    Dual Boot / Win98 & 2K / 2 HDs, 2 vid cards?

While I'm at it, does the dual-boot Win2K system still allow the menu options (safe, normal, etc) from Win98? Do you boot to 98, then have the boot menu option via F8? Or is it combined in the boot loader? [This message has been edited by taniwha (edited 11 January 2001).]
  2. I bow to the wisdom of folks who probably have more answers than I could imagine. I have a Win98SE system. I've got a shiny new Geforce2 and an older Voodoo3 card. There will be times when I still want to switch back to the V3. Problem is, with all the hell of removing drivers and registry entries, I find I get much better performance if I re-install Win98 and re-install the card fresh. That's a pain. I was looking for a way that I could basically have a 2nd HD, with separate OS and drivers, and I could install the V3 drivers on HD#2. And keep the primary HD with the Geforce. With the software and drivers intact but separate, I could just switch the card out, boot from the other drive, the correct drivers (and ONLY the correct drivers - not the competing card drivers) would be there, and badabing. Someone suggested I do this with a 2nd HD with Win2k, and use its dual-boot functionality to be able to choose which one to boot to. Workable? Or is there an easier way? Something tells me not to trust the Win98 "hardware configuration" menu and all that rot. Hell, I don't even know how to get my hands dirty in that. I know enough to be dangerous, but don't want to totally hose things.
