Download a program called Trillian. It supports ICQ, AIM, Yahoo! IM, MSN, and IRC. Super awesome program, lots of nice features.

Detonator 3 14.61 seems to fix the problem with TNT2
Vampyr replied to nightwolf09's topic in Hardware
TNT2 Ultra Cards have problems with WHQL drivers. Use the Non-WHQL drivers (available on NVidia's Site) -
Do you think the Windows Preview Program Keys will work with RTM of Windows XP?????

I had this problem when uninstalling EZCoaster (i mean EZCD) Creator 5 Platinum. Only way I was able to fix the problem was by restoring from a previous registry backup that I made (system restore won't fix it) or to format and reinstall WinXP. Just reinstalling over top of XP (upgrade) won't fix the problem. I wish there was an easier way to fix this.

The built in Diskmanager for WinXP will delete those Linux partitions. I had the same problem. What version of PQ Magic Pro are you using? I had the latest Pro Version and had no problems as long as I didn't have any NTFS drives.

I have a TNT2 and Dual Processor system (ASUS CUV4X-D), only the 7.58 Det drivers work...anything else produces random lockups.

If you are using the ASUS CUV4X-D motherboard do not upgrade your BIOS to 1010. Stick with 1007. Upgrading to the new BIOS will plague the user with the following problems under WindowsXP RC1... slower boot-up time, ACPI.sys Errors, and sluggish/jerky USB support (jerky mouse, stuttering webcams, buffer underruns with USB CDRW).

Quit being a bunch of cheap bastards and go get a legit preview program copy for $10.00.

Everytime I enable 3D sound with environmental effects in a game, be it EAX or DirectSound, I get weird distorted noises. Then the sound totally cuts out. Sound works perfectly without 3D support. I am running WinXP b.2481, SBLive, 512mb RAM, Dual P!!! 1Ghz on a ASUS CUV-4X motherboard. Is there a quick fix for this? I will be upgrading to RC1 once my preview program notification arrives. I'm hoping that will fix the problem. Please don't reply to this thread if all you have to offer is "Buy a different SOundcard." I will not buy another soundcard because every multimedia/game sound card on the market blows big time when it comes to audio recording.

I had the problem where it would reboot during install. To remedy this install Diablo II in XP then reboot into Safemode to install the expansion. If you follow this method it will work like a charm.

Thank you. You are God.

I heard MS will be sending out emails in small patches later on tonight. The emails will be sent out in small batches to avoid putting strain on their download servers. Check www.ibelite.com for more info.

Here's my opinion. If its a home user who cares if they priate software. For example I downloaded a pirated version of Win2K Advanced Server... why? Cause I wanted to see what it was like. I nuked after about a week. I don't know about you but i'm not gonna fork out tons of cash just to "see what an OS is like". You may say "there's hardly any difference blah blah blah so there's no reason to pirate it". How was I suppose to know this until I installed it? Next thing, MS isn't gonna care if some Johnny Nogood downloads a pirated copy of a major server OS for limited home use. MS won't waste their time or resources. They people MS go after are big business's using illegal OS's to make their business run better and also those people who make a profit by selling pirated software (ie Telecommander in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada).

I'm about to reinstall with the MPS Multiprocessor HAL. ACPI sux. Whoever came up with the idea should be shot and pis*ed on.

Ok, how can i do this without installing LILO and without using a bootdisk. Any help severly appreciated. They had an article about it at www.geocities.com/xpbeta2/ but this page doesn't exist anymore.

I have no problems with my via chipset. Right now i have a CUV4X-D dual p3-qghz. I'm wondering if this is a via-AMD related problem as I have not experienced this problem on any via-Intel boards. I dunno, I could be totally wrong... its just an idea.

Format and boot from the WinXP CD

Yes, its a leaked pre-RC1 build. Also, there is no working crack for it as of yet.

I just recently upgraded my system to dual p3 1Ghz, 512mb ram with a Asus CUV4x-D motherboard. I have an elsa tnt2 and sblive value. XP installed on my old p3 700 w/ asus p3v133 board. The problem i get is that half waythrough the Installing Devices portion XP i get a blue screen "Interrupt storm. blah blah blah error in ACPI.sys". Win2k installs with no problems. I have tried installing fresh with many different builds of XP. I have also tried upgrading to XP from many different platforms. I have also done many BIOS tweaks and have tried installing with nothing but the videocard. XP installs if i specify a Standard PC but then i don't get dual CPU support. Two things i haven't tried are a) replacing ACPI.sys with the Win2k version and installing XP on a different machine and then putting the hard drive into my machine and letting XP detect the new hardware in Windows. Any Help would be appreciated

Thank you. I'll give it a try.

There isn't anything relating to ACPI in my BIOS. Would assigning IRQ's to my PCI slots fix the problem?
-
When the installer starts i press F6 to bring up the PC select screen and all i can select is "Standard PC C-Step i486". Is there anything i'm doing wrong?
