Ye - the op-amp idea is ideal - jsut make sure to put it in the line out, before the amp, and if you get a coil, after the amp. With the coil you loose much power, with the op-amp you can add 'some' gain or attenuate as you see fit. But you knew that
-
Quote: think it was just that i had to have more power to the remote pin. so i hooked it up straight to 12V and bam!! Hah - told you. You may want to pop down to the school and grab a coil (aka big inductor) to filter out high end - or you can use an op-amp to filter the shat out.

Quote: Now, are you running the amp off of the line out or speaker out? I would definately recommend line out, as speaker out would probably blow out the line level inputs on the amp. If connected to line out, have you tried adjusting the gain on the amp or raising the volume on the PC? Line out would also be my recommendation. Most likely wont blow anything, but there is a chance. If the sound is distorted turn the input adjust all the way down and go from there. Quote: they wouldn't just kill the amp immediately after the last signal was passed. There would be a delay before this ever occurred. Yea I figured it would have to be a one shot thing, until you turn it off, or a delay like you said. As far as it still not working, I have no idea why not, cause that amperage rating should be fine.

Quote: see if there is an adapter that can sense signal voltage on the RCA jacks and turn on the amp Wouldnt there be instances where there is no voltage on the line and it would turn of the amp, then say - a windows sound kicks in and it tuns the amp on, then off after its done. That wouldnt be to ideal for the amp, or for the power supply.
-
Do you have the sense hooked up? Bridge power and remote wires together at the amp. Then remove when you want to disable the amp. This is assuming its JUST a power supply, that is not connected to a computer as well. You will kill the computers power. When you grounded it to case, is there any paint or annodized material on it? If so, try removing that and reconnecting so there is a loop. You may also want to try to see how much current the amp draws in a car, then compare with the power supply specs. Never heard of anyone doing this. You are a crazy man, mang :x

I am rather jealous. Good luck to you in Hawaii!

Quote: Barton is gonna be the last Socket A core before Hammer. It is not the 64-bit chip either. Its just that I read an article about the claw-hammer being released as the Barton. But - seems that I have been proved wrong.
-
Isnt the Barton on a different socket? Thats what I was refering to. Wasnt it supposed to be the 64 bit processor? Or am I jsut 100 and 10% out to lunch?
-
Recently I have read articles saying that the tbreds in teh future (end of this year) MAY support the higher bus speeds, but there was definatly nothing concrete. There was talk about the Barton officially supporting 166MHz fsb, but that wont work on the A7V333 anyways. ;(

Quote: How could it *not* work? While I do like explosions and cool toys, I think that Mr. Diesel ruined it more than anything. ;( But it was cool, and I would recommend it also.

You may want to inform us of the OS's (but like Silver-Dagger im going to assume its XP cause its in teh XP thread section). You simply must make sure that the logon and password on your system is the same as on his system and vice versa. ie: make new users with these specific values. You dont want to cut out this protection though, cause if you are on high speed this can be a security risk. So just make sure that your accounts are identical on both systems.

Can you try a different monitor? Or a different video card. The data being sent to the monitor could be bad it the cable is bad or teh video card is bad. Try re-installing drivers for that. My suspision is that its the monitor itself. May be a good time to haul the computer over to a friends house and check it with their monitor (a tower is infinitly easier to move than a monitor).

Athlon xp 1800+ wont boot on true clock speed...
CrazyKillerMan replied to zoooom's topic in Hardware
Sounds like it could be a memory stick. Do you have a number of sticks that you can temporarily swap? ie: 2 x 256MB - try using just one. I had a bad stick in my rig, and it gave me random lockups on boot. Is the file that it cannot find constant or random? When you set the lower clock speed are you affecting the FSB or the multiplier on the chip? If you are effecting the fsb most likely its memory. -
I had a very similar problem with a dying fujitsu hard drive. WHEN it wasnt working (it worked half the time until it died) the other Maxtor drive on the chain was also removed. I could not see or detect the drives in the bios either. Maybe the DVD player died, but the flash could be the reason why.
-
Is it on the system drive? ie: The drive that Windows XP is installed on? If so you wont be able to partition it using this method and you will have to go with a 3rd party application. As far as resizing goes, you are also stuck with having to go down the 3rd party road. The only way to change an existing ntfs partition using disk management is to delete it first, then create seperate ones from scratch and format each new partition you make. When you create the partitions, make sure that you change the amount of data, and make sure to disable or uncheck anything that is along the line as "use free space." Sorry I cant be more specific, but from about 15 minutes of searching I have come up empty handed with resizing partitions using this software. here is a couple links I found in my travels: http://www.swynk.com/friends/zandri/70-270-9-1.asp http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;q309000&

Quote: P.S. Crazykillerman, thanks for setting me straight with the crossover/standard cable difference. I was a little confused with what I had written also. But, I got it right in practice, I just made the error in my post Anytime, glad I was of some help! Let us know what the dilli-o is.

I had a similar problem with WM9 and AVI files. YOu can view them by first opening WMP and then opening it manually. ;( :x

Quote: Guys, you are making this harder than it really is. It's not that fdisk can't find the drive, fdisk cannot be found. HAHAHHAHAHA - indeed!
-
Quote: Depends on the filesystem WinXP is using Yea - but you cannot create startup disc in the Add/Remove programs section with Windows XP - thats what I was getting at. DOS can only read FAT bast systems, it cannot read NTFS. 8) That is why the drive cannot be found.
-
Uggh - I think that is for Windows 9X - ie: FAT32 is it not?

I used to be an installer for a high speed dealer, and there was many occasions in which people would call in saying their 'net isnt working at all. When I got over there, device manager, modem lights, NIC lights and cable were all flawless, the nic could ping itself but nothing else. It could be one of the NIC's in the network that are acting up, but like Alec says, check the easiest, most obvious thing first, the cable.

Quote: Oh, Crazykillerman, Is there anyway to setup one of the PC's to act as a DHCP server? Or is that a no no? And why the hell does Windows specify that one of the PC's should have their IP address assigned automatically then? (It did this by running the network connection wizard) There is - but you may want to ask somebody with more exp on that one (such as clutch or Alec ). I have never had the oportunity to set one up seeing as though I use a 100 MB switch with a build in router/firewall/dhcp server. Well - obtaining IP's automatically means that it needs something to obtain it from, I dont beleive that Windows XP Professional by default has it installed, I know there is a client installed though. Actually it isnt installed. Im assuming this is a 'general' subject so Microsoft simply puts down the most used configuration for the wizard.[/img]

Well I should have really known better, but I am a huge farscape fan and the computer game seemed intriging. I think it stinks. Anyone else? The game feels as though it was simply thrown together.

As far as television shows - is it illegal to download them? I am unaware if this is an illegal practice, but I download the epz cause Space Channel only gives me one hour a week and its repeats, nothing new. As far as the DVD's go, the new season 2 DVD's (its in season 4 now) are double discs, having 4 episodes instead of season 1's two episodes. I dont think that they will release a seasonal, but I could be wrong. Have you read somewhere about it? I went to a comic book store in Saskatoon (city near where I live) and they had farscape action figures!!! I had to buy Rygel, but they also had Aeryn with Pilots DNA and Bialar as well. Its a huge shame that the game is so grubby, just by going to the website you can see the lameness of the whole thing!
