Wow Huge Bummer. I was away all weekend and didnt catch /. yet. Thanks for the heads up. Typing a letter now. -
Go into the command prompt by going to run and type in 'cmd' and then jet to that location and rename it manually ie: ren msm.iso.exe msm.iso OR Under folder options, make sure that hide file extensions is unchecked then simply edit the file name by highlighting it and pressing f2, then just delete the part you dont want.

I run 1600x1200x2 now and I get frustrated at work with a 19" So efficient for power users, and even for regular users it provides more flexibility. Plus - from what I have heard - chicks dig it 8) -

I grabbed some new RAM (512MB) cause mine crapped out - some DDR333 and also a 750VA UPS. -
Grab ad-aware from http://www.lavasoftusa.com/. Run regualr scans - thats the best you can do to get rid of them all. As far as installing - the best bet is preventative measures. Chances are, alot of shareware will have SOMETHING in it, ie: Kazaa installs everything and the dog. But hopefully they start asking the user if they want gator/new.net installed.

Yea - sorta - pronounced toosh-eh You know? ie: "ahhh touche" But its probably the stupidiest thing to say ever, and I really do apologize - it was at 6:30am. What I meant was: Cool - you got me on that one!

I have 'multiple' questions here. I need to implement a mail server on a windows 2000 box so the company I work for can share calendars in outlook. Is there any stipulation to the kind of mail server needed? If so what is that stipulation? It needs to be applicable for both remote and local accounts, but I cant really see this being a problem (except on teh hardware side of things ;( ). I was looking into Kerio mail serving software, as I have tried it out before. Would this be a decent mailserver for 25-50 people? Or is there a more elegant solution out there? I need your opinions please! EDIT I seen clutch dug Exchange 2000/5.5 and this is also something that could be looked into. I am currently researching @ http://www.exchangeadmin.com/ I am kinda new to anything mail server! /EDIT

OK, here at work we have a program that is OLD OLD OLD. It works great, and we need it anyways to program radio's to certain frequencies. Like I say it works great, but there is one small issue that is angering me: it makes a pool directory on the floppy drive and does nothing with it. If you do not have a 3 1/2" floppy in, the program will not start. Is there anyway to immitate or fool it into thinking that there is a floppy on the computer??? It is an old DOS 3 compatible program, and I have checked all the install batch files as well as some of the systems batch files. Short of reverse engeineering the exe file, I am at a loss.

Quote: You could heve use the subst command Hey! Perfect! Seems more of an elegant solution for what I need (sorry Alec & Dosfreak - but thanks for the help anyways - very much appreciated!)

Well ... this really should have been in the 2k section E#%^(&*#$% Sorry guys. Jerry & DosFreak - thnx for the replies. Im still looking into figuring out exactly what we need here ... so I guess the question was a little premature - but I think that exchange is definatly the way to go.

Quote: WTH is "breaking squelch"? Just want to know for future reference Normally, when not transmitting or recieving radios are silent. It requires a certain voltage (we have ours set to 0.4 uV) to trip them on to recieve. In a vehicle, squelch is breaking (ie: radio is cutting in and white noise is outputted to the speaker) and we have no idea why, its not harmonics, nothing. Seems that when clsoe toa fender squelch breaks at a lower voltage than normal. The voltage has to be at a certain frequency as well to break it ie:156.15 MHz will not break 156.8 MHz, but it is only breaking at a certain freq. So - long story short - break squelch = annoying.

Quote: (Also last year for Fedex in one of their repair depots using Welch Allyn Handheld scanners & their own proprietary middleware to carry the RF back to an Access Database, but that was pure 100% Windows stuff & Win32, not really appliceable, but I was not sure HOW you were using this stuff in RF & thru what media & OS etc. so I had to ask & state this stuff!) Oh no nothing like that. Its jsut simply software that will update the radio's EEPROM and set it up for differing channels of use. I can read in a radios info from the serial port, save it as a file, re-write it for VCO tests, then edit the origianl setup and make sure the freq/channels/rights are correct, then copy it back and tune all the deviations and levels. Im looking over the links now, and thanks for that speedy reply fellas! Ill bbiab after I have tested them out.

Quote: RF work there? That looks like something you'd use in handheld RF utilizing scanners or something in how you describe it... Yessir, handheld and vehcile bound installs. I work for a company that provides radar and communication support for the local air force base. Currently I am trying to figure out why all the vehcile systems are breaking squelch - but we cannot - cause in the cage it does work fine!!! Thanks for the suggestion, can the program effectively become the "a:" ?

Quote: * If I go for a new soundcard to get more outta games sound-wise, this Audigy looks like it is the one to go with! Indeed, I upgraded from an SB Live! and I dont know if I did notice a difference (I think I did at least ) but you get a firewire port and a great sound card for $100 CAD. I had way less problems (0 to be honest) with this card compared to the Live!, and this is an OEM card as well. The card and a cd is all I need plz! I am an absolute stickler for sound quality and this board does not disappoint in that arena either. -
That is most likely the motherboard telling you that there is a hardware problem. Sometimes, when a memory stick or an agp card isnt installed properly the PC speaker will give of a string of beeps, sorta like morse code. Long beeps, short beeps, long and short beeps together indicate a certain problem. Here is a link for a phoenix bios http://www.firmware.com/support/bios/beep3.htm YOu can MAYBE consult this as I am unaware if there are any standards for these codes. Could be the processor is dead, or not seated correctly. Could be anything.

Well, this certainly qualifies as "Other"...

Quote: I highly recommend you get the Audigy, good MIDI and no problems with Windows 2000 or XP from most users. The updated SB Live drivers from Creative really fixed all the bugs that I had with XP. Hell, I have an Audigy with a pure VIA board and XP with no problems.
