Do I or do I not install hte latest VIA 4in1 drivers on XP? I have an Abit KT7A. The default XP install comes with VIA bus mastering drivers. I know in 2k you have to get rid of them as well as install the newest 4in1's to get decent HDD performance. However in XP UDMA is enabled already (IDE1 is showing UDMA mode 5). I've heard people saying I shouldn't install any VIA drivers so I'm not too sure.

ZA Pro is the not the only one you can use. Sygate Personal Firewall is also free for personal use and works just as well - it actually has some more advanced features. If you're willing to plonk down the money, Norton PErsonal Firewall also does a pretty good job. Though I haven't tried it, I'd be willing to guess that Tiny Personal Firewall is also gonna work.

I'm using cdrwin, NTI Cd maker and Nero (lates versions of all) to burn on XP 2600. The box is - TB 1Ghz, Plextro 16x IDE burner, Pioneer 16x DVD, 256MB Ram. All burns seem to be ok, however on some cd's I get bad/corrupted files when I try to read them - there is no indication of this during the burn. If I burn 2-3 times again then they work. I'm using BurnProof so why is this happening? And how can I prevent it !!

There a couple of things you should check - 1. what programs are running on startup. The places to check are in your startup group (start menu->programs->startup) and in the registry (run regedit) under these keys - HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce If you see anything here that you didn't explicitly enable to run at startup - remove it. 2. Check which services are running. Services all load when the OS boots up so they always get first crack at consuming resources. This article will show you how -http://www.3dspotlight.net/tweaks/win2k_services/index.shtml 3. Check your event logs to see if any errors/unusual activity is taking place at boot time. Right click on My Computer->Manage, and in the tree, choose EventViewer->System, and look for errors/warnings. You can email me for any help. As for desktop themes, these links should help you - http://www.desktoparchitect.com/ - Free theme support http://www.stardock.com/products/windowblinds/download.html - much more than themes, change the whole look and feel! Have fun -
Hi guys, Can anyone help me find a way to get the wingman interceptor working in Win2k? It obviously doesn't ship with 2000 drivers (I bought it 6 months ago), and the only driver on Logitech's site is a humongous, generic Wingman software (6MB!) which is supposed to support all Wingman devices, but doesn't detect my joystick. Its not a USB device so 2000 doesn't detect it automatically, and I've tried using it as 6-button joystick without any result. Have any of you used it?

I know about the crash-to-desktop problem with this game under 2000 (the uninstall-patch-reinstall idea in the other thread doesn't work), but now I've started seeing this exact same behaviour, i.e the game exiting to the desktop after the EA intro, in Win98SE too !! And I haven't been able to find a website for this game - the official EA sports page only has a lik to superbike 2000
