Mr.Guvernment replied to pr-man's topic in Games

Quote: 1. In the main I'm trying to convert mp3's on my PC to .wav so why not just get a free mp3 2 wav converter instead of this whole hassle? -
Best program to split big mp3 into seperate songs in WAV?
Mr.Guvernment replied to pr-man's topic in Software
^^^^^ no need to convert them to wave, your burning software will do it all for you now. - that is if u can edit it in mp3 format. -
how old are those games? i don't think they would run, maybe under compat mode, maybe.

going to be building a pretyt new rig for ym uncles. he always uses intel - tiold him to try AMD for once. i want to get him (and he usually gets what i recommend) a dual 3000+ set up - if not, one for now. waiting for ATI to pop out more 256mb cards or see what their new r350 can do. not sure of the rest of the details yet. - likely dual 19" trinitrons, - or possibly LCD's if by the time we get to that part prices are decent.

Well 1. What exaclty are you trying to do, simply convert an MP3 ON your computer to wav? or 2. Trying to record a streaming source via Winamp? if number to use Streamripper 32 it can record any streaming audio from winamp. if u want to convert from mp3 2 wav - use a program to do this. -

Mr.Guvernment replied to pr-man's topic in Everything New Technology
Xp still - i still find it superioor to 2k in the way i use O/S'. and mainly for me, stablity. heck so far longhorn is more stable for me then what 2k was last time i tried it for the heck of it. -

^^^^ yeppers, i didn't doubt your post, just providing some info thas all! and yes, i don't think the AIW is meant for over clocking as it is a multimedia card - not a gamers card i really hope they start to pop out the 256mb versions soon! or get their new r350 cards out! -
Anyone have an experience with the A7N8X motherboard?
Mr.Guvernment replied to Mr.Guvernment's topic in Hardware
^^^ well, haven't bought it yet - due to the numerous 8xAGP problems, and as u stated batterie issues people are having - i believe they are making a new revision of this board? (2.0 or 1.1) or i may have miss read it as it maybe abit and one of their boards. but yeah, no Nvidia card - my uncles will be buying an ATi card as him much like me - simply prefer them, as it will likely be a AIW - preferably a 256mb version when they finally pop em out. Just over on hardcop forums - alot of people having various issue with this board, but read an FAQ on how to get it working okay, so hope that does it, if this board is the one to be bought. This would be his first AMD cpu - so want to try and make it as easy for him as possible, as he does not really have the knowledge to read throuh forums and understand what is what, so i am more of less his computer consultant. -
have u tried using windows Xp compatibility mode?

the FBI and CIA haev admitted there weak spot would be against a cyber attack, and that the US could be brough to it's knee's upon a large enough attack was made on the US's systems. scary thought really, think i will keep my money where i know it is safe! @ home in a safe!

Mr.Guvernment replied to Mr.Guvernment's topic in Hardware
yeah, i haven't sene any 3000+ supported - or any that say directly they will support and 3k, only like 2800+ and faster! - well more detial would be nice, like how much faster? Just i have been hearing and hearing alot fo issues with ASUS newest mobo and how u got alot of prep work just to get it booting right. -
^^^^^ yeah, but for many that would be to easy to take such a simple step to secure their system, which should have be done already.

GeForce FX vs Radeon 9700 - your thoughts? - official thread

Quote: Quote: the AIW would be good, how much less is the clock speeds on the AIW compare to the pro, i don't think it is much. From everything I've read, it isn't. All the 9700 AIWs I've seen are Pros as well. yeppers - but it uses diff. memory Quote: Unlike the Pro, which has a small shim placed underneath a cluster of capacitors, the AIW 9700 Pro doesn't come designed in that manner. Rather it seems that ATI has chosen to use a few mini-RAM sinks on a couple of voltage converters. (Pictured above left: left Radeon 9700 Pro, right AIW 9700 Pro.) As for the memory, the AIW seems to have undergone another design change. Both the AIW 9700 Pro and the Radeon 9700 Pro are packed with 128MB@310MHz, but the change I am referring to is the rated memory chip. Instead of the Samsung 2.3ns MicroBGA DDR SDRAM, the All-In-Wonder 9700 Pro get Samsung 4.7ns MicroBGA DDR SDRAM. (Pictured above right: left Radeon 9700 Pro, right AIW 9700 Pro.) I am sure many are curious, as to how that will effect performance. The fact of the matter is that it won't. Both utilize the EXACT same memory and clock speeds. [For spec sake, I thought it worthwhile to mention.] Meanwhile, ATI pulls out one of the biggest improvements on the All-In-Wonder line in over FIVE some years. The past AIW cards, including the relatively recent 7500/8500, which as still much in use, used a Rage Theater chip. This overhaul was much needed, and brings the All-In-Wonder line further up to date with better video and audio quality, compared to the past generations. -

^^^ exatcly - take the few mins on a high speed con. to get the latest IE - perhaps if SP 4 final comes out, it will have all IE updates and someone will "release" a version of win2k sp4 integrated, or you can make your own.

XP with SP1 gave me no issues, so must be something with your system, and not MS do am search here, there are a few thread on 2k vs. XP. personally - i like Xp far more stable for me.

Quote: i must say, i LOVE reformating, i think it is some sick fetish i got..lol is like, brand new, crisp and clean! start from scratch, - i think it has to do with me being a neat freak, that a fresh format seems so "clean" no corrupted files, all from scratch! i like to format, and put in my apps all neat and non fragmented!..lol - although it may take a few days for me to get in everything i got, after a format i only install things as i need them.

AOL - The truth behind their software/service etc
Mr.Guvernment replied to BladeRunner's topic in Slack Space
well m8 good replys! and i can imagine alot of errors is due to users - but also, some due to AOL wanting to make it's almost "own" policies as for the link - it is about AOL cd's and how they send them out and try to get everyone to use them, it is actuallt amusing as opposed to bashing, in a way. as for the disconnects - this was something 9to which i shoudl have mentioned) that AOL admitted to some customers, how ever there is some settings that u can change IN aol to fix this, almost as if disconnect people, but if they comeplain we can override it. as for the game, it is not a FPS , but an online [censored] software, so does not need NEARLY as much bandwidth. -

Well "rumour" has it that Nvidia is only making a limited number of the cards, 100,000, and are leaving this card and concentrating ona better one. frankly, i think it is too late and ATi will now be king for a while, if nividia screws up like this again.
