ISP. Do you know if there will be any problems with the 2 DSL Router that I mentioned? Thanks so much for your help! regards, Mugen C
