When I play Rainbow6 Rogue Spear, after a while of playing, if I select load plans in the setup phase, my system completely reboots! But I have had a lot of other probs as well - Outlook slow as snail mail, Outlook Express taking forever to download messages, system slowing down and behaving erratic. IE5.5 taking forever to connect to a website, and even my pings in online games seem way slower and unstable. I wonder, has anyone tried to uninstall SP2 to revert back to SP1? Or is it a mess like trying to revert back to IE5.5 from that junk IE6?

But the GF2 is cheap now, and does near the same
-
Maybe, but you ain't seen nuthin till you see trees moving, fog, and dirt clods & dust kicking up all around you when you play Ghost Recon! And think - all the newer games coming out WILL be optimized for the newer cards, so you'll miss a lot. And a lot of the new ones even have the settings for the texture compression - looks lifelike now!
-
Errr guys, he said it was a TNT card, not a GF. That might also be part of the problem. Don't think even a newer DET driver will haelp with that. Its an old card that does not support many of the newer features in the GF, let alone the recent GF3. At least if you went out and got a GF2 you'd see a ton of improvemnt.

I guess when I updated Office 2000, and Outlook got the security patch, I can no longer view or open certain files, IE: my Father sent me an EXE file that was virus checked to be clean, but Outlook will not let me view it or open it as it is a "Type 1" security issue. How can I remove this to get back to normal?

THANKS BUG! The tip about using the 2 files (outllib.dll and outllibr.dll) from SR-1 WORKED!

I tried to install these last night, and in asks to uninstall the original ones. In the middle of the install, I get the dreaded BSOD with a STOP error. When I rebooted, the drivers were still there, but the blue speaker on the taskbar is gone, and the standard XP one is there. When I start up the SC console, it works, but the start in system tray is greyed out. And if I try to reinstall the original ones, it too gives a BSOD. I have not tried removing the card, and then doing the unistall yet, but I would think that you need not have to do that?????

I keep getting this every time I reboot. I keep sending the report int too. But when I go into event viewer, then to the MS Website to see what this error means, it always says "Sorry, can not answer this". Anyone have any idea what this could be? Yes, that is the one, by Lucent who bought them out. But don't know if you can find it anymore. If not, I can send you mine. It was FREE as long as you were not a company. But its a 1.9MEG EXE file. Drop me a mail if you do . . .

Notice though - he said he did the ROXIO patch. He MIGHT be using EZ at the same time, which probably could be causing conflicts. So far I have not had Nero give me a problem, I even use its DRIVESPEED appelate.
-
Guess I did not say things right. I uninstalled Black Ice to install Zone. So far it seems to work ok. Nero seems to be behaving, probably much better than EZ would. VitaAgentIT is a nifty little monitor I use to see what my iDSL speeds are up to. Sadly, I can not seem to find anything in XP (like the old NT or 98 monitors) to do the same. The one files, vcomm12.sys file that was giving problems to verifier was for the serial port part of Vital. I just renamed it, and verifier went past it. But, as I said, I get that memory out of bounds and possible driver synch error with verifier on, so I stopped using it and so far no problems yet (FINGERS CROSSED). But I DO think, that I got the verifier BSOD when Norton was starting to load, so suspect that big time!!!! But Norton is waaaaaay better than McACrap, and sadly is a neccessary evil! Already saved my *** from a few e-mails!

Nope, everything was already on my system when I installed XP. I had Win2K up and running without any of these problems with the GF3 and all, even the Live! card. But W2K was on my IBM ATA/100 drive, I shoved the old reliable Adaptec 2940UW and my 10K RPM WD91 SCSI drive in for the XP install, and put it there. So XP was done from scratch. Only NON MS drivers are the NV video ones, and the Norton, Black Ice, VitalAgentIT (the newer NetMedic bandwidth monitor), now Zone Alarm, and Nero software. I am using a GENUINE Intel D815EEA mobo (so NO VIA problems there) with a PIII 933, and 512 megs of PC133 Mushkin ram. Oh, the the GF3 is the Elsa Gladiac 920. Only other goodies I installed, are games - Ghost Recon, AvP2, Operation Flashpoint, Powertoys, Window Blinds (but removed it), GamesSpy, MS Plus! XP, and the Intel Applications Accelerator (the newer IDE drivers).
-
Well, since I ran verifier, and got renamed vscomm12.sys, fixed the CL joystick port driver, and removed Black Ice and went to Zone Alarm, I seem to have no problems at boot now! But I am still just waiting for the next IRQ_LESS_THAN . . . . . .
-
Ok, I tried VERIFIER, and got a few BSOD screens. First was the CL joystick port SYS driver. I seemed to get that taken care of. Next was a vscomm12.sys driver, which is a serial port driver for VitalSigns newer program like the old NetMedic that I use to measure my DSL throughput. Renamed that and went on some more. Now, it actually gets to the desktop, but I THINK when it goes to load Norton A/V, I get another BSOD that says something about going out of memory boundries, and possibly something to do with driver syncronizations. It had a STOP error code of 0X0000000CD Boy, ISN'T THIS FUN FOLKS?????? NOT!!!!!!!!! All I want to do after a full day of fixing other's computers at work, is to go home, turn mine on (WITHOUT ANY ERRORS!!!!!!!), and play some games or get on some paintball forums/newsgroups. But does MS allow me to do that? HELL NO! Oh I WISH that there was another OS that I could play the D3D games on! I'd dump MS in a flash!!!!!!!!!
-
Yes, I have both Norton, and the Santa Cruz. But am taking the SC out, sadly, cause I need the $$$ for gifts for Christmas, so am putting the damn Live! X-Gamer back in. So far, no IRQ blah blah blah yet, . . . . but I did just do one thing. I stopped Black Ice from loading at startup, and NO ERROR! Guess I have to go to Zone Alarm, but I hate that one cause of all the hassles it gives me in online games
-
Yes, I have the Elsa Galdiac 920. But I don't think it is that. Otherwise the video would not work at all. I think it still has to do with the damn soundcards. Only other thing could be Norton A/V????
-
I guess the best thing to do, is send it off to MicroSquash every time it happens (which is every boot now), and hope that we send them enough of these for them to FIX it, or at least tell us what it is . . . .
-
I too had the BSOD with these! So I tried the plain old XP update drivers, and no problems. But right now I have a Santa Cruz in the system, and no problems except one now - when I tried to try out the new BETA drivers, it asked to uninstall the old SC ones. In the middle of the uninstall, I got the dreaded BSOD! So for some reason now, I can not uninstall the SC drivers . . . . but I haven't tried doing that with the card removed yet - but I would think you would not need to????
-
Well, since I've put the Turtle Beach Santa Cruz card in my system, not a single BSOD yet! And looking at the event viewer, no problems detected there either. So its the damn SB Live! causing most everyone's woes!
-
Now that is funny . . . . under ME I could never get DID's F22 ADF to work, but in Win2K it did! Same with EF2000. Haven't tried them yet under XP, but if they worked in 2K, XP should be better. As for the shooters - you guys have GOT to try Ghost Recon!!!! Awesome game, fantastic graphics! Makes my palms sweat. But do NOT use the UBI.COM server software that comes with it - it gives GPF's left and right! Use GameSpy instead. I'll soo be loading AvP2 . . . . IF I dare. The original damn near gave me heart attacks when playing in the dark at night!
-
What I have found, so far, is that its the damn SB Live! card! If I try to use the new XP Live! drivers and Live!Ware, I get it all the time. But now that I uninstalled ALL the CL crap, and am using only the latest MS XP updated drivers, it seems to be stable right now. But I just went out and bought a Turttle Beach Santa Cruz card, and in a few . . . BYE BYE SB FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Now I am getting this error pretty much 5 or 6 times a day! It mainly happens when I use IE6, or Outlook Express, or when I try to play the Ghost Recon Demo online. All I need to do is click on IE6's buttons, or a button in Outlook Express, and BAM! BSOD! And I have all brand name hardware in it too. And its a genuine Intel D815EEA motherboard with the built-in Pro 100 nic card (also Intel). So it is not a VIA problem, not an AMD one either. But I DO have a CL Live! X-Gamer card . . . .
-
I went and bit the bullet, and bought a GForce 3 card - the Elsa Gladiac 920. Well, when I tried to install their drivers (wanted to see what their tool tabs looked like), it looked to have installed, but at the end I get an error saying "an error occurind during installation of the device - the data is invalid". And it says this for the "Video Controller (VGA compatible)". NOTHING seems to work, no matter what I try. Even the NV 12.81 install fails with the same error message. I tried going into safe mode, tried in VGA mode, everything - and still get the same error every time. In frustration, I went and put my Leadtech Winfast 2 GTS back in - and now THAT TOO gets the same error. Any ideas????
-
Well, never could figure out what was the problem. But the F1 to resume error does have something to do with the Maxtor drive, for when I stuck in the new IBM 80 GIG and removed the Maxtor, no problems. Well, I am now rebuilding the system . . . and I even went to full ATAPI, so if anyone wants some SCSI stuff . . .
-
Ok, the F1 to resume error MUST have something to do with my Maxtor 40 GIG drive! Cause I went and bought a 80 GIG IBM drive, and test installed a fresh Win2K on it - and without the Maxtor connected, I no longer get the F! error message from the BIOS. ALSO, . . . I WAS able to install the Gladiac with no problem, so it is not the card or the AGP slot. So . . . . either something in the registry is tweaked (and I TRIED to import in a couple of reg files from the good fresh install, but that didn't help either), Or some INF files are bad (but I also copied the ones the fresh install for the video card used, no help) Or there is some pointers to specific named INF files (not sure, and didn't look yet) that the INF files are now out of order due to my tweaking Or some SYS or DLL file is corrupt Just in case maybe its the hard drive doing this cuase of the "F1 to resume" error, I will try to ghost the image over to the new IBM and try it that way . . .
