I believe I saw it at http://www.tweakfiles.com

Oh, shut up...
-
I dont use any instant messaging, and dont really care to use it anyway...I dont see the point, plus Im out for a lot of the day between work and college, and then I waste my study time here...maybe THAT's why my grades suck.
-
You almost scared me there. I dont do a lot of e-mail, but think about some guy who's kids do tons of e-mail...one more way for the government to try to take away our hard earned $$$. Im really glad that never passed.

I cant answer all your problems, but I do know about the IRQs. Thats perfectly normal for that many devices to share a single IRQ, so dont sweat it out. All the work to change them isnt worth it. Creative seems to think since they practically own the sound card business, they can give crap support and get away with it. I dont what the deal is, but a lot of people have complained about their SB Live! cards having problems. All this is convincing me to stay away from creative sound cards.

Yup, that would suck, considering what you can have...

Well, we all have no life here...

Apparently, my logic was faulty on my case choice that I picked up today at computer show. I drilled some holes right where a fan inside my case is--dropped the temp a little. Funny, I thought a bigger case would be a bit cooler. Oh well, I'll just buy more fans then. Just a word of warning to all cosidering full tower cases. Hey, Pimpin, hows the computer coming along now?

Does anyone still remember the Macarena?

I know Ive seen something about this before, but how does the V3 work under XP? I know that it runs right off the bat w/o drivers until you do gaming, then you need drivers. Will the 1.04 drivers work?

OH, that 3dfx FAQ. I thought it was on the 3dfx website. Oops.

Well, the BSOD that I got was related to the UDFREADR.SYS. All I had to do was update it. Also, check to see if you have the latest bios. That can fix a lot of problems. I believe I switched IDE drives, and DVD drives before this.

Well, my dad's getting the Beta 2 sent to him, but he's gonna let me try it out after that. Any words of wisdom for this besides Good Luck?
-
Well, are you overclocking your video card? Thats the only thing I know of that would cause that problem--if your OCing too high.
-
I havent just because I cant find them, unfortunately.
-
BTW-by the way...
-
I was just being a moron right then. And Im not even stoned on anything. Just imagine how bad Id be if I was.
-
Well, now the L1 bridge pencil trick isnt critcal to overclocking. The only thing you need to worry about now is having PC133 ram. Ive heard that the A7V series and the KT7-line are the only ones to fool with if you want the real power. Not to say other boards are bad, but these lines are the pinnacle right now. Here's to overclocking. BTW, make sure youve got a good HSF to keep your investment from burning up this time.

I would go with Maxtor just because, so far, theyve run flawlessly, but I think the best thing is them being so quiet. For the hdd benchmarks, look around at http://www.pcworld.com for that article. I have the subscription. It was in the March 2001 issue, so you probably will be able to find it easily. Or you might see if you can still pick up the issue on stands.

Hey, Pimpin, got your new mobo picked out yet?

*snicker* *snicker* Wow, now I dont feel like such a nerd anymore after seening some code put up. Well, Id probably put some code up if I knew any other than d:\setup ;d=cdrom. Havent used dos since I switched to Win2k. BTW I know thats not real code anyway. IM interested in the hardware man. Sayanora, suckers!

I posted some stuff in the post about bad IBM hard drives but I'll give you some info of what I know. This info is just what I got off of a PC World mag issue. In the 5400 RPM hdd's the IBM's got smoked horribly by the Maxtor's and WD's although the WD's Protege drives had limited support. In the 7200RPM category, the Maxtors and IBM's were almost neck in neck with the IBM's a little faster by a few seconds, and that probably wont be noticeable. I would personally go for capacity over RPM. 7200 RPM is very nice, but from what I understand some apps/games in general dont really depend on the hard drive once the program is loaded, but on how much ram youve got. Ive never used an IBM drive before, so I cant recommend them. Both WD's and Maxtors are solid drives. Nothing against IBM, but they are a tad more expensive than I want to spend in comparison. Ive yet to see a WD drive go bad. Maxtor's partitioning utility is great cause it uses a GUI with a mouse. I understand that IBM is the pinnicle of hard drives the way people talk about them, but I wont recommend something I havent tried out yet. Ive noticed that the Maxtor drives are very, very quiet. It took me awhile to get used to not hearing my other hard drive a WD. Im not sure about heat, but I guess that the 7200-RPM drives would be hotter than the 5400-RPM drives, just because of speed.

Oh, okay. Ive heard that Mandrake isnt the best for gaming though. Is there another distro thats easy to install on a multiboot pc like Mandrake and runs as well? Ive heard of multiboot difficulties with Red Hat. I am looking at Suse distro, but whatever is easiest to get running as an alternative.
