Yeah, you can run 3 drives in RAID 0. As for distributors in the UK, I dunno, as I live in the US.
-
I've never had any luck copying a drive to a new one and Win2k be happy. Haven't tried it under XP, but I assume you'd run into the same issue.

IE is free and it works damn well. Then again, that could be a result of that pact with Satan...err, Billy G.

ATA133 has been shown to amount to jack in a performance increase. It's there, but the current ATA drives just can't saturate it. Honestly, you can get away with ATA66 cables and not know a thing. Even in RAID (assuming you're doing the smart thing and having each drive on it's own channel) you still won't fill up the available bandwith.

WTF My brand new Maxtor 80 gig 7200rpm is showing only 75gig

Once I finally moved all partition to NTFS, I have not once had chkdsk come up because of some error due to improper shutdown, etc. Only when I have done routine maitanence has it ever come up. Y'know what: I can't tell any difference in speed between NTFS and FAT32. I'm not dual-booting, so I have absolutely no need to use FAT32. -
ROTFLMAO!!!!

I'd check the Abit section of AMDMB for that stuff. They'd have the best answers there.

I tend to keep finding out how much I don't know. But then I take lots of drugs and am okay:D

From what I understand the PR rating is not comparing the XP to the P4, but to the Athlon Thunderbird. Unfortunately, AMD has obviously not done a good job on letting out that information---so I've heard. I may not use strictly Intel setups, but I can't really dispute the fact that they have a leg up on almost everyone else in the chipset arena. As clutch has said regarding the i820 and the MTH: when Intel realized there was a problem, they remedied it at a major cost. AMD has shipped the 760MPX with faulty USB, yet you don't see them or any other company producing these boards doing a recall. Let's look at what companies products are being asked about how to fix this or that: it ain't Intel. I'm not saying that everyone who doesn't use Intel is gonna have problems, but Intel is a major player for a reason: their stuff works 99.99999999 percent of the time.

I find it rather fun to Force Push someone off the side:D

Well, I just ordered an Epox board, but I've been using others too.
-
I didn't put SuperMicro or Tyan (although I shoulda put Tyan now that I think about it) because I wasn't thinking about the server segment these two are generally better known for.

so what are you listening to at teh moment?

I went to a John Tesh concert---the real Tesh-head I am. (and no, I did not make up any of that) -
Depending on where I end up working will determine whether or not I do AMD at all at work. If I was like you with being the only AMD tech, I'd get pretty sick and tired too. Right now, I see AMD as more of a hobbyist solution--nothing wrong with that for me or a home user. However, for business give that Intel does have their act together in all area's, especially the server arena (no AMD for me there yet), is the reason right now why I wouldn't use a non-Intel solution in the workplace. Given time, and I do see AMD going there, I believe that AMD will become a stronger force outside the enthusiasts market. I think Via has gotten better, although not enough for a serious solution.
-
I've said this before, but, I've been using Via-based boards without a hitch and will continue to as I have no reason currently to have to use anything else. The whole irony here is that the only chipset that has ever given me trouble has been the 440BX. The 815 is great though (save that little 512MB RAM limit) from what I've seen. I'm not anti-Intel by a long shot, but like everyone else, I use what works best for me.

Well, I thought I had the disk around here, but I can't find it. I'll have to keep lookin, cuz I could've sworn I had it around here somewhere.

My guess is that they're more sensative to that stuff than the other games. Try running Unreal Tournament if you can, or even the demo.
-
That's fine, clutch. Going from experience, I put Asus, but I've been trying other companies to see what else is good.
-
Oh, and I'd like to add that the only times I've had lockups or crashes is due to some software or too high of overclocking under Win2k or XP.

My very limited experience with Linux (several different versions of Mandrake): after installing the OS and toying around trying to get all the hardware to work, I was like "Now what do I do with this?" Linux may have it's uses, but I'd like to get even deeper with Windows first before I try digging into a totally new platform. Yes, Windows has issues, but MS does a fine job of letting people know and putting up a fix. Also consider that more bugs and such are gonna be pointed out with windows as most PC's (90 odd %) use one version or another of it. If you're some no-good hacker or virus programmer, let's think of which platform is likely to hurt the most people. It ain't Linux. It's Windows. Why is Windows #1? Because it's a good product and you don't have to search to find apps for it. Windows has been very stable for me, even Win9x (save ME, grrrrr) was pretty good to me. It was uniform, unlike Linux with the zillion distros available. Once you have a good idea about the install procedure with the 9x or NT kernel and the functions of each, it's not a real sweat. Linux is too much work to learn right now for me personally. I'd like to, but I have other things I'd much rather do instead.

Well, I just ordered the Epox 8K3A+ from Newegg as the dealers around town to stock any Epox boards.
-
Just the application itself, the .exe generally. It's not a guaranteed thing. Might wanna check the compatibility list here if you haven't already. If that's done, check the gaming section of the forums (XP specific)

Oops. I wanted to make this poll with multiple options...could someone please change that?

I've heard a song or two by ministry and didn't care for them, but that was a while ago. I've got about everything but country here. Examples: I have a John Tesh Live At Red Rocks CD, and have seen him in concert. I also own Slipknot's Iowa CD, early Creed stuff, No Doubt, Cypress Hill, Kittie, Fuel, Natalie Imbruglia, Lucsious Jackson, Offspring, Marcy Playground. Sometimes I need some good vent music, but other times, I pull out some mellower stuff. My bro's laugh at my variety of tastes, but eh, who cares? I listen to just about everything, and if I listen to an artist long enough, I usually end up liking them. Okay, I'll stop now.
