I am having a weird problem. I am doing a fresh install of 2k on a p3 500 mhz computer from gateway. It goes as far as the initial setup wizard screens. After it finishes an saves the info it reboots. Then when windows pops up again it askes me to click next to start the network wizard. The only problem is that I cant click next or use my key board to click it either. I am just stuck at that screen. I have read some suggestions in the forums that say to disable plug and play and legacy usb support. I have done this but it still won't let me use the keyboard or the mouse. I looked in the recovery console to se if it had the corect drivers and it did. I thought that maybe my bios wasn't compatible with 2k so I got a hold of gateway and they said that the mother board supports 2k. So now I am at a dead end. I am thinking about solving this the easy way....throwing it out the window. But I thought that I would ask and see if something turned up.

Ok, I am having a weird problem with 2000. Everytime I come back to my computer after letting it sit for a couple of hours I find that I have the blue screen of death. The error that the screen gives me is 0x00000077 (0x000000e, 0xc000000e, 0x00000000, 0x00c2c000) Kernel_Stack_Inpage_Error All of this means jack too me because i can't decrypt the native Microsoftian dialect. The only other thing that I know about this problem is that just before it does it windows gives a message that tells me that NT is going to shut its self down in 60 seconds. Unfortunaly I have only seen this message once and didn't get to read much because it turned into the blue screen in about 5 seconds not 60. I haven't installed any new programs or hardware recently. I was hoping that someone could use the numbers? to figure out what the hell my machine is doing.

It also says that an error log has been created. This is Netscape 4.76 by the way. I also cant seem to find the error that windows said it made. Netscape wont even start up past the opening box. I have sat there and tried to open it maybe a hundred times now and it gives the same message. Hopefully it will "fix" its self.

I dont think that it is a problem with using regclean because this happenedd before I used it. And I oam on a T1 network, and IE doesn't do it. Just Netscape and sometimes but not very often opera. I would just go ahead and use IE but for one I don't like it (im not trying to start anything, I just perfer the others) and it is bothering me that this happens.

It seems as though Opera 5.11 is now doing the same thing. Please help.

I have a Thunderbird 1ghz with 384mb of pc 133 ram. I am having a problem with the performance of my ram. When I run the performance benchmark in SiSoft Sandra I get marks that look like this. Int ALU/RAM Bandwidth 374 MB/s Float FPU/RAM Bandwidth 398 MB/s The reference system that I'm using is an Athlon 1ghz KT133, w/256MB It posts numbers that look like this Int ALU/RAM Bandwidth 434 MB/s Float FPU/RAM Bandwidth 521 MB/s Now I really wouldn't have a problem with the difference in these numbers if hadn't noticed that my system wasn't running up to par. My page file size is set to 64mb. I think that this is the optimal setting because the peak under performance in the task manager comes close to the limit but doesn't exceed it. I have no idea of what else to do in order to get the memory running like it should. If any one can give me any suggestions on how I could increase the performance that would be great.

I am running WIn2k. I read that you want your page file to be as small as possible but not so small that your applications exceed the size. I did have it at 500mb, after I switched it to 64mb I noticed a dramatic increase in the performance. With the page file so low I guess that the system accesses the RAM sooner (I read this and I'm not to sure how it works.) Does anyone know the correct voltage for a Thunderbird 1ghz 200mhz fsb? I thought that I saw an article that said it should be 1.75. My voltage is 1.63 right now.

Check out ubid.com. I saw a GeForce2 Ultra go for $163. I would have snached it up bu it saw it too late.

I have a Soyo K7VTA (VIA Chipset) board running a Thundirbird 1ghz processor with 384mb of pc 133 ram on a win2k platform. My problem is that I am getting marks comparable to a PIII 600 in the memory benchmark section of SiSoft Sandra (I know that sandra isn't meant for 2000). I was wondering why this might be. I have been noticing that my computer doesn't seem to respond like a 1ghz should. I did have a problem with my hard drive (Western Digital Caviar? 30gb 7200rpm UATA 100) having slow access speeds. I found a sit e that told me how to fix this through the registry. It has bumped the transfer speed way up. I thought that was my problem but I'm still experiencing the general slowness. If anyone has any ideas please let me know. Thanks.

What kind of hard drive do you have? If you have a Western digital I can go find the web Address for you of that fix that I found. The hard drive problem was only with the VIA chisets.

I have the same card and all I had to do was hook up my tv via the s-video and then I turned the computer on. It automaticly recognized the out source.

Hey, I need to know how to up the power to my video card. I have been experiencing game flicker and flashing for about three weeks now. I have tried everything that my friend and I can thing of ie. drivers, updates, stuff like that. I originally had a hurculies geforce2 mx. I went to their web site and they recomended to turn up the power to the card using the i/o settings or something like that. Anyway I said f*ck it and bought a geforce2 gts 64mb ddr card. I thought that this card would do the trick. .....But nnnooooo. The problem still happens. I have tried the card out on my friends computer (intel platform, I have a athlon platform) and it does the same thing. He has a geforce 256 ddr card. It does not flicker or flash. I also tried my mx card on his system and it to does it. Any way I think that my problem is the power but I don't know how to up it.

His card, a geforce 256 ddr, ran fine in my comp. Both the gts and the mx did the same thing on mine as well as his. Has anyone dealt with leadtek's WinFox utility for their video cards. I just got a new geforce gts 64mb ddr card and I am trying to get WinFox to let me in to its hardware monitor but it wont let me. Any ideas?

I think that is what I am going to do but I just wanted to see if that was actually the problem.

I just switched over to 2000 and now my games are running very choppy and the computer even seems to be running slower. I have installed the update from windows, the bios updates, the new GeForce drivers, the AGP updates, and the via updates. I have no other idea of what to do. If I have missed something or if you know how to fix please let me know. I am about ready to throw this thing out the window.

I am experiencing game flicker in my games. I have tried all that I can think of. I think that I might be missing something in the bios since I just put in a 256mb chip. I have the directx8a drivers and the latest geforce2 drivers. I changed my aperature in the bios to 128. I cant think of anything else. If you have an Idea please let me know.

Windows 2K will dump my NIC for no apparent reason. I will turn on the comp and then it will be gone. When I restart it will show up again. And so on and so on. When I try to load the drivers from windows it says that it cant find them. Any suggestions. My NIC is a 3com 3c509tx if that helps.

It is hard to be specific because I dont really know what is going on. When I play unreal it gets REALLY choppy, it jumps all over the place. Every time I exit the game it gives me an error that says that unreal caused an error in win2k and that it will make an entry in the log. When I go to the log to find out what is wrong there is no entry for unreal all I get is, this..... The application, , generated an application error The error occurred on 01/17/2001 @ 17:43:32.300 The exception generated was c0000005 at address 106105B2 (<nosymbols> ) It says that it is an error that occured in DrWatson. My other problem is that the whole system is running slower than it should. I don't have any proof of this except that it just feels slower.

Thunderbird 1ghz soyo sy-k7vta w/updated drivers 128mb geforce mx w/updated drivers I am experiencing difficulties trying to get unreal tourny to run on my system. I have updated my bios, win2k, video card, and the drivers for the agp stuff. I still cant get the game to stop being choppy. It is running at about 55 fps. My system also seems to be running slower since i swiched to win 2k (from ME). If you could give any advice that would be great.
