CrazyKillerMan replied to CrazyKillerMan's topic in Customization & Tweaking
well....win2k defaults to not using L2 cache...on my machine the amount of lvl 2 cache it was using is 0. Get x-setup 5.7 http://www.tweakfiles.com/allinone/xsetup.html and this shows im using 0 lvl 2 cache. -

I just installed office 10 beta 2 and set outlook as my defualt mail browser. After i set the accounts up, i started recieving a message everytime i tried to read a file...it says something along the lines that there was another program trying to access my mail, and if its a virus, you should pick no. So i choose yes and went to the next email, same thing! After closing, rebooting and re-opening i noticed it is asking this for every email i have saved, everytime i start the program. So even if you dont use this program, could you please drop a line on what app would create this probelm? Thanx alot

Hey i was wondering if anyone has been successful in starting an ftp site with a Linux router project box? I went over to www.dynu.com and got a domain name, this way, my router communicates with this site and vice versa. I downloaded G6 FTP Server 2.0 beta 7. I started the dynu ftp with a small batch file I created, which activates the dynu program in win2k, then ran the exe file. From there i started the g6 ftp and opened connection. I cannot logon myself from another computer on my network. My question is...is there any way to get around the router?

Scolling Program Menu..set to off, BUT....
CrazyKillerMan posted a topic in Customization & Tweaking
I have a wierd thing happening in win2k pro. I have the "Scroll the Program Menu" turned off in the advanced options....but it still does scroll them. The thing is, its only showing the files(or programs) i most frequently use. How do i make it so all of the menu is shown at all times? -

Upgrading CPU/Memory - How will this affect Win2K Pro?
CrazyKillerMan replied to RussellWild's topic in Customization & Tweaking
I am running a p3 500 with 128 megs of ram, and the other day i got another stick of ram and my performance went threw the roof. With ram being cheap as it is, buy a stick or two more. -
I can give u the lowdown on a router. What it does is take 1 address ***igned to you by your provider and "splits" it up for more than one computer. This essentially uses only one ip address, for 1 or more cpus. A residential gateway acts like a router, same thing essentially.

.....this is a long shot, but it could be a memory dump, just try turning that off, see if that helps at all, but usually it gives a nice bsod. But, it could also be the connection to the mobo, check that out, and all the other connections, and if they are all ok, i would suggest getting another case, as the power supply will prolly be round the same $$$$.

I can get it for you real easy....just unzip.....
-
Does it have anything to do with the restore feature on the registry? Maybe try to work around that, this is just a guess mind you.

from what ive heard is that less is better. Apply a thin film of grease, and tack glue in 4 corners, then apply hs. There was a site just recently up @ ntcompatible's main page that went through this.

The cockmaster is right, i have a LRP and it was maybe $100 total, and shes pretty reliable. You could go and spend $$$ on a cisco router for some increased speed, but i think for a home use LRP is the way to go.
