    Hardware accleration in PowerDVD?

Where is this option? my PowerDVD (also 3) doesn't have it. DVD Genie (which runs PowerDVD) does, update that.

    Hardware accleration in PowerDVD?

If you mean the box in DVD Genie, update your copy. Mine used to be disabled too.
  3. It happens when NetMeeting crashes. The fix is simply to reload NetMeeting up and close it down again.
  4. I don't use the 4-in-1s, but when I install Nero 5.5 it stops me from accessing any of my CD drives. I'm sticking with 5.0. I read somewhere that it merges something into the registry causing a conflict. *shrugs*.

JJ32 gave me an intriuging idea...

You can't do that with hardware - I don't think. The way you work around it is to use threads when transfering the data, like when bounding DSL connections.

My friend uses it, it balances the load across them.

The S/W is there, trust me, its called multipoint or something, I'll post the link in here later. It can be run on 2K Pro to balancing the load across two or more interfaces.

Yes... I'd say so. There is software out there that lets you combine connections together. A friend uses such a thing on her ISDN and modem connections.

HELP! Copying CD with drives on same IDE

Yes it would, providing there the only thing on each of the two chains. You see IDE can't do simultaneous read and writes (unlike SCSI), so when one device is reading, thats it, nothing else can read or write. So if you have your source drive is being read from, and then something else accesses say a HD on the same chain, ut oh... problem. Nero does have a buffer though, and most writers do now too, so you should beable to get away with it.

    The search dog gotta go

Kinda a silly move by MS to include it really. I mean they've only just got rid of that damn paperclip!!

    Admins; New Forums.

Hi, do you think you can add say, XP to the end of each of them? i.e. Applications XP. The reason I ask is when I do a "View New Posts", it only shows Applications as being the forum, and not the group as well.

If you do a 'View New Posts', then you don't know what section the thread comes from as there were two 'Applications' cropping up. Personaly I found that annoying, I like to know what section the threads from.
  15. Well SP2 for 2K supposed to have there own drivers, and whenever I've tried the 4-in-1s in the past, they're caused me some problem or another. My system works fine enough without em. Can't fault your logic with #1 & 2! heh, though ppl say 98 is generally faster for games.
  16. Erm, this don't help much, but why do you need to reformat so you have the same OS for a LAN game? thats just silly. All the networking stuff is independant of the OS. I'd advise not to use the VIA drivers btw. I don't.

Cyberlink Power DVD on High Res

Anyone know what that new PowerDVD 3 VR-X is? and what the changes are etc?
  18. I didn't at the time either, but when I create a partition in Disk Manager this one time, it created it as a Dynamic Disk. There was no option to chose 'basic' that I could see. Anyway, I though what the heck, its not doing any harm. Then later on I found I couldn't access it under DOS, PQM couldn't alter it, I was left with 30 or so gigs of data that I needed to shift to reformat the thing in DOS. Nightmare. I did it though. Good luck with your problem.
  19. Dynamic Disks are when you use 2Ks software RAID and all that jazz I think, I'm not too sure. As for version 5 of PQ Magic, I'm not sure if that supports 2Ks NTFS, could try upgrading, or speak to PowerQuests technical support. You can run version 6 inside 2K itself, very cool.

    W2k forgets window settings?

RAS showing more characters is a security feature, so that any onlookers don't actually no how longs the password is. Well I say feature, might be just a bug, but it always works for me even though the password is shown has being longer then what it is.
  21. PQ Magic has always worked fine for me, dunno if it will when using EFS (Encrption File System - think thats right) though. What version are you using? I have version 6. Oh one more thing, PQ Magic can't manage Dynamic Disks, if your using them you can "downgrade" them back into basic ones via Disk Manager.

A Word about the SB Live!

Pirated version of the SB Live!? eh?

A Word about the SB Live!

I'm using 2K SP2 with LiveWare3 and upon doing an upgrade to XP RC1, my sound was all stuttery (yeah I know the flesh install and using MSs drivers fix that, just saying).

    Carmagedon 2.

Hey. A friend on mine is trying to get this game to work under 2K. As they live in another country I'm unable to have a good mess around with it, so maybe you lot can help. Has anyone been able to get this game working under 2K? TIA.

    Disabling ACPI

MPS, MultiProcessor System(?). Back before ACPI was around, MPS is the HAL you had to be using if you had more then 2 processors in your machine. Basically its two ways to skin a cat. One with power mamanagement (ACPI), and one without (MPS). Though saying that, MPS 1.4 does have some power mamanagement features. Most ppl seem to run MPS as ACPI causes some type of problem and they never turn there computer off anyway, so why the need for that nice auto-shutdown feature? However, I do use ACPI myself - even though I don't shutdown my machine either - its for that "what if" time. heh.
