for NFS5, try to delete gimme.dll and then run it ------------------ Whistler is or will be better than Windows 2000, if you don't think so, get a reality check and hope it doesn't bounce.

I don't even know it off the top of my head... most models are the same **** when it comes to the registry anyways.. just throw a bunch of them here ------------------ Whistler is or will be better than Windows 2000, if you don't think so, get a reality check and hope it doesn't bounce.

heh heh, pre-beta.. I love when people say stupid things about something that hasn't really even started.. <edit> Forgot to also mention that benchmarks were not done on your system there buddy, they were done on a different system, systems vary from each one. </edit> I think i will change my signature to "Whistler is or will be better than Windows 2000, if you don't think so, get a reality check and hope it doesn't bounce" ------------------ ------------------------- Because I can..... ------------------------- [This message has been edited by jdulmage (edited 27 September 2000).]

if Whistler don't impress you now, it will in the future. Because, it's only common sense to like a customizable OS that is now or will be faster than Windows 2000, plus more. If you don't like it, you need to get a reality check and hope that the check doesn't bounce ------------------ ------------------------- Because I can..... -------------------------

I have tried everything, there has to be a way to enable them.. ------------------ ------------------------- Because I can..... -------------------------

1 post? newbie? I think so.. I will just ignore your statement somewhat 1) You can't repair an expired CAT file, therefore, you have no choice but to wait for beta 1 unless my memory serves me right and I can remember how to disable WPF in Whistler. 2) Your smart ass comments will get you nowhere, I learned that. You will be owned by me if you keep it up. 3) Are you jealous of me? Because I can answer these questions on the spot? Yeah, I thought so. Anyone else want to flame him? ------------------ ------------------------- Because I can..... ------------------------- [This message has been edited by jdulmage (edited 26 September 2000).]

and of course, the ruler of Whistler comes to rescue you... it's I, jdulmage, the one that will answer any reasonable whistler question...also ICQ me at 37985648 if you want to talk whistler.. Asking for CD eh? hmm..tough one to figure out...but the answer is simple.. the CAT files are expired in Whistler 2257, therefore, that protection error comes up thinking that your CAT files are invaild everytime you boot up...just wait for beta 1 and those CAT files will not be expired any further.. Thank you for your time!! ------------------ ------------------------- Because I can..... -------------------------

I have to agree, system restore would be very fricken useful. Expect System Restore in Whistler Personal anyways soon. About all I can say. ------------------ ------------------------- Because I can..... -------------------------

First thing.. NEVER DUAL BOOT WITH 1 PARTITION!! It's a mess and conflicts a ton of things, make a second partition or install to a different drive as Clean Install. That's all I can say. ------------------ ------------------------- Because I can..... -------------------------

Whistler 2257 and Neptune 5111 Whats the Difference
jdulmage replied to marcusb79's topic in Hardware
Neptune was going to be the next consumer OS. But MS scrapped the idea of naming OS's after planets, like they had done many years ago with naming operating systems after cities, i.e Windows Memphis and Windows Chicago. MS then decided to keep Neptune for later and worked on Windows Millennium. Whistler idea had passed, internal testing started in October of 1999 (yes, before Windows 2000 was released). Neptune was still it's name, and was basically Windows 2000 with the extra goodies from Millennium (Automatic Up[censored] for example). Really, there then you can't compare one operating system to it's own self. Both OS's are the same thing in the end. Neptune is Whistler and vice versa. Neptune is no longer in development of course and we expect to see Windows 2000 stablity and features added with the Windows Millennium enchancements (System Restore, Automatic Up[censored], etc.) with the 9x support and XML/DHTML coding and new features to form what looks to be a damn good operating system in the end. I had Neptune running on my system for 3 days, it was a nice little thing to have on your computer because you could say to yourself "Other than ***** people and internal MS, nobody else will see this operating system" and it's a nice thing to think about. But 5111 had a lot of bugs in it, so I had to uninstall it and go back to my previous OS [downgrading? hmm ]. so, that's about all I have to say, my view is that Neptune was just the prime for the operating system Whistler. Remember these things before I go. 1) Neptune was a base for Whistler Personal 2) Whistler (Neptune) was started before Windows 2000 was released. (Some people didn't know that). 3) It'll all get better in due time Thank you for this time <edit> I must add, why is the word w4r3z (I can't spell it *****, because it gets blipped out) why is that censored? Give me a break </edit> ------------------ ------------------------- Because I can..... ------------------------- [This message has been edited by jdulmage (edited 23 September 2000).] -
well, it was a tough week without whistler 2257 not being mine... and now as we speak, i'm downloading Whistler Personal build 2257. How sweet it is ------------------ ------------------------- Because I can..... -------------------------

I recently saw this post on ZDNET and I have to say "Why bother going to ZDNET anymore?" http://forums.zdnet.com/group/zd.Anchord...L/@article@4745 that site is the biggest pile of BS I have ever seen, people always expect shit to be perfect, and expect 9x to run 100 % and NT is suppose to run at 0 % (accordingly to them) ------------------ ------------------------- Because I can..... -------------------------

two words for that guy on that site "you dink!" ------------------ ------------------------- Because I can..... -------------------------
-
The reason why is because 1) it's not illegal to post screenshots 2) The webmasters could be testers 3) It's advertisement for them 4) Microsoft is not going to bother singling out each site ------------------ ------------------------- Because I can..... -------------------------

what the hell is this 3 star rating...everyone knows that we worked hard and deserve 5 stars ------------------ ------------------------- Because I can..... -------------------------

LOAD OF BULLSHIT ALERT! Microsoft doesn't leak out betas you idiot, I have seen employees ILLEGALLY leak builds before, but what your saying is so fucking funny, it makes my sides hurt... <edit> I may as well just up and tell you that my mother's friend works at Microsoft, he has told me millions of times that MS doesn't like the leaking of betas, he says it's against policies </edit> ------------------ ------------------------- Because I can..... ------------------------- [This message has been edited by jdulmage (edited 22 September 2000).]
