ok, i 've got an amd althon 1 g and 256mb ram pc133. i am running win2k pro and used to run pretty well. however, now i found that sometimes the machine performs a bit slow than it used to, could be more program installed and stuff. what i want to know is. would adding more memory gives a better performance that can be notice? if i add i am most probably going to add another 256mb ram since they aren't expensive.

guys, i have a ibm 75gxp 45 gb harddisk. and i have decided to format 1 of the partion to NTFS, as well as wiping whole harddrive since there are some drivers problem and etc. for the partion, i am going to do with fdisk. where c drive and e drive would be about 8.5 gb formatted with FAT32, and having winme on c drive. e drive is used to store mp3s and stuff. and D drive, where will be the largest partion, will consist of about 25gb space. and will be formatted with NTFS system, since i primary uses only win2k pro, and rarly use winme. so i want to get the best out of it. now what allocation size should i format to? and how do i do it ? i am going to format the NTFS partion in the setup of win2k, and are there anyways to do it there? or what ways can i do it so that i can format my drive with a specific allocation size? thanks.

if i am u i would not upgrade to a new card, i actually think there aren't much wrong with your graphics card, so why need to cahnge? why not just wait a bit, and then save the money for later?

i do agree with u JMD, but however there are ppl that who wants to do what they want, we can't really do much about it. just try to mind your own business. ok i've recently just build a new computer, a althon 1ghz which is now @1.1. my last system was a celeron 466. and 1 point that i can argue with u is, about the 933 and 1gig. ok ppl can't tell the difference. but u can keep saying that to any processor. like WHO CAN TELL THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN 933 and 866???????? i doubt it, ok WHO CAN TELL THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN 866 and 833?? and WHO CAN TELL THE DIFFERENCE between 833 and 800?? heahe, u can just keep going and going..... and also, to some ppl 1gig and 933 actually does have a difference, maybe there are ppl who really needs the power, like dual 1gig. for applications which needs a lots of horse power...........

hi, i've am using win2k pro with my ibm 45g 75gxp harddisk. i currently have 3 partion, all fat 32, and they are c: 26375mb d: and e: 8784mb i am thinking of coverting to NTFS, do u think it is worth? ( i don't mind of formating) my system is currently dual boot with win2k and winme. i am rarly using winme, only if there is problems with winme. if i convert the win2k drive to NTFS, and have applications and things on the NTFS drive, is it likely to increase my performance? is it noticeable? and i just found out that the boot drive must be FAT for a dual boot, but doesn't matter thx

with win2k. there is a recommended setting for page size just change both the min and max value to that size. and will do the job

ok, the thing is my old system whihc have a celeron 466 and 192mb ram boots much faster than my amd 1ghz with 256mn ram and a faster harddrive, i beleive i might be caused by the netowrking of my ADSL PPPoe

ok, when u consider saying that u have win2k running 24hours a day, then fine, but it doesn't have anything to do with us, people are just asking support for faster boot time, whats wrong with that???? if u say u don't mind the boot time of 2 mins, i do, and i think many people do, when they have a very fast system, and like jdulmage said, people wants their computer to boots up as fast as possible. u say u don't boot your system for few months, but there might ppl who don't leave their system on hour, and uses win2k, and pls don't ask them to use win9x or shits like that becuase using win2k is for stability and SPEED, for my case, i personally thinks that win2k runs programs and stuff faster than winme, and games runs as fast as they do for my case(i am using geforce). so if ppl who don't mind to boot your system for 2 or 10 mins, fine, but don't say we whining just of that. because 2 mins seems to be lots of time to me for booting.

Guys, i recently bulit a new althon system, it is a 1ghz and with a kt133 motherboard(msi k7tpro2A) and 256mb PC133 ram, i have updated via 4in 1 drivers, under win me, everything is fine, but under win2k, everything are fine EXCEPT 1 thing, VERY SLOW booting time, just on the windows logo page, loading, it takes at least 2 mins, i don't know why, but before when i use win2k with my old system(a celeron 466 with 192mb ram) it takes much shorter time to boot than now, anyone can help? does it got anything to do with the VIA chipset? thx and also, i haven't been tweaking my windows at all.

ok, i've also been trying out for the ips method, trying to ues static ips, or even disable the network connection, but it doesn't help, so u ppl got any ideas? i am really sick of waiting there for 2 mins waiting it to boot, which doesn't happens with my much slower system

its got nothing to do with my sb live, someone said it is ip, and i think it could be the problem

ok, i've recently ugrade my system to a althon 1ghz with kt133 mainboard(msi k7tpro2A) and will use win2k as i have been use with my old system, because it is so much better compare to win 9x. so far i am still fixing the problems on slow booting time(should be alright since i saw the SB live slows the boot time and i do have 1, but not usre why this doesn't happen to me before) with winme my system is ROCKING, things are pretty stable and i am pretty happy with its performance and costs. but 1 problem i got is sometimes the mouse just stop responding and i have to reboot few times to get it work, but i think this is most likely to be software problems since i almost got the same hardware setup as my friends(same cpu, motherboard) and he does not has a problems at all, so i think going ahead and upgrade your system is fine!!! and it is not wrong time to upgrade your system, since amd cpu are now so cheap, but it depends on what u think

OHHHHHHHHH i do have a sb live!!!!!!!!!!! and where is that post to fix the problems? but also before my old system also has a sb live card and there weren't any problems
