Click HERE and choose the one that's appropriate for your system. If you just disconnected the printer(not uninstall it) then when you turn it on again and windowsxp asks for driver installation just choose the option where it says something like "search for drivers(automatically) and it will find the already installed drivers in your system. Well the problem is no exactly a problem since it's not serious at all but it's a bit irritating. Every time i restart my PC the icons on the taskbar area of my computer are automatically hidden. So i go and select the icons i want active and the ones that i want inactive from the startmenu properties. If i restart the system all icons are hidden again, and i have once more to manually select the ones i want hidden and the ones i don't. Anyone came across this ever?BTW i'm using XP Pro w/SP2 Thanks for reading.

Make sure that you turn the system restore off since the malware copies itself there every time there is a system backup and also boot in SAFE MODE so that no lame processes are running that might copy themselves again after deleting the files. Then simply run ALL the above programs starting with Ad-aware SE(that's a new version that you can get it from lavasoft and it includes removal of browser hijack) and then hijackthis and spybot. A friend had the same problem and after running the above i got rid of it completely.

Well you can't accuse MS for warcraft 2. The game was made for windows 95-98 and it's quite reasonable that it will have problems playing in a non-dos environment like XP. Blizzard could make a patch but don't forget that all software companies stop support their software after new versions come out. It's a bit more complicated than that...

Problems with Service Pack 2 to Windows XP
thymios replied to michaeljbrooks's topic in Everything New Technology
If you want to view the BSOD then boot in safe mode and then go to mycomputer->properties->advanced then on the "Startup and Recovery Section" click settings and then on "system failure" unclick the "Automatically restart" option. Hope it helps -
I've tried virtually everything to run warcraft 2 and ultima underworld 1 and 2 in windows xp over a year ago. The result was a very big zero! Tried all the patches i could find on the internet, suggestions, configs, EVERYTHING. There is one simple solution. Find a very old HDD (1-2GB!) install win98SE and have it for the game only! Wish there is another straight solution but...

you can use "ping host >test.txt"(without the quotes of course) The results of the command will be printed on the file named test.txt For multiple files create a batch file (.bat) and write as many ping commands you want like the one up followed by carriage return.e.g. "ping host1 >test1.txt" "ping host2 >test2.txt" "ping host3 >test3.txt" Then all you have to do is run the batch file from the command prompt and you're done. The only thing i haven't managed to find yet is how to append information to the files created(every time you run the command with the same filename specified the file is overwriten). I'll ask some guru's at work and i might come up with the answer soon!

CHKDSK runs every bootup...already tried the common fix, no help
thymios replied to overdub's topic in Software
try booting to the windows recovery console and then run from the prompt chkdsk /F to run the check from non windows environment. This might unblock it. -
try to update your internet browser. If it's IE you can do so by going to windows update. If it's Netscape...good luck!

Problems with Service Pack 2 to Windows XP

Originally posted by kycuddlelove: Quote: I downloaded and installed service pack 2 for win os xp and it crashed my computer and deleted windows operating system. It is definitely not ready yet. Yeah right...I installed also sp2 and my cat died and also the electricity went off. Come on! In my computer winxp sp2 works fine so far. I installed it also on my work computer and it's ok there too. I've heared though many people complaining about sp2 making their machines slow or having installation problems. I guess some of us are lucky to have "compatible" sp2 hardware while others are not. Obviously a software company cannot test such a major OS update on every singe hardware combination that exists in the world. And since no earth software is bug free it's very reasonable for some or even many users to have problems. Regards -
First of all welcome to the forum. You have to ask your friend that built your computer and be more specific about things (like hardware, OS, service packs, drivers, possible patches, software) because your description is too general and there might be hundreds of things that you might have to go through in order to find a workaround for the problem. For us to help you you will have to provide a bit more information i'm afraid. Take care.
