installing Windows 98 after Windows XP
Mr.Guvernment replied to lwachters's topic in Customization & Tweaking
WHat do u need 98 for again? -
have you redownloaded quicktime? maybe from various sources? (cnet etc)
-
or just do a search on this forum. man, people need to use "search" engines on forums and web sites better.

Hey all well, was just curious, was reading the review of the new tyan board (tiger i7500 and such and was curious if any regular P4 mobo's exist or are in the making any time soon?
-
For the memory if there is a loss, i HIGHLY doubt it will be anything you notice. using 400mhz will allow for nice overclocking though if u want to go that way. the hit i think (if it exists) would be like million's of a second type of thing, or maybe a few fps. - nothing that would make u want to run out and return your 400mhz ddr.

Mr.Guvernment replied to Dazultra2000's topic in Software
Do u have a few stick of ram? pop one out , or move them around, see if that helps. i have ahd a few .sys start up errors - all were related to a bad mem stick. -
How to completely remove Internet Explorer 6 from XP system?
Mr.Guvernment replied to gisot's topic in Software
there is likely a way - but that is ALOT of reg files to find and delete! try using google and searching around? http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&i...ve+IE+6+from+Xp Most of this is for 98 users - but there is a program that helps remove IE 3 - 6 http://whatpc.co.uk/forums/thread.jsp?forum=6&thread=6551 -
Dual P4 mobo's - not Xeon - will they exist?
Mr.Guvernment replied to Mr.Guvernment's topic in Slack Space
I did not even see that part - makes complete sense perhaps just another marketing scam to get Intel way on top. -
Is your ram pc133, pc100??? ddr? How fast is your HD - could be it is trying to cache things but your HD or memory is bottlenecking. once in a while i have that issue after playing for a while (see VAIO specs) it is smooth, then it like jerks, or puases for like 2, 3 seconds, then goes on fine after that.

IE 6.01 slow to complete pages after updating to 1.5Mb cable
Mr.Guvernment replied to mthaler's topic in Everything New Technology
Quote: Ok, I have discovered that if I use Opera 6.05 instead of IE 6.01 sp1, the pages finish MUCH quicker. I don't think we are just looking at Opera's inherent speedier performance here. So, once again, is there something that might be sludging up IE6's performance. you might ask, well, why don't I just switch to Opera. Well it is tempting, but I don't want to give up ROBOFORM which only works in IE6 right now. I do a lot of shopping on the Internet and Robotform helps filling those forms very nicely. Once again, this just seemed to become a problem with the upgrade from DSL to Cablemodem. Thanks for any help Mozilla has a form filling out option as well.- i am pretty sure. -

Get nero. Fireburner runs in your memory - the crappy thing is when it crashes - it keep your burner thinking it is burning and u navbe to reboot to kill it or cntl +alt + del adn kill your aspi layer. Check out golden hawks web site to see if your burner is supported. Otherwise get nero - it burns bin/cues as well.

Cable IP's going into the 169.* range? or is something up..?
Mr.Guvernment posted a topic in Slack Space
IGNORE!!! ...lol - friend read off to me the internal NIC cards address...LOL not the one connected to the modem but incase u wanted to read what i posted!..lol Hey all recently i use remote access to get to my server back home - it is on Rogers cable and they usually use 24.* and i think now 69.* as ip ranges. Now, recently i discovered that they have change the Ip address to 169.* which belongs to: Code: Server used for this query: [ whois.arin.net ] OrgName: Internet Assigned Numbers Authority OrgID: IANA NetRange: 169.254.0.0 - 169.254.255.255 CIDR: 169.254.0.0/16 NetName: LINKLOCAL NetHandle: NET-169-254-0-0-1 Parent: NET-169-0-0-0-0 NetType: IANA Special Use NameServer: BLACKHOLE-1.IANA.ORG NameServer: BLACKHOLE-2.IANA.ORG Comment: Please see RFC 3330 for additional information. RegDate: 1998-01-27 Updated: 2002-10-14 OrgTechHandle: IANA-ARIN OrgTechName: Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Number OrgTechPhone: +1-310-823-9358 OrgTechEmail: res-ip@iana.org # ARIN Whois database, last updated 2002-11-21 19:05 # Enter ? for additional hints on searching ARIN's Whois database. NOw, this seems weird to me beause here in the Caribbean, where i have a Dial up account - about a week ago when i dialed out - i SWORE i was connected to a 169.* IP address as well (i was testing a forum and needed to know the ip address) Sp - is something up? is this 169. ip range a "spy" range that they put people onto for a while? Or what exactly is it and why would someone on cable be using that IP and someone on dial up be able to go through that IP range as well? To me it seems somethign is up and i almost do not want to connect to my server until this changes. (my dial up account has since gone back to it's regualr 208.* ip range) Any input??[/list:u] -

Get a new 48x burner and burn a cd in 2-3 mins, - i mean by the time the game even starts - the cd is done burning. Unless you got a 4x burner - it is almost pointless to play a game as every 5 mins u got to multi task out and do another burn. When i had alot to burn (some times 20g + a day) i would just chill and watch t.v while burning or chat on Im's and surf da web. But to each their own. maybe just build a cheap small pII 500 system for burning cd's? -

Norton AntiVirus Updates: Becoming a daily event!
Mr.Guvernment replied to mad2moons's topic in Security
Quote: For the purpose of this conversation, I would suggest not clumping "Hackers and virus authors/releasers" in the same category. Personally, I scour the net for hacking tools, and hack my own machines. Don't touch viruses. Very true sam as the people who think they are being hacked by a "hacker" when there firewall goes off. No, you likely are getting scanned by a "script kiddy" u got your: Virus Makers Hackers Script kiddies phreakers etc etc, and they ALL do diff, things. -

Quote: The comp will be used for Gaming mainly and i am ordering a MSI GF4 Ti4600 and a sony 21" monitor next week so i am a heavy gamer really! not many games support dual CPU's to my knowledge, you would be better getting a higher P4 chip, then dual AMD's. unless u do also plan to do some 3d design and CAD - dual cpu's won't give u that much gain in games. Quote: Iv heard some great things about Dual processor machines and toms hardwares benchmarks prove what they can do compared to single processor system Dont' beleive everything you read - especially from toms hardware! fromALL the reading i did about dual systems (as i was going to get one myself)- over all i think it was u get maybe a 20-33% increase in performance for apps that can actually USE dual cpu's set ups. If you gaming - i do not know of alot of games that will actually use dual CPU power ???? and DDR 266? AMD can now use DDR 400 can they not? -
Dual P4 mobo's - not Xeon - will they exist?
Mr.Guvernment replied to Mr.Guvernment's topic in Slack Space
Any reason why they did not make the SMP compatible or what have you? i figured since PIII had it that they would do it with P4's for those of us who don't want to pay for dual Xeons. -
