http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/TechnicalResources/0,,30_182_871,00.html Make sure that in the BIOS AGP is set to 2X or 4X or Auto. Make sure that your AGP aperature size is at least 64MB. Take note as to what IRQ your video card is using and if it is sharing with another device. Try installing SP3, it solves a few issues. Try installing the latest Det. 4 REFERENCE Drivers. Make sure VIA 4-in-1 are installed as mentioned above.

Wow! Do they take chicken "bones"

So I should get the Gigabyte board and put One stick of DDR 266 on each memory controller (separate banks)? Thus giving me 266 X 2 = 533MHz memory?
-
Do either of those boards have and option in the BIOS for DDR 400 like the latest socket A flavor of the Gigabyte GA-7VAXP Ultra VIA® KT400 chipset? I have to have the memory running at 400MHz, as the chip will first be a P4 2.4GHz with 400MHz FSB.

Fastest AMD or VIA Socket 7 CPU that's only 100MHZ FSB?
CyberGenX replied to Christianb's topic in Networking
If that board supports 2.2V and 5.5x100MHz Clock then you can go AMD K6-2 550MHz. -
Guess you could tell I was venting a little... ;( I love this country too, as I AM an imigrant from Germany. Sometimes I do miss it though. I have noticed some pretty screwed up values here when compared to other countries. But then look at other countries where they only value food and terror. It's not so bad here... I could not believe that the RAQies were dancing in the street over our loss! How stupid, like the shuttle is a war machine or something... THey just love to hate.

If there isn't, there will be I'm sure. You can tell that people are getting bored, look at all the stupid reality shows! :x We gotten so bored that we now take entertainment in watching other peoples boring lame scripted lives. I love Ozzy and everything but jeez we see almost everything but him and his fam taking a sh*t! Anna Nicole please stop taking drugs or better yet just drop... I'll stop now...

NASA said that the 2nd most feared "Incident" are the tiny (and not so tiny) particles of space debris that fly around the earth at super speeds. A fleck of paint flying at 20K+ MPH can go through steel! It amazes me that they hardly ever get hit! They strategically orbit the shuttles at angles to which the most vital and volitile parts of the ship are made smaller targets for space debris to hit. I would love to ride...

I am at a site trying to fix this computer. I need win.com for Windows 98 1st Edition. It has been deleted by mistake. The 98CD is scratched and I can barely retrieve any files from and cannot do a new install. All my laptop has is 2000. Rather then trying to go out a buy a new copy of Windows 98 First Edition the (also I am in a remote location) I thought someone out there could send me win.com for 98Original. admin@fixthatpc.com or tell me which CAB on the 98 CD it resides, sometimes I can get the CD to read a few CABs.
-
I fixed the problem. Win.com is wincnf in CAB 28 of 98 1st edition CD. Extracted it and all is well.

The problem is Americans only get patriotic when tragedy hits. I never saw any US Flag bumper stickers until 9-11. Then 9-11 faded and the stickers came down. Now that Columbia is gone, the stickers and flags are back... f^ckin trendy people!!! I have been a fan of the space program (a real fan) since 1986. I have been to Kennedy Space Center Twice, and even sat in one of the shuttles (Explorer I beleive). It is very sad to see people ACT so concerned. In 3 weeks it will be forgotten, again. I am not referring to ALL you people, just the ones that only jump onto the bandwagon when the neighboors do. BTW The shuttle was at MACH 18 = 12,500 mph, or 18 times the speed of sound. NOT MACH 12 or 3.

I ended up liking SPiderman aside from the fact that they had to chop and redue the ending. The FX were not as "stand outish" as I saw in Hulk preview. Looked like Roger Rabbit meets Cool World. I like both Adam and Jack! Great combo.
-
I thought the HULK movie preview was sad. 3 words, STOP USING CGI! I am a huge fan of the HULK but jeez make a movie where all the actors are CGI or none are not this Scooby Doo sh$t. Loved the Matrix previews.

Just built a 1.7GHz Celeron, 256MB PC2100, Intel 845 MB, Sound Blaster 128, Intel Nic, GeForce 2 GTS. Loaded FRESH INSTALL of Win2K and all Packs and Patches. Only have Norton 7.51 running, no others programs or driver helpers. Even after disbling a sh*t load of services the CPU usage never drops below 20% at Idle! WTF!, there is nothing running, even when I turn off Norton it stays at 18%-22%. On my old AMD 1.2GHz CPU at work with pretty much the same set up I see 0%-2% at Idle. Is there something I am missing? CPU Throttle is at 12.5% in BIOS, and it is not overheating. I am not using any onboard devices except the USB for my scanner.
-
!!!!!SOLUTION!!!!! I pulled the Sound Blaster and rebooted, 0% CPU Usage! Yay! So after downloading the lastest Creative Drivers and reinserting the card still 0% Yippy yippy So this whole time it was the good ole sound blaster. Well thanks to all for your help and tips, now I can play!!!

Here are the hardware specs: Intel Celeron 1.7GHz Hoxtek MB with Intel 845D chipset (lastest BIOS) Kingston PC 2100 DDR, 256MB GeForce 2 GTS 64MB DDR (41.09 Dets) Sound Blaster 128 PCI Intel NIC 10/100 IBM Deskstar 40GIG Drive Main WD 30GIG Drive MP3s 12X DVD ATI TV Wonder VE (MM 7.1) Canon USB Scanner HP LaserJet 3P LPT1 (with IRQ enabled) DMA is enabled on all drives Windows 2000 SP3 with I.E. 6 SP1 and ALL Windows Updates I will try pulling cards today, as I was pretty sick yesterday (sniffle)
-
It is green bar, CPU usage. The when I turn on to Kernal time it is close to being in sync with green bar, it varies once it a while by 1-2%.
-
Yeah I unplugged the USB devices and even pulled cards. I have another machine that has the same board and CPU so i will install 2k on it and see if it does the same thing. :x
-
On Sandra 2002 it benches lower than a P3 1.0GHz! Results are 2500MIPS and 1601MFLOPS. WTF. Update: So far tried disabling ANY onboard hardware, Flashing BIOS and running Adaware incase there is anything on there by mistake. Still will not drop below 20%.
-
Task manager is telling me 20% CPU Usage at Idle. I will try running some benches, just don't know what bench prog. will tel me what's running. This IS a fresh install of windows 2K SP3, so the only progs on it are Norton and all the drivers and patches for Intel and Windows.
-
What am I looking for in the benchmark?
-
I installed the chipset drivers that came with the board. When I open Task Manager I have 16 Processes and in the CPU Field it has zeros all the way until System Idle Process which is at 99. Nothing else so much as peeps above 01. What am I looking for in the Major Geeks links above?

By the way you do have a 2100+ right? If so it runs stock at 1.73GHz. 133X 13.0 right. Just wanted to clarify. What BIOS version are you running? One way to tell if it is a power issue is to disconnect the power on all drives, take out all cards except video and see if it still reboots. With your computer set at 133MHz BUS make sure the memory is NOT set to HCLK+66. You want it at HCLK+33 on 133MHz BUS if it is PC2700. Or HCLK on 133MHz BUS if it is PC2100. Last what are your other hardware specs?

What dword value enables DMA mode transfers in registry?
CyberGenX replied to Curley_Boy's topic in Hardware
MasterDeviceTimingMode = 0x00002010 (8208) MasterDeviceTimingModeAllowed = 0xffffffff (4294967295) -
Try Clearing CMOS and run the chip at it's default/auto settings, maybe the board has set the cpu voltage too low. Or 'yes' get the latest bios. I have the same board in the RAID flavor and haven't had any problems with my 2100+ on a 350Watt cheap azz powers supply. You may need the latest bios or I would say the board/mem is bad. http://www.msi.com.tw
