huge differance Going from 3600 with radeon 64 meg DDR, to approz 7100 with 8500. Same system
-
when creating user accounts, in XP by default it selects making the system files for that user private, or unaccessable beside admin, or that user. Could this be the problem? Or is it that you can an error when trying to get dir list?

Well...if you are doing video, firewire would probably be better than USB 2.0 (as far as I know there are more available FireWire recorders than USB 2.0). You may also want to get 2 HDD and do a striped raid array for the video editing (although HDD's have almost closed the gaps between RAID and their lone selves ). Going with an AMD system would be my choice, and because of the amount that photoshop would be used, the RAM is a good size. Building a good system doesnt always mean that you need to buy the best chip out there. When I got my 1.2GHz t-bird, the 1.33 and 1.4 Ghz cpu's were on the market, but not at all comparable in price. The system I have built is still more than enough for what I do (very similar to your requirements minus video) and has plenty of kick left. Considering video is another option. I went with the Radeon 8500 for its dual monitor capabilities, and for its gaming prowess, because I feel that this setup makes me more efficient in my programming and 'power user' applications, and still can beat a 1.4 GHz/gf2 pro setup

Alice unplugged is in the top ten in my books, without a doubt. Something about that disc, its so good. Especially with them out of their element. Lane's singing on that disc is unreal and I am gonna miss hearing his unique voice. Great band, great music. -
I have bin/cue files that is some bootleg from a tool concert... I am wondering how I am to watch these.... Is there any way to convert to mpeg or avi without burning to disc? Can someone give me a quick walk through of the 'glorious' vcd project. It is allegidlly a vcd. What type of players will play them, and in what format?
-
Welp, Im gonna try burning them with nero and see if I have some better luck there. Ill keep you posted.

Take a large chunk outta my debt from school. But if I was outta debt I would prolly get a banging TV. Sony Widescreen. $8999. Done. No problem.
-
I tried using power dvd on the bin, iso and the dat file. It does the same thing for all three. The vid is playing, but there is green fragmentation across the picture and the audio is all screwed (I can see in the top half and I can hear the movie when the audio isnt haywire). I know that this file is fine, I have just nvr bothered with VCD before.
-
"Cannot playback teh file. The format is not supported" The DAT file is the approx same size as bin.
-
After using bin chunker to convert to iso, I used iso buster to extract the iso image file. From there I recieved 5 directories: CDI, EXT, MPEGAV, SEGMENT, VCD. In the MPEGAV dirI grabbed the DAT file but wmp wont play it. There are no files in CDI or Segment DIR and there are 4 vcd files in the VCD dir and two vcd files in the EXT DIR. After converting to iso, i am given two iso files??? One which is huge, 471 MB and the other is 1.01 MB. To extract anything, I can only use the smaller one. From there I can grab the dat file direct. Still no go. Am I doing something wrong?

I cant seem to get publisher to install. The setup runs through the system update, then installs and reboots the computer. Once the computer resumes from reboot, the publisher instalation begins. After a few seconds I get an error message saying that "The file C:\WINDOWS\OBDC32.dll is version x.x.6.x and we require x.x.8.x" How does this not update the "system files" as its the "system files updater" Is there any way to get around this???
-
Well ... I finally got fed up and grabbed the file from an existing windows installation. It seems that the system updater does not update the odbc or sql dll's. There was only 2 DLL's that I had to replace. After copying the files, installation went through without a hitch.

For the canadian junkies....www.ncix.com is the best thing that has happened to me since the computer. Cheap prices, and cheap, reliable delivery. Ordered Thursday morning, recieved tuesday afternoon.
