I was reading those stupid billboard messages during the WinXP install (yes I have nothing better to do) and I noticed this little piece of text "See How Innovation Works For You" Can we say corporate propaganda anyone?

ok... i had to reinstall 2454 again but i lost the hacks to bypass activation. I tried to get them from ETPlanet but their site has been down for quite some time. Does anyone know of another place that i can get the activation bypass?

I have an ASUS CUV4X-D motherboard with the latest bios 1014. The problem I am experiencing is that when every I try to run REdhat/Mandrake/SuSE Linux in SMP mode the OS will hang during the initial boot. The only way I can get SMP to work in linux is to disable MPS1.4 support. The question I have is there any benefit to having MPS enabled or disabled? Will there be any performance or compatiblity issues in WindowsXP Pro if I change this setting? Also, what the hell does MPS do?

Ok, this has bothered me for some time, how do I get more TABS to show up in Windows Messenger (I know trivial but its been bothering me for some time now). My only choices are Microsoft .NET Alerts and MSN Money. Any help would be appreciated.

I wouldn't recommend compatibility mode. The problem lies in the processing power of the audio card. I haven't used reason in a while but i know that in Rebirth you could select DirectX Output or Waveout Output. With my old SBLive card I found that using Waveout skipping was less frequent. Also, the SBLive Audigy apparantly processes audio better than the old EMU10K1 SbLive Cards.

I had the same problem in Win2K. The problem disappeared when i went to Dual processors. I suggest upgrading to WinXP Pro, it seems to handle audio programs a little better. YOu should also look into purchasing a professional audio sound card. Something from Yamaha, or maybe even E-Mu Systems (the E-Mu APS is an excellent card). I do alot of audio recording. If you want to ask me any questions you can ICQ me at 19901838 or MSN me at fear_machine@hotmail.com

How do I disable that fu*cking error reporting? Everytime I boot into Winblows eXtraPiss it says my system has recovered from a serious problem. As you can tell i'm a little frustrated.

Its a cool idea. Its nice to have alternatives out there. For once someone is doing something totally innovative (I don't want any "windowsXP is innovative" replys. M$ has a big big budget to work with where as other companies do not). I have a soft spot for the underdog. Who knows maybe in 15 years Lindows will take the lead in the desktop PC market. Speaking of alternatives has anyone used QNX or AmigaOS 5? QNX has by far the best clustering service around (its the only "realtime" os around. Or so they claim). I think Each operating system has its own little thing that it accels in over other desktop/server operating systems. Can't wait to test drive Lindows.

I had problems with this as well. The easiest way to fix it is to download the *fixed exe file (used so you can play YOUR backup copies of Hot Date). Upon installing the fixed exe I was able to play with no problems what so ever. If you need this fixed exe email me at jmeier_meier@sasktel.net or MSN Messenger @ fear_machine@hotmail.com . **Note: THis is not wa*rez as users are entitled to make backup copies for their own use. If you are reading this post I am assuming that you own a legitimate copy of the software.

Changing a DiVX file into a VCD file allows you to watch the movie on a stand alone DVD player.
-
Nero 5.5.5.1 with the MPEG2 Codec will automatically encode DivX files to VCD/SVCD files before it burns them to CD. If the DivX movie is over 60 mins then I cut the divx movie in half using virtual dub and burn the two avi's to two seperate cds, once again, using nero.

Download the drivers from www.soundblaster.com WindowsUpdate may claim that "their" drivers are newer, but they're not. Don't install Liveware either, some people say it works no problem others say its a disaster. Liveware is useless, all you need are the drivers.

If you have an MS joystick you can use the Sidewinder controller software to map keyboard keys to gamepad buttons.

Just use norton ghost Personal Edition and do a "Partition to Partition" copy.

Just rip using Nero. Thats what I do.

What type of BSOD is it giving you? If its an OE error then its memory. One thing i noticed is that problematic ram acts up worse on 2k/XP machines than on 9x/ME machines.

Same problem here. All opengl games fuk up when i exit them. Specs: Elsa TNT2 (Det 7.59 cause anything above causes random lockups) 512mb Ram 2x PIII 1Ghz ASUS CUV4X-D Motherboard WinXP Corporate RTM SBLive! 2x Realtek 10/100 NICs 80gb Maxtor HD 20gb Fujitsu HD 12x8x32 LG CDRW 52x Creative CD-Rom

I have noticed the same problem with my machine as well. I'm running WinXP Corporate. This probable only occurs at random. When the problem does occur the only icons that do appear are the ones showing my active network connections. The programs are running they just don't appear in the taskbar. Only solution i have found for this is to log off (no user switching) and log in again. I find this extremly annoying. Another problem i noticed is that when exiting out of certain games all my icons and web content (in folders) has disappeared.

I think your copy of XP may be corrupt.

I'm running a Point Of Sale system that loads a DLL program into memory. In order to perform system updates the DLL has to be unloaded. The only way to achieve this is by rebooting the machine. Is there a command line i can use to manually stop and unload the dll? I'm using win2k server.
