Everybody have a good one. (And try not to get too drunk;))

"If it ain't broke, don't fix it." Unless you're having problems, I would just say to leave you're current ones the way they are.

Maitrix, do you really know if SHS is an idiot? He may be hard to understand, but he's no idiot. I'm not informed on the driver situation here, but I'm kinda suspicious as to the hacked drivers. This is a high-profile site, and I don't think SHS would be doing this on purpose. And that's if they are hacked. If they are a real legal problem, I'm sure SHS will take them down.

Hmmm. Very intresting.

I don't see a problem with the speakers, and the Audigy has given me no trouble under XP.

How Can i Make EVERYONE Happy??
Brian Frank replied to Space Cowboy's topic in Customization & Tweaking
Some stuff may endup being accessible to everyone. I would not recommend them all logging on as admininstrator because everything is at the hands of anybody that logs on. Create a separate account with only certain priveleges probably best to just create a power user account and have everybody log on as that. Do this especially if your kids are young. Little kids can screw things up, as well as anyone that doesn't know what they are doing. I don't log in as admin and wouldn't recommend you allowing people to do so either. -
Sounds like we may have the same hard drive, pimpin.

Well, I got my new board today. The Aopen AK77 Pro. Right now I'm installing XP on it. I had to pick up an IDE controller card so I can keep myself pampered. SIIG ATA100 controller card with the CMD IDE controller. Fine, I thought it would be promise, but after my luck with them, I'm kinda relieved that it's not Promise.

Are you using the PS/2 or USB? If it's the USB, try the PS/2 port. I'm not sure if this has any bearing on it, but the Abit VP6 (dual Via Apollo Pro 133A) had problems with a USB keyboard. I'm not sure if this would affect mice, but I wouldn't rule it out. I don't think it's the problem, honestly.

Use the aplication compatibility app.

It's because EA refuses to support anything it's done for the 9x only line. EA has decided to be *******s about it, and there's not a whole lot you can do about it either.

Ahh...systernals. I recently hit the site up for their goodies. Very nice stuff.
-
It is possible with DDR SDRAM and SDR SDRAM, but that's only on a few mobo's.
-
Had any problems installing XP on the HPT372 controllers?
-
Yeah, as the 3dlabs cards are the only ones I know of that have that much ram on them, but for the price of 3 grand. Waaaaaaaaaay more than I'd be willing to shell out for a single component.
-
Yup. If ATA drives can get up to 10k rpm, we could see a transfer rate above this, but I'm not positive.
-
I like my 60GXP's in RAID 0.
-
I may have RMA'd drives that weren't bad, but I didn't know my mobo was going bad.

1 x 256 , 2 x 128 , 4 x 64 , 2 x 64 + 128 ??? (RAM)
Brian Frank replied to reversing_drive's topic in Customization & Tweaking
Use the 256. That way you have more room for SDRAM. Oh, and I belive the apollo pro 133A can only use 4 banks if it's PC100. At least on my VP6 it does. -
ME is marketing bullsh1t. It's like a bad, beta version of 98 with prettier GUI, and only slightly. Avoid it like the plague. ME is worthless as an OS, and good only as an expensive coaster.

Hey, next time, try to post in the proper section.
-
That's nuts! Tho not nearly as inane and insane as the Aopen GF2MX with 128MB.
-
Well I might as well post the specs to my AMD rig once I get all the parts: Corona-12 Abit KG7-RAID (waiting) Athlon XP 1600+ (waiting) 256MB Samsung PC2100 DDR Maxtor 40GB ATA100 5400RPM GF2Ti SB Audigy Gamer D-Link DF3 538TX+ Vantec CCK-6035D (waiting) Antec 400 W PSU (waiting) WinXP Pro I should be able to get the mobo next week and have it up and running. I can get the other stuff later, but I need the mobo for this to fly.

Without giving it away, I will say that the ring wraiths and the balrog are freaky enough to nearly wet your pants. Very good adaption of the book, and the stuff that they ditched was stuff that I didn't miss anyway.
