what the hell are you talking about? That feature is a hell of a lot more reliable that Adaptec, Nero, or any of the other ones, and hell, it's not even a finished feature. I use it all the time and find it to be faster and more reliable than any 3rd party software. I'm sure it'll be improved by the time it's done and over with, but as of now, on my system with what I have, it's much better overall [This message has been edited by jdulmage (edited 26 November 2000).]

do you have Office 10 Beta 1 or 2 installed? There is a slight bug with Office 10 and Windows Me that makes sudden hard drive access for no reason. I had the problem at one time myself. Also, maybe defragging would help, I don't know.

Some people's children..

no doubt, I'm not upgrading until probably RC1 or something... look at this.. http://www.microsoft.com/Windows2000/Whistler already got some Whistler stuff up
-
hmm...I have no clue, maybe in the BIOS, set your Graphics Apenture Size to 64 MB and then simply reinstall DX8 again, it seemed to work for my friend's machine a few days ago, don't know about you though.

LOL.. too bad I lost mine

Whistler problem with Matrox G450= no 3d acceleration

i'll basically sum this up.. It's not on the beta compatibility list, therefore, it doesn't work 100 %. -
What is the difference between Whistler Professional and Per
jdulmage replied to pr-man's topic in Hardware
the only reason why whistler takes up more RAM is because of the looping of svchost.exe files. There are about 7 or 8 more loaded than there should be. (a bug most likely) That is why it's taking up more, otherwise, it would take equal or less RAM than win2k does. You can use a little program called tlist from the Support Tools in the /SUPPORT directory of the Whistler directory to remove some of those svchost.exe files that load on startup. I agree, it's only gonna take a few more months it's going to be "how do I do this" and "why is the device manager different", etc, etc, etc.... It's going to suck

I can run it in Whistler just fine

no doubt, I have to go with yakkob if he is snickering at miku... MSN Messenger? come on...ICQ has never had a problem with me, never has, never will.. MSN is good, but it ain't widely used and the features in it currently blow

yep, NHL 2000 and 2001 run fine with DX8, 6.34 drivers, and SP1
-
god..doesn't he get it....i'll explain.. They got the RTM Copy, not the retail copy, they probably downloaded it 2 or 3 months before it was in stores.

Hehe, nice, now how do I convert from NTFS back to FAT32?

no doubt DeadCats, people like him need to get the hell out of here and shut...the hell...up! I have a cold sore on on my lip, someone said "what is wrong with your lip?"...I happened to have been here, so I said back to them "I have a draftsman"....then didn't understand, but I was laughing my ass off, lol.. -
maybe because NetMeeting happens to use the most D3D that you'll ever see from a common Microsoft Application.

you hate TNT2 (made by Nvidia) yet Creative Labs should be burned at the stake? ummm...yeah....whatever... You should be getting all of your drivers from Nvidia.com and not Creative Labs for one thing. Also, I remember having that problem and you know what? all I did was take out the video card and push it back in, making sure that it was in good...it booted up fine after that.

When you install Millennium, I have it as a dual boot right now. The version number is 4.90.3000 Today, I just so happen to open my system properities and to my amazement, it said 4.90.3000A A?? What did I install to have it change the number? Anybody else have this? If so, do you remember what you installed to cause the version number to change? Thanks

jdulmage replied to Draftsman's topic in Software
that's quite enough Draftsman, your like a mouse caught in a circle of cats, the cats will destroy you. (DeadCats too, lol) Never, should a 9x user jump into the NT forum and defend it, that's wrong, you'll lose the battle. "I'm going back to Win Me, sorry....I like games too much." huh? did I miss something, is he saying that Win Me runs better for games? Last time I checked and last time I installed compat updates, NT ran games better, sure, I think there may be a few games that don't run or don't run to their highest quality, but either those games blow anyways or there is a way around that. Not to mention that Whistler will have a taste of NT in it, so what? i'm sorry, those don't run games either, is that what your saying? sounds like it. Just like DeadCats, I make a living off of my computer, and to make sure, I have troubleshooted enough to make sure it crashes very little and I make sure I don't give in to people like Draftsman....umm....can't think of anything mean to say to you... . . . WAIT! Draftsman, go into the corner, I left you a next juicy piece of shut the hell up there, go take a few bites. -
can't he just do fdisk /mbr in DOS?
-
Something very interested about my version number.
jdulmage replied to jdulmage's topic in Legacy OS
well for one thing, I hope you ain't stocking me...seriously.. but it's 1 Mbps both ways, I could pay $4.95 more to get 1.544 Mbps or get the Biz thing for 5 Mbps both ways.... -

that's why you stay with the future, no point going backwards in time, when the future is NT anyways. -
yeap, hopefully 3Dfx will release some patches for it
