Oh,boy. That board is the fourth one Ive heard of with problems, same board. This is the third time Ive seen that board here and its not good. My friend had one, couldnt use any new video cards on it cause of some AGP voltage issue. I hope Gigabyte doesnt make all their mobos like that.

Depending on the motherboard, you may have to flash the bios for it to work with a P3 that high, as that board would be 'old' in computer history.

Hey, PsychoSword, I may be clicking on it after all. There's this CPUCool program thats on startup and it appears the same time ZA does. I have to click okay to get the programmer's yap about supporting the program--which was almost enough to conivnce me to send money, almost. That would explain alot.

Id consider burnt boards a bad thing. Just out of curiosity, what was the board maker and the chipset?
-
Id really like to see the 760MP...dual T-Birds...ooh,ahh! Thats going to be a good step in the right direction.

Go for it. BTW, just installed DX8 on the ol Duron system. 3dMark2000 score:5135. That DX8 would explain why my dads sytem would get better scores than me before hand.

Also, it should be noted that if you have a decoder hardware or software (if the software wont run for some reason but still installs) Win2k and ME have a dvd player-not a decoder-in the Windows directory under System 32 in Win2k...cant remember ME's but its under the Windows directory.

Well, just try some different ones out. Go to http://www.the-ctrl-alt-del.com and look under drivers. They have an extensive list of Dets. including a lot of betas, and official nVidia releases. Try that out, and hopefully you'll find the right one for you. nVidia has very good drivers, unlike some Canadian video card company I know of...(no offense to Canadians).

Cool. I probably ought to bookmark that and remember it. A lot of people dont seem to know about it. Hope it works for ya.

You might be able to, but it depends on the board you got. Also major overclocks usually empower a good HSF that costs a lot. Go check out Toms Hardware Guide http://www.tomshardware.com and look for the Cpu Cooler Review. Some coolers cost as much as $70, and some of those are very loud.

Well, tell me how to get ahold of PowerDVD 3.0 then--for free. Or tell me where I can get a to make the trial a full version. Hehehe.

Well, basically D3 was unplayable because most of the background would be all one color, like black or orange if view at certain angles. Needless to say, there were some parts that I couldnt get at the right angle, so I was screwed. It couldve also been the Radeon I was testing too, who knows. I dont think its due to the latest Via 4-in-1 drivers though, cuz everything runs just fine. I guess it was one of those freak things.

Problem solved. I installed PowerDVD;however since I get this error message, I use the DVDPlay in Win2k as the player and the PowerDVD software as the decoder. I wouldve prefered to not use the DVDPlay, but at least it works with all the discs.

Okay, here are the only offending DVDs all of three from ADV Films: Neon Genesis Evangelion collections: 3&4, and Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040. I have other anime DVDs from ADV, and they run fine. Do I need to update my firmware or what. I dont think they're bad, cuz they worked on my Voodoo 4 and 3 with no problems.

As much as I like 3dfx cards, I have to say, get a different video card(s). The voodoos are a major bottleneck right there, and could be the source of your problems. See if someone will be kind enough to you to let you borrow a GeForce 2--at least an MX. The only thing you need from AMD is a registry patch for their Athlon and Duron processors under Win2k. That other stuff is for AMD CHIPSETS ONLY! (Look on AMD's site) As far as the IRQs are concerned, that's not the problem, so dont fool with them. I did, or attempted it, and ended up reinstalling everything. Win2k automatically assigns most things to one IRQ. Remove the AMD drivers, and just have the latest final Via 4-in-1 drivers installed. Also, get that AMD registry patch asap! Hope this helps.

The KT133A I know for sure puts the ALi Magik to shame. Im not well educated on AMD chipsets, so they could be good, or not. Plus, Id personally still stick with SDRAM just because, both DDR and RDRAM are much more expensive. And I dont have problems with Via.

Okay, my specs are below, heres my problem. Whenever I play a dvd, everythings okay, but if I put a cd in afterwords, BSOD with this stop message : 0x03E A thread tried to release a resource it did not own. Ive had this dvd situation before, but I had a Voodoo 4 at the time and it was a different stop message. I did get a solution for this, but the message was different. This is a clean install. Would up[censored] my bios do anything with the GF2 MX. Im currently at BIOS revision 1004. ------------------ Whaazzzupppppppppp! Maybe I should cut and paste...Im kinda lazy anyway.

Need help - This one is driving me mad

Is this the only thing that's being affected by the CD-ROM? Have you cleaned the cd lens with one of those cd lens cleaner cd's? Try the cleaning and run some other programs off the cd. If those dont work, the drive is probably going out. Also, check the options for downloading automatically, and make sure autoplay is enabled for the drive. Check to make sure the IDE cable is plugged in at both ends and is in good shape. -
VMware is okay, but it requires some hefty resources to run well, so you'll probably have to increase the ram a bit.

So, where's everyone from. Im pretty sure not all of us live in the US like me. You dont have to give the city or address. Country and state at most.

XP seems to be what ME never was even close to being. Jdulmage mentioned something about MS cancelling ME. Unfortunately, they dropped that idea. ME should never have come out in the first place. Ive heard of some feature that allows you to import all your files, programs, settings, etc. to XP from another computer. That would be great, especially for IT guys; what a major time saver. Id really like to test out XP now. The boot time speed seems a good improvement, considering how long it takes too boot into Windows on the Promise100 controller on the Asus A7V. But I really hope that the MovieMaker will be optional, System Restore wont be a space hog, and Media Player will have good sound. XP should be much better right off since its based on the NT code and not on the 9x one.
