Quote: I was going to say that I think regmon is what he's looking for, but you just pointed that out. Also, JD has a point with regards to essentially "advertising" a product here. We do have the other forum for selling stuff, but as people are actually trying it and submitting results I guess it isn't a big deal (just as long as it isn't repeated). The reason why JD's posting went over like a lead balloon wasn't just because of him advertising, he was promoting a product that wasn't available for testing, and he was a total a$$ to boot. Hence, no real double standard for the same situation in my eyes as the situations are in actuality a bit different. clutch is right, I didn't present that well at all...but like I've said to Phillip, the past was full of those kinds of mistakes. -
Voodoo 1 and Voodoo 2 always showed up there. So if it's installed and it works, it's no problem. Also, Admiral...that picture was meant as a summary of my words (basically, go and search, because I have no clue this time), so why tell me to shut up. It's called having fun, and no one took offense to it except you.

It's a cool and funny picture that I use all the time....It was a summary of my words, like I explained in my response I just posted. It isn't there to offend anyone, it's basically one of those "I have no ****ing clue how to help you this time" pictures.

yea, well, a lot of them are people who register just to see what it's all about, over 50% of them leave and never return. Also, a lot of names are registered in hopes that they can plug a product/advertise/website and then 50% of those people never return either. So you'd be lucky if 2,000 of the members posted here more often than not. But out of 2,000, maybe 15% of them post on a regular basis.

ATI has crappy drivers, I will never buy one. My cousin has an ATI, great card, but it freezes up every game he has at one random time or another with any drivers he uses.
-
well...if the problem disappears when you move the card, then leave it where it is...obviously the PCI slot is damaged or something.

What do you consider the best computer game ever made?
jdulmage replied to pr-man's topic in Slack Space
You've had that? I think during the entire time I suffered through DS, I almost died once, and that was in Hard mode, in that spot with the gremlings. The rest of the game was easy, the ending was horribly easy to win over. DS is one of those "quick fix" games, you play it, you beat it, you remove it. I was never addicted to the game, and I've played almost every RPG there is, console or PC. -
Microsoft has stopped supporting Voodoo 2 on the XP operating system because even the manufacturer is gone and doesn't support it anymore, so I don't blame them.
-
Well, considering it will be in SP1, it's pointless to get... I am downloading it now, because I don't have the problem. I also downloaded .NET Framework even though I don't use it, but I like to have 0 Updates sitting on Windows Update.

Quote: ^^^^ true true, but PC's will never go down, cause consolses can never do what PC's do, and never will be able to do all that PC's do, cause then they would not be 'gaming consoles" now would they. I don't know about that, with the way that the Xbox is going, in the next 5 years, it may become an all-purpose box that does TV, Music, Games, Applications, etc. all in one easy to setup box. -
Elliot, he is from Israel, you don't have the right to fix his spelling mistakes But he's right, they have been out of business for a while now and the best thing is to just hang in there until you can afford to purchase a new one.

Quote: Did you click the link on the page? It's this one: http://support.microsoft.com/search/preview.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q321178 So, I am guessing that it's real afterall. true, but what I'm SAYING is that it's not...I've never once come up with that error and neither has anyone I know that has an AMD system. So either they are talking about the old Athlons or they just really have me confused. But #2, where I said that The Inquirer is unreliable...that part still stands, because it's true.
-
1) It's not true 2) It's Mega LOL, because The Inquirer is an untrustworthy, unreliable piece of ****.
-
hahahaha, yea, post it here

I know, you get that "feeling" of just wanting to reinstall stuff, haha

k, try my other suggestion with taking out unnecessary hardware
-
You check to make sure you have the jumpers (usually on the back side of the device) set as a slave and make sure you have it set that way in the BIOS too? That's all I can think of...unless you have a PCI Video Card and it is conflicting with the PCI Bridge on the computer.
-
oh yeah, and the 7e type errors are based on hardware. Try removing all unneccessary devices from your computer. Probably only need hard drive, RAM, floppy, video, monitor, keyboard and mouse. Then try to boot it and see what happens.
-
you've got me stumped. What you should do is do the F8 before boot to display the list of choices, try Last Known Good Configuration. If that doesn't work, use Debug Mode, so that it makes a txt file, when it messes up, boot in to DOS using a boot disk or whatever and copy the file to disk, and post it here, lol, so I can see more of it. Alternatively, give it the old "format c: /q" and do it over. Sorry I can't be of much help, because I am not sure what you were doing last on the machine when it started displaying that or anything.

I think that has something to do with NOSMOKE.EXE

haha I don't even have the beep, I disconnected the PC speaker. Jokes on me

Same here Alien, I had my problems with XP...I was tested it since pre-beta stages, and even when it went RTM, I wasn't satisfied, but once the world caught up with it and came out with drivers, I haven't had a problem yet. I would still have the same install of XP on my system (October 2001) right now if I wasn't so addicted to reinstalling Windows and fiddling around with optimizations.
