uh...what part did u not understand Bursar? seems to me Dosfreak understood it pretty well. the idea is pretty simple...to be able to lock a w2k workstation without displaying the "computer is locked.." thing and keep the current state of the desktop viewable. removing the mouse and keyboard just removes the input devices, which can easily be replaced even by a kid. so that doesn't cut it my friend. and where did you ever get that information where locking the computer is ONLY meant to keep someone from reading a secret memo in your desktop? that's not even the main reason behind locking an NT workstation. it just freaks me up when a simple intelligent question is met by a lame retort...geez anyways, nikolai, u could try Dosfreak's suggestion. and if that works, i don't think it's impossible to replace that science screensaver with a screensaver having no "eye-candy" at all, so that you have a still desktop. that is if you can find or make one. Yakkob, I think you're the one not reading...your 'Sherlock' was replying to Radelon's post, not yours...duh [This message has been edited by Astaroth (edited 19 October 2000).]

an Op in another forum told me that he encountered the exact same problem. i guess NBA Live 2000 is just not NT-Compatible, at least in LAN Multiplayer. oh well, at least multiplayer in Diablo2 and Half-life:CStike is working. maybe i'll just do a Win2K/Win98 dual-boot setup if i want to play NBA Live 2000 multiplayer. i hope Whistler would prove to be much more compatible for games designed for Win9x. pretty obvious from the lack of replies/views that no one plays NBA Live 2000 multiplayer that much in here. but it's ok. it's not that popular as other multiplayer games anyway.

yeah, 8000 is the string value. for your other question, i think it is always the color of your desktop. i'm guessing that the reason you ask is that you want your wallpaper to be "seen through" the icon text field. but i don't think that's possible. but what i sometimes do is just set the desktop color to something that matches the wallpaper nicely.

hmm...it's been a long while since I played Red Alert...3 years I think...but from what I remember, isn't there a setup program in Red Alert where you set the resolution for the game? you should run this and set the resolution before you run Red Alert. but then again, I could be wrong. check it out.

I'm trying to setup a multiplayer game between two PCs using Network Setup or Direct Internet Setup. When trying Network Setup, the two PCs can communicate through chat but when one hosts a game, the other cannot see it in the game list. When trying Direct Internet Setup, nothing also happens(one is just "waiting for player..." and other is "connecting..."). The two PCs are both running Win2K and residing in the same domain in the LAN. I also tried using one PC with Win2K and the other with Win98. I was only able to setup a multiplayer game with the Win98 as host in a Direct Internet Setup. Anything else doesn't work. Please help. I'm very frustrated in trying to figure it out and in changing whatever I could just to solve this.
