the prob has to do with your bios settings (especially the AGP 2X thing) If it is not yet at 2X set it to 2X If it already is set it to 4X , reinstall the driver and then flip it back to 2X This worked for me
-
I don't know if this is the prob but I heard that the included Voodoo drivers in XP suck bigtime. Have you tried other alternatives (like wickedGl ? )

stop the browser service or try to make this pc the most up to date one ( service packs and so)

looks to me like basic networking make sure that the ME pc is logged on with a username and matching password of a user that is KNOWN on the XP machine (same for 2K btw) so, make user you log on your Me with a user you can also log on on the XP machine with and chances are that you can access the shares. (except administrative shares, see other posts for this topic) Hope this helps you out

Does anyone know a way of changing the connection port for remote desktop ? Problem is that my isp has quite a few ports blocked , including this one.

works for me, can't think of what could be your prob

Did you upgrade or clean installed ? I clean installed RTM with 1GB Ram, Amd 1.33Ghz as well and it runs smoother then a baby's bottom. My guess Is that you installed some kind of kunky driver or proggy somewhere that is ****ing it all up. Try this (and I know it's a lot of work) -clean install (with format) -only install nvidia 12.41 drivers (for opengl support) -install the games (no tweaks or whatever) -try it If it doesn't stutter then, try installing the rest of your drivers and progs (occassionally checking the game for performance). If it does stutter, I'd take a decent look at your bios cause that aint normal. You can also try disabling acpi. It sometimes does funky **** on some mainboard configs. Hope this helps

Remote Desktop Access (Pc Anywhere) Alternatives for WinXP
fatattack replied to Netslayer2k1's topic in Software
dameware utilities is also very good, but not free i'm afraid the intresting thing about this proggy is that unlike pca, vnc, this one needs no host installed. You can connect remotely to any pc you like from your own without having to install something irst on that pc. You need to know the proper login details of course, it aint a hacking tool. -
Anyone Have the Problems playing Q2 RA2 under WinXP RTM?!?
fatattack replied to Elin's topic in Games
i had the same prob in HL using a logitech mouse. Turned out all I had to do was to install 12.41 detonator (nvidia) driver and switch the dame thing to opengl. Works perfect but directx 8.1 doesn't. Dunno for Quake though, I thought that used opengl as default ? -
thanks for the info, I'll try that out myself
-
thanks It works like a charm now
-
I've got the dame probs here. Does anyone know how I can force windows to make the drive mapping using logged on user instead of guest
-
i had the same prob in HL and HL mods. You are most likely using directx to play. Use Opengl, that's what solved my prob. Hope this helps you out, it bugged me too I wasn't able to play..

Does anyone know how to get VS 6 installed on an XP machine (RC2) I tried it and hung during setup. I know beta2 of VS.net works but for some compatibility issues I need VS6 installed so I could use a little help. If anyone successfully installed it, please let me know. Thanks in advance
-
i tried it under win2k twice and twice it ****ed up my system hard. ( video card driver totally gone and unable to function until I did a reinstall) Once I sort of got it working and I couldn't connect to a 9.x server. Maybe it was the less than flawless install :-) but it looked to me like this thing wasn't backwards compatible at all. So if it ****s your system up in 2k it's bound to **** it up in XP Anyone had any good XP with PCA 10 ??
-
thanks for the info i figured it would do some weird **** to the login as it had warned before i attempted an install
-
upgrading isn't that bad but clean install is always better it's just your own choice, reinstall all those apps again or just the os ? Your choice...

no the latest released build 2542 has already different keys, even between home and professional editions.

setting up triple boot Win2k, Winxp and Win98se:
fatattack replied to jimmytim903's topic in Software
yes the procedure is about right, it's a quick repair you need. That way your bootsector will be once again be replaced by a NT bootsector and show the bootmanager -
just go to control panel - add remove software - internet explorer 6 and remove it. That will restore your previous version of IE (5.5 or whatever you were running before)

I had this problem in earlier version of XP but as of RC1 I haven't experienced it though. Only thing I can think is that these movies are not divx but SMR (nAvi). This requires a different codec (smr patch) Both extentions are .avi so maybe that's the prob. If it doesn't help, try using third party soft to play your divx movies. I've had good experiences with Gdivx player. It works great under XP too. The current version is 1.90 and can be downloaded @ www.gdivx.com btw: This is also great on slower machines because it uses less memory and cpu power than Mediaplayer. Hope this helps you out.
