I tried that, Outlook wouldnt check the account, besides, I'd reather use Outlook Express, so again, anyone know a way to remove the ads ? --Cynan
-
Now how about the ads in Outlook Express when using it with Hotmail? --Cynan.

You can choose what components you want in 2K. There is a file called... er.. s.. something .inf (sorry, not on a 2K machine atm so I cant check what its called). You edit it, removing all the instances of the word 'hide', and then use Add/Remove Programs to remove (or add) the stuff you want. I'll post the files name in here later if no one else has by then. --Cynan.

How about the adverts that can appear under the Send Message box ? its not happened to me, but a few friends suffer from this. Anyway to get rid of those ? Thanks. --Cynan.

Does it really matter ? its personal choice.. 1. SB Live!Drive II. 2. Removable IDE Caddy. 3. CD-ROM. 4. DVD-ROM. 5. CD-RW. --Cynan.

Ewww, ewww, ewww, ewww, ewwwwwwwwwwwww.... *hates the luna skin*. Personaly, I'll select the skin that looks like the current one - or make my own, its should be greeeeeey !!!! just like cases should be beige !! heh. --Cynan.

I didn't say you had to do both of the steps, I said 'either'. :-P --Cynan.

You can either: 1. Copy the 2000a, 2000b and the UIN directories to back up everything 2. Go to the Message History, right click on the contact list, then on export (I think of the top of my head). There is currently no way to export your messages - I don't think (only back then up), anyone ? --Cynan.

Hi. Currently I have two machines networked together directly, but I'm thinking, well, am going to, add another machine. So the question is, should I buy a hub, or go for a switch ? As I have have 3 machines, I think a hub would be fine, does everyone agree ? Oh.. and the ones I'm thinking about are both NetGear, DS106 and FS105. Thanks. --Cynan. Agreed. Mixing memory speeds isn't a good idea. The chip could also be faulty as suggested above, and to test it, you can use a program such as MemTest86, which can be found here... http://reality.sgi.com/cbrady_denver/memtest86/ --Cynan.

Hey, anyone got, or know where to find, the firmware for this drive ? Cheers. --Cynan.

Its ones of those small things in 2K that really sucks (DONT SHOOT ME !). If you move a card around without first uninstalling it, 2K will not only keep the drivers and settings for it loaded, but also hide it from view. I had this problem with both a NIC and a modem. I tried searching through the registry for all instances of my network card, and deleting keys that appeared relevant (touch and go I can tell you), and that seemed to work to a degree, though in the end, I started a fresh, I advise the same. I do believe someone else with the modem problem fixed it though using something called Connection Manager. Sorry I can't be of any further help. --Cynan. The naming of Windows NT was that the guy who wrote most of the underlying stuff also wrote VMS, hence WNT - the next letter on in the alphabet. --Cynan.

Hi. Does anyone know of any ICS alternatives that *fully* support ICQ and NetMeeting ? The other thing to mention is a firewall. I was using ZoneAlarm Pro, but this is not fully compitable with dual systems, and doesn't seem to work fully with ICS and ICQ either. Any suggestions ? someone suggested NetWatcher to me. Thanks. --Cynan. [This message has been edited by Cynan (edited 11 January 2001).]

I have no idea. ... gonna try that PhonePatch thing later anyway, if it works I'll be happy. Thanks for your help though. --Cynan.

O'kay, found something called PhonePatch that might do the trick, any thoughts? --Cynan.

Right, I've been using WinRoute for a while now and I'm very impressed. The only problem I have is with NetMeeting. The thing is, those dynamic UDP ports. Grrr. I have 2 client machines see, so I can't just tell WinRoute to map all the ports to the one NetMeeting sits on. I've mapped all of the single TCP and UDP ports that it (NetMeeting) uses, but what can I do about the dynamic ones ? is there any particular band that NetMeeting tends to use ? Thanks. --Cynan.

QEMM was top, PC Tools ? never did like that, I've used Norton since the beginning, still do, and as you say DosFreak, Speed Disk is the best. However, the best tool pre-95 ? well, it clearly has to be XT Gold. Now that rocked. --Cynan.

:-P O'kay, I usually buy stuff from Dabs.com, but as the hub I wanted was out of stock, and the switch wasn't, the switch it is. lol. Chears all, --Cynan.
-
Thanks for the info clutch. I'll sleep on it I think. heh. --Cynan.
-
I had problems with 10Mb and 100Mb cards talking to each other also. I usually set them all to 100Mb/s Full Duplex and then they all work fine. I think I've decided to go for a hub, with cables on top, the price is still lower then what a switch would be... me happy. Thanks. --Cynan.

Indeed. I believe programs like RealPlayer send info. outside. Grrr @ it. --Cynan.
-
Actually I have been scaned, and I did use ZoneAlarm at one point. Now I use a router, allowing only certain ports (that I want) to be accessiable outside. I see no reason to have a firewall on top of that. --Cynan.
