really? it runs 100 % of my system...the only thing that screwed it up is when I install Office 10, the hard drive wouldn't stop making noise, but yet in the readme.txt file for office 10 it says not to install it on Windows Millennium yet, wait for later versions ------------------ ------------------------- Because I can..... ------------------------- [This message has been edited by jdulmage (edited 15 September 2000).]

yes....what is strange about it THC, is that Beta 5 of napster works, beta 7 is a no no...I don't know why...possibly the port 6699 or whatever that napsters uses or something...I don't know, but I have submitted the bug to MS already....*me hints that i'm a tester* anyways... that is a strange one P.S: Atomic clock features in Whistler rule!!!!!

you could say "Windows Me" sucks....but I can tell you that it's better than Windows 2000 as of this date for these reasons 1) Compatibility is good in ME, windows 2000 as just touched the surface on that issue 2) SubWoofer and bass settings, i have a SB 128 and no drivers for 2000 allow me to turn up the bass, therefore, my subwoofer sounds like "just another speaker"...next to no bass comes out of it. 3) no windows based ip configuration, therefore winipcfg with it's windows 32-bit base doesn't exist in 2000. you have to type ipconfig and it brings up a lovely, gay DOS box and let's hope that the box doesn't "close on exit" 4) Too many DLL files, it's a mess. So over all, if you want an OS...use the one that your currently using, if your using a 9x kernel, and want to goto Me, just do it and wait for whistler, because whistler is removing a lot of it's dll crap, and making it for both home and work, and it'll be the gaming stable OS that people are looking for. P.S: 0 problems with Windows Me as of this date, running it since April 2000 in it's beta stages. ------------------ ------------------------- Because I can..... -------------------------

i know that...but maybe it isn't MS that is making them...maybe other companies or other affilates are making them and giving them to MS to use in future Whistler builds.... you never know

sources say that you should expect to see those icons go back onto the desktop or at least have an option to do that. I was told that they only took the icons off to test the start panel to make sure you could access My Computer and all of those through the panel

Well.. How do you know if MS is making those skins or not? I mean...maybe they said to companies to make them but make sure you keep the Start Menu and Desktop looking the same, but change it anyway you can? I mean, it's too early into pre-beta to figure that out. ------------------ ------------------------- Because I can..... -------------------------

well I can tell you that MS is only doing this because they want their OS to be customizable like that of Linux...I don't really care myself, I like the OS, it's stable, faster and overall better than Windows 2000 anyday...
