The: What Computer Part did you buy this week thread
Mr.Guvernment replied to DosFreak's topic in Slack Space
lol guess i dont have to worry about namiung a kid after you now :0 i am glad u got it! as for performace the 9800 is about %10 more then the 9700 the XT is about %10 more then the 9800 - this is why they called it the Xt and not a new line of cards. - and supposedly the r420 will be %50 faster - due to PCI express - but not likely. but still from a ti4600 to a XT is a NICE jump - i went from a ti4600 to a 9700PRO and that was impressive to me! as for problems - ATI has had problems - they are MUCH better now with the catalyst suit of drivers - 3.9's has some issues and so did 3.8 but 3.7 were rock stable! So alex - when u going to start to overclock and mod that card! - have you considered a volt mod or too once the card starts to show it's age? -
Clutch - as usual TYAN has some great boards out already for opterons

Daymare! One do drive you nuts.
Mr.Guvernment replied to CyberGenX's topic in Everything New Technology

Bandwidth limiting.......
Mr.Guvernment replied to Radioactive Frog's topic in Everything New Technology
^^^ thing is with that software ui have to install it on each computer and if your user of that system has admin access they can remove it unless you are using a system with ICS - but if you got a router -
screen resolution wont change on lappy?
Mr.Guvernment replied to Radioactive Frog's topic in Everything New Technology
that is your screens max size then - laptops rarely go above 1024 x 768 and LCDs are a fixed resolution of 60 or 70mhz. -
Movie maker (From Pics) Needed...
Mr.Guvernment replied to Lotus's topic in Everything New Technology
u dont need a dvd burner - vcd /svcd can be made with regualr cd-r's NERO can make vcds as long as the video file is an mpeg - u can buy plug'ins as well to convert other file types. to make a movie if u have XP - MS movie maker cna probably do it. other wise u can to roxio - they have some programs - Ulead / Pinnacle um, Adobe they all have programs you can use - just depends how much $$ u want to spend. -
So, where do i start? i only need it for a week or so. what is a quick way to do this? can i do it with out uising MS Proxy 2 or the newest one they have out? are there other options that will let me run a secure proxy server?
-
of course AA and fsaa turned off give u more FPS also u can turn off eye candy with in the games options and run @ ares of 1024 x 768 and such what is your system specs?

Anything better than Quake 3 and UT 2003 in the FPS Genre?
Mr.Guvernment replied to pr-man's topic in Games
Call of Duty Tron 2 - WICKED looking on a 9700PRO Max Payne 2! - just rules! LOTR - the new one - hack and slash! hack and slash..lol - i found - but nice graphics and good interaction with in the game. Delta Force - Black Hawk Down - online play rules! - this is my favorite game! -
it frooze on mne wiht a 9700PRO with aa / fsaa on or off - did not matter. i have tried all cats from 3.2 and up - often i got that ATI VPN recovery error - so ii tried older cat's and still the same thing it often happened when i quickly turned around!. i think it is a game issue and hopefully and update will fix.
-
yes the ti4200 / ti4600 beat out manyh of the low end FX cards - until u start to use alot of AA and FSAA. but that is sad that a last gen cards beats it new counter part! for your system about - a 9600XT or PRO or even a ti4200 if u wont play many new game out would do and dont want to spend too much.`
-
get RivaTuner - MUCH better then coolbits. PS - have you considered doing a bios flash with the new settings? this will save the wear on your video card going from stock settings to software and such on reboots - often straining your card more then you need to.

Quote: for many people the AMD systems have been easier than the intel systems from ALL the reading i have done do - i would say you are wrong - many people have more issues with AMD boards - mainly the chipsets in the AMD boards often needing up[censored] and various jumpers being set. many forums i visit in AMD section they have stickes for various AMD board - "what to do before you install windows" type deals - as in you have to tweak your mobo before you even get windows on it! most intel based boards are ready to go! - with the exception of VIA , hehe P.S - have Xeon's been considered due to their large cache? as i would think Xeon's would be better for what you want...

What's better a OEM Raedeon 9200 or a Retail box 9200?
Mr.Guvernment replied to Copernicus's topic in Hardware
what is your price range? and 64mb 8500 Radeon performs better then a 9200. -
u all need to get out more
-
^^^^ exactly - that is what i was always told. Anyways with the opteron and FX chips intel will still be the top man - just AMD will increase sales and possible get some market share back. how ever AMD is now locking their barton cores which has upste alot of hardcore AMD users who from reading are now willing to go intel. anyways - cant wait to build \my dual opteron system in 2004!

I think I found the heatsink that will go onto my next rig!
Mr.Guvernment replied to Down8's topic in Hardware
i got a thermaltake Spark 7 for my p4 2.4 @ 2.9 - this thing hits 7031RPM on high speed! it keeps my cpu temp around 28C on idle with an rpm around 5200 and about 36-38C on full load whether @ 6000rpm or 7031RPM - pending on time of day. -
Alec if u want ti turn up AA and FSAA get ATi - i swear - u have seen what i have said before. Do you really trust NVIDIA with their "optimizations" - weith their complete hardware lack of pixel shader - which were NOT fixed in the 5950 as that would of involved a NEW core on the chip. dont do it man! trust me! dont do it! ATi at the moment is the better card - NVIDIA is cutting quality for a few more FPS and even then ATI in 99% of tests once AA and FSAA are turned on @ 2x and above the 9800PRO and up are leaving nvidia in the dust!

Mr.Guvernment replied to duhmez's topic in Buy, Sell or Trade
vewry tempting - i am considering it - the main issue is shipping - i have a p.obox with a company in miami - but i am worried it will get a sh** kicking being shipped down here, what was the price? $450 / $500 ? or $950? we could use a new server here for a mysql database or our web server right we our web server is a pIII933 with 512pc133 and our mysql server is a dell pIII 733 - with room for another 733 -
turn your sever into a workstation
