Sorry I ment "may" follow. I have turned off and on ACPI and had blue screens on almost all.
-
What OS are you running, if it is an NT based OS then a blue screen will follow.
-
Have you tried the latest ALi drivers for that board?

You people act like it is a freeking IRON. It is a computer, you can leave it on 24 7 365. I will not melt down! Heat is an issue with any electrical component with that much going on inside it. AS LONG AS YOU HAVE A DECENT HS&F, IT IS A COMPUTER LIKE ANY OTHER. A great deal of my clients have machines, Dell, Gateway etc. with AMD chips in them, and they NEVER have a problem. The biggest problem is Windows. I think YOU are making it bigger that it really is.

I am and will always be an AMD fan. If it was ONLY Intel we would all be screwed. They would have 90+% of the market cpus and the prices would be twice that there are now. Imagine if there was only COKE or ONLY PEPSI, what kind of sh*t would that be. AMD is there to compete like Cyrix tried to do. Without competition in the market place there is Monopoly or better known as MicroSoft. AMD chips are great for low end up to high end, you just need to make sure you cool properly. And that goes for ANY CHIP. I have a P4 and and XP. Both run about the same temp.

My 2200+ runs at 102F with AMD retail HS@F. Full load is about 115F. The only real advantage over Intel is price.

Last i checked. There is no frequency logging on the cpu so it's not like they can tell.
-
What i mean is that cpu an OEM or a retail boxed 3 year warranty chip.
-
Is that a retail chip?

Finally! Momma is lettin' me get a DVD Burner. Only i really don't know which to get. Uses: I make movies and will be making copies for use in a multitude of home DVD players. Back up. So I need a burner that will make movie DVDS that will play in a large percent of DVD players. I also need the burner to be under $300. I was thinking of the Pioneer 4X, i have heard it is pretty spiffy. Someone gimme some feedback...

NEC DVD+RW ND-1000A is the burner i got. Packaged as that Officemax deal above. What is the difference between DVD -R and DVD +R discs?
-
Thanks. Is that drive pretty good?
-
Damn! Nice deal! Does that drive come from a reputable site though?

What OS are you running 2K or XP? What service pack are you at? SP3 is the latest for 2K and SP1 is the latest for XP. What DirectX Version are you running?

THANK YOU. I knew I wasn't crazy. I remember having a Viper GL with the old Riva chip on it. Nvidia released some drivers a full 3 years after that cards release that made it last another year. Those drivers pretty much doubled the video quality and increased frames per second by like 30%! It also added way better GL support. I was able to play 2 games that would not work with the previous drivers. Not bad for a card I would've tossed in the trash. The Albatron GeForce 4 Ti 4200 128MB 8X kicks some serious @ss for the price.
-
Really.? All i hear from people who actually have an ATI is that they wished driver support was better. Nvidia may have stepped down their driver production in the last year. Both are great cards.
-
Don't forget to tell him how "wonderful" driver support is for ATI "choke choke"

Cycle Redundancy Check usually means there is a bad spot on the CD. Try cleaning it.

I have 2K and can play MPEG2 files just fine, i have no DVD ROM or DVD software installed either. Of course i do have Adobe Premiere installed and a capture card that can create MPEG2 files.

What's a farker?

I used to use Fuzzy Logic but noticed the FSB it reported was different from other programs that detect the FSB. On top of that the actual bios was different to.. . I now exclusively use the bios to change FSB, it and all the other programs reported the same number.

Make sure you are actually using 52X CDR media, some cheaper spools will say 48 or 52X but actually burn at lesser. If so uninstall Nero and reinstall it. Check for updates as well.
