well..people always say "blah blah blah Ms" and "blah blah blah Windows 2000"... I can almost promise you that this OS will be the best one MS has created, and not by what they say, it's by my experiences and shit. I know a lot of behind the scenes info on Whistler, so I have a fair bit of knowledge in things that aren't even in whistler yet. I know this Os will prevail, and i'll be happy to upgrade (err. obviously he is a dink... this guy goes around saying that Windows 2000 sucks, yet it seems to hardly crash at all? This will all about damn Whistler and they were saying that Whistler is shitty and it will never be any good. exactly... let's think here... Internet Explorer, Opera, NetPositive for BeOS, and many more of the other name browsers seem to load my pages up just fine, but yet in Netscape...hmm...page has errors...I think Netscape needs to think twice before releaseing Netscape 6... hmm, Netscape 6?? What happened to NS 5? Well for those that wish to know, NS 5 was so crappy and full of bugs that NS never really released it. Another example right there.. I rather use a browser that loads page properly, non-bloated (MSN Browser isn't even bloated compared to Netscape, and I like MSN Browser as well).. Face it, NS cannot keep up with today's standards for two reasons 1) It has always sucked 2) AOL owns them Enough said.. ------------------ ------------------------- Because I can..... -------------------------

eddie you fewl...we all know you didn't mean that...considering I had the same sound card..a Ensoniq AudioPCI, I changed to 128 AudioPCI.... I would get Windows 98 drivers from Creative's site....or use the CD that came with your sound card and manually update the drivers (that means, don't use the setup options) and install it that way forgot to mention that creative is lazy because they haven't release Windows Me drivers out yet...but Nvidia and RealTek released drivers for their stuff before Me was released to public ------------------ ------------------------- Because I can..... ------------------------- [This message has been edited by jdulmage (edited 20 September 2000).]

Eddie is half right, they support windows 2000, but they support it very crap like. I mean, you get the drivers, but...I have a SB 128 PCI with Subwoofer set. I can't even hear the bass in windows 2000 because there is no setting to turn up the bass like in windows 9x...with or without manufacturer drivers from the website. So, I hope they get their act straight about that soon ------------------ ------------------------- Because I can..... -------------------------

your not the only one, it is slow in response time, plus it's becoming less and less used... my site brings in 90 % IE, 7 % other and 3 % netscape. Oh oh, had to edit this to include that Netscape doesn't know how to load scripts properly either....my demo site on my computer was uploaded last month, every browser worked with it except Netscape. Windows 2000 Professional takes me 40 seconds to boot from power on to "ready to use"... in whistler professional, it takes me 15 to 20 to do the same thing

well...I will be going to Whistler regardless of, because there will be a crack made anyways

wtf are you talking about? whistler is going to be more than just skins, it's already on average benchmarked faster than windows 2000, there are a whole pile of custom features and new features such as built in Firewalls, Atomic Clock settings, etc. Whistler is going to be the home/consumer STABLE operating system. It has more to do than with just changing the way it looks. ------------------ ------------------------- Because I can..... -------------------------

what I mean by that is that you have to subscribe to MS's Whistler plan which you must pay X dollars a month for using a key...if you do not, then the key expires and goes into "reduced functionality mode" when things will be disabled..although, I trust that someone will come up with a key that is good enough to you know what with the OS... ------------------ ------------------------- Because I can..... -------------------------

Yeah...Frogmaster's comment was something I was considered to say, but I figured it may result in another huge post...so I didn't bother saying it....I myself may use Windows Me right now and it runs 100 % on my system, but...when Whistler is good enough (you could argue that it already is good enough), i'll be moving to that for good. 9x isn't NT or NT compatible....so I don't understand why it's here. ------------------ ------------------------- Because I can..... -------------------------
