I didn't miss Tom Bombadill. The Uruk-hai are cool too.

Bump. I won't let this thread die!!!!

Uhh, it's undergoing a motherboard transplant--soon as I get a new mobo. The A7V is going down unfortunately, and that makes two bad boards this year, the first being my MSI 694D Pro. I sold one book and had enough to get a 256MB stick of PC2100 DDR. I'm most likely gonna get the KG7-RAID next week or when I get some dinero from a buddy of mine. I was planning on this anyway, but I'd kinda wanted my A7V to last a little longer:(

Ooo! You like Monty Python too?! Yay! Now you got me on a trip.

Tweak Town's forums. The name I signed up under could be a girl name, and the avatar used is of a chick of the same name. I have been updated to 'transvestite' tho. ;( Sorry, might've been the alcohol talkin last nite. Computer hell yesterday...where's my margarita dammit!

Unreal Tournament, Serious Sam, Deus Ex, Half-Life (and that whole universe), Unreal...games that you shoot most anything that moves.

It should without a problem.

It's pretty pricy, even for MSI. I'll probably pass out when I see the price tag for Asus A7N266 mobo. Anand did a preliminary test of the Nforce platform awhile back with the on-board video. [H]ardOCP did a review not to long ago, but didn't test the on-board video. I think it's gonna be the chipset that OEM's will fall in love with. The mobo is expensive in relation to others, but when you consider the integrated stuff sets the bar for on-board video and sound, you realize this is gonna rock. Of course, if you want Nforce for gaming, you could always buy an X-Box;)

I've disabled auto-play, because it's annoying to me. The Auto-Insert being disabled makes a lot of sense.

Thanks for the tip.

Finals week for me. 1 down, 3 to go. I'll be glad when this semester is over too. Just in time for christmas;)

Well, I'm now on the staff of TechWareNet. Just launched Sunday, Dec 16. Open invite to drop by. If you've been to Franknet, you'll probably recognize a few articles over at TWN, and that's because we're copying articles of mine over for some more reads.

While I've gone to XP, 2k was a much more mature OS. XP has some minor annoyances that MS needs to realize we want optional or that are just annoying bugs--like having to eject a CD for it to recognize the next one. And I mean right-clicking on the drive, and hitting eject from the menu type eject. Very annoying, and a bug.

Nope. Don't plan to either Unless I get a company to send me free PC hardware, I probably won't. I'm curious about it myself, but the P4's are a tad expensive for my tastes.

I don't get this one. I install it, then after the reboot, my rig never seems to finish it's startup in Windows. I can't do anything in normal mode, and I can't uninstall it from within safemode. The Imperial Star Destroyer is in trouble here. The only way out I see is with a reinstall or XP, which I'd rather avoid. It's working great under my other rigj, Samurai Pro, but it's a pain in the neck on my other system.

Hmm. Well, I do have a Promise controller, but my hard drives I had in there were going bad--and that explains quite a bit as far as what I've been experiencing.

Try a switch instead of a hub. -
As much as I do like AMD, right now I wouldn't trust them in a critcal server. Your data makes the machine, not the parts--as they just sit there without anything. I'm not anti-AMD by any means, but Intel has been doing the server scene longer than AMD has. By this, I believe Intel should have stability to a T. Extra speed is worthless if you compromise your data. I would overclock a critcal machine, or any work machine, the same time hell froze over.

AlecStaar and everyone, I have poor hd performance in XP Pro

I also found the source of my troubles: my hard drives went kaput--explains quite a bit actually. -
Ahh, yes. WinRG, what a yuk!

Anybody have any recommendations for these add-ons?

I smell war3z. Damien, unless yer a Cyber-Link rep, it would be to your benefit to edit your post. -
You may be able to disable ECC in BIOS. Otherwise, hold yer money and save for the ECC/Registered stuff.

I'm eyeing the KG7-RAID or KR7A-RAID for my next upgrade, and probably the latter, so I can review something new. (ouch, my wallet)

I'd get me the LiveWare! drivers off Creative's site ASAP.
