i had 2481 on this computer for a month or so with no problems even with rc1 it rebooted several times with no problems

No it will not boot in safe mode i have info i would rather not lose on that partition if possible

i upgraded xp to rc1. all went well and then the next day i booted into xp and got the blue screen with "unmountable_boot_volume" message whats the best way to fixing this problem? thanks

With a little more probing what seems to be happening, is any device driver I install or any system setting that i change in control panel disappears after reboot

there is nothing plugged into the serial ports yet windows 2k detects them every boot and the printer has power to it continually

I have a fugitsu drive 9.6 gig intel bx chipset ive tried win 2k as the only os with no difference also no change without SP1

whether its a dual boot setup or i have just one operating system installed win 2k will keep redetecting serial ports and INSTALLED usb devices after reboot. Also in win2k installed printers go away after reboot in win 98se everythings fine soyo 6baIII -latest bios celeron 566 with slocket2 128k micron pc100 ram win 98se and or win 2k new disk w/sp1

also win me or 98 work fine on this machine i thought i may have had a bad win2k cd so i puchased another,(has sp1 updates on it) but does same thing

Its a Soyo 6ba-III with the latest bios

after i install printer drivers everything goes ok until reboot, then printer disappears Also all usb devices get redetected after every reboot and com ports get redetected after every reboot
