Quote: Well, I am not concerned with those two article since they do not comprise of information on SP2. What I am concerned is regarding Windows 2000 and SP2? Any further thoughts? ARC But they do comprise of information on Microsoft no?

Kenwood is a sh*t company. Now you understand that.

I would like to create a shortcut for the newsgroup program on my desktop. It is for the file msimn.exe. I have Outlook 2000 installed on my computer and the problem I'm having is that when I double click on this file to get their instead of going through Outlook 2K and clicking on view--->go to--->news it will try to get me to register Outlook 97 as the default mail client. What variable can I put in the desktop shortcut so that it always opens it with Outlook 2K? I don't want to have to take the check out of the box so that it doesn't check this.

That did it!!! Thanks for both of your guy's help! To bad I'm now using Agent as my default news reader....HAR!
-
Sorry that didn't help by adding that to the command line. It still comes up asking me if I want Outlook 6 as my default email program.

Like Ekstreem I also run my sound through a SB Live and an amp. The volume in Divx movies is typically lower when I play back a movie, but I think that's normal. Sometimes you just get shitty quality Divx movies too. I've played some that were barely watchable and others that looked better than my TV. It all depends on the quality of the movie I guess.

I was previously using IE 5.5 and it was a very good browser, would almost never crash. Now I have 6.0 public preview and it's a little different, but still very stable. It takes a little bit longer to open though. I wouldn't recommend it on a machine slower than 400Mhz + 160MB ram.

I haven't had any problems, but I always click the check box so that it doesn't warn me again, but it keeps coming up with that box everytime I use it. It actually did that before Service Pack 2. It did that in SP1 also.

I checked before I even downloaded and the version offered for download and the version I had were exactly the same number.
-
Ha, I got the same error.

Noway! I'm gonna check it out! Cool!

In order to fix the screw-ups with the Promise controller follow my instructions here http://www.amdmb.com/vb/showthread.php?threadid=35497 Asus will never respond to you or try to help you fix your problem in any way. Believe me they won't, so don't even waste your time.

Are you using the latest RAID bios? I'm using the latest RAID bios 1008X/FXD dated 5-13-01. It's great! No more data corruption or BSOD when copying between hard drives. Make sure you download the FastTrack drivers from the site aswell. When your system is back up and running and you have the Fasttrack drivers installed make sure you delete the evian.sys file.

How many here have had problems with a Via chipset?
PsychoSword replied to Brian Frank's topic in Hardware
I can't even begin to list all the issues the Asus A7V had when it first came out. And still many of them remain unfixed. It seems mostly the people that want functionality out of their computers or the ones that try to use them to their full potential have problems because basically these VIA boards won't do what they were advertised as being able to do. The people that play solitaire and check email once a week aren't going to notice any of the problems that professional/power users will notice. Example: The data corruption on the Promise controller is not noticed by many people because 1) Most people only have one hard drive. 2) Many people don't enable DMA support for their hard drives most people don't even know what the hell DMA is. 3) Most people don't copy large files between hard drives. See what I'm getting at......VIA in my opinion has been selling trash for the past few years and continues to do so because they have been getting away with it. My advice to all serious computer users, avoid VIA like the plague. -
At first when I installed I thought this was a bug, hell maybe it is I dunno, but you know that little toobar with the 4 icons on it that pops up whenever you put your cursor over an image such as a jpg? Well that's annoying and it's especially annoying because whenever I have my cursor on the desktop that little toolbar comes up in the upper left hand corner of my desktop beneath the icons. How do I disable that annoying little thing? And why does Microshaft continue to put crap like this in programs.
-
Thanks dude. It was under advanced. It was the one labeled "enable image toolbar" or some **** like that. Thanks!
-
Sorry but that's not an option for me. I want to get rid of toolbar without having to turn off active desktop. I like having nice backgrounds.

I'm tired of waiting for these damn fixes for my O/S and for my motherboard and for everything else that never seems to materialize. Can someone please tell me when the fvck SP2 is going to come out? Or even if someone could tell me where I can download RC 2.52. This is the latest version of the SP2 right?
-
I know alot of the fixes are available as hot fixes, but you have to keep reinstalling them to get them to work right and I'm not sure they really work that well anyways. The supposed final versions of all the fixes will be in the SP2 such as the chipset ID patches, and a million other things. And I'm hoping SP2 will fix a couple other problems.

Is InnoculateIT personal free edition the best anti-virus fo
PsychoSword replied to pr-man's topic in Software
Ya, I actually read an article a little while back that talked about how Mcafee missed some virus's on a test machine. I'm happy with Norton so far. It caught a virus for me last week. As far as memory hogging how do you figure? I just checked my tasks and the two norton related items are taking up 1.8 and 2.5 megs. How is that memory hogging? -

Norton is the best antivirus right now. I've read lots of tests between soft***** antivirus stuff and norton always comes out on top -
Which do you guys prefer, Wordperfect Suite 8 or Microsoft O
PsychoSword replied to pr-man's topic in Software
Wordperfect has way more features, but it's so buggy with illegal ops and such that you can't even use it anymore. I installed WP Office 2000 and later Service Pack 3 on my Windows 2000 computer and now I cannot open Wordperfect, but Quattro Pro opens fine. When I checked on the error message it said I needed buy Service Pack 4 from Corel to fix the issue. Bah!
