Got a screen saver running? If so, disable that and see if it does your bidding.
-
Try running it with the App Compatability program, in the start menu/ programs/ accessories.

And don't forget, their are RAID variants of these babies! I'd also suggest going DDR also. I thought the BE6 sucked, but I'm far more impressed with my VP6. At this point the KG7 is a strong contender. I think Abit is overrated, but I'll wait and see if I get another Abit or not, as I've got some other boards in mind. Also, does it have to be Abit. Epox and MSI mobo's cost less and are solid overall. I prefer Asus, but they're getting more expensive all the time, so I may get Abit after all.

I know I'm not a lover of everything MS does, but the article on the main page is disturbing. Microsoft is being attacked, leaving no stone unturned, by people that feel Gates and Co are screwing everyone. I'm sorry, but 2 wrongs don't make a right here, folks. MS has every damn right to keep their source code under wraps to anybody it wants to. It's called business, and there is nothing illegal about it. The last thing we need is a Linux-ish Windows with who-knows-how-many variations (in the extreme case). The whole case against MS, in my opinion, is because people are pissed off that Microsoft is successful and they are not. Hello!! What the hell happed to something called "competition" Wether MS abides by this is a different storey, but so far I have yet to see anything that makes me desperately want to ditch Windows and IE. The closest things, respectively, are Mac OS X and Netscape (blech!). It's pathetic that today's society is a bunch of babies that abide by this: "If ya can't beat 'em, sue the hell outta 'em!"

Adios. Hopefully, people won't come to bad-mouth you there.

Hmmm. I checked that and it's grayed out, but the "Optimized settings on both drives are checked. Hmmmmmmmm. -
Problems on T-bird system after fresh format and install of
Brian Frank replied to pr-man's topic in Hardware
Hmmm. Try using a lens cleaning CD, and set the CPU back to the default speed. Also, check the system logs to see if you notice anything suspicious. -

Discaching Disabled a couple of times in the system log. That explains a lot. Now where do I enable them... Nice tool, clutch, thanx. It's a keeper. -
Check here at the bottom of the page. I found it in MS Knowledgebase:D Yippie!

Having trouble with NetBEUI? Here's the fix!!!
Brian Frank replied to Brian Frank's topic in Networking
Work?! What's that? You're moking me, APK, and that makes me angry. And when Dr. Evil gets angry, people DIE!! -
Change to a different driver then. As for the hinting about IRQ's being the problem, I don't think so. I'm 99% sure that the IRQ's have nothing to do with it. There will probably be a number of devices on one IRQ, but that isn't normally a problem, except in the case of the infamous BSLive!

Also, don't forget about the Radeon 8500. These baby's can be had for $200 USD with shipping. They are OEM, with the 250/250 core/ram, but mine can get up to the normal 275/275. Want something to compete with the GF3Ti500, only for less? Here ya go. The only really annoying thing about it is the refresh rate is stuck at 60Hz under XP. Then again, it's not like Nvidia got that fixed immediately... The Ti200 is sorta cheap, but for the value line, it could come down in price a tad.

Ah, yes the infamous 75GXP. I hope that doesn't happen to my 60GXP's tho

The most reliable drivers for me were the 10.80's. I'm running 23.11, but I've got 21.81 as a backup.

Especially that ME!

IRQ problem with firewire video capture on K7VZA MB
Brian Frank replied to billm's topic in Hardware
Not sure, but my guess is that's it's driver related. An IRQ conflict, most likely not. Yes, you will see a ton of devices on one IRQ, but that is NOT a problem 99% sure. -

For $5 I've gotten a full-blow legal copy of XP. I love student discounts.
-
Well, something was fu><ored in 2k and I couldn't repair it At that point, what the hell, I guess I'll go to XP on this rig too. My copy doesn't have WPA...hehehehe. If worst comes to worst I can always buy a few more copies...hehehehe.

Having trouble with NetBEUI? Here's the fix!!!
Brian Frank replied to Brian Frank's topic in Networking
Well, you'll love this development then: The day after I get NetBEUI working, guess what? My dad decides to go to IPX/SPX ;( Arrrgh! TCP/IP is still in, but man that pisses me off a little bit. 1 freakin' day. Ahhh, that sucked. -
Haven't had that problem to my knowledge, but then again I don't seem to get that sorta problems either, and I've run 4 Via boards too!

XP-What do you think of it now?
Brian Frank replied to Speed4Ever's topic in Customization & Tweaking
I think once SP1 comes out it should be even better. As for now it's still got some quirks to it. One I noticed and don't remember it in the beta 2 or RC1 is XP keeps thinking you have a disc in that you don't and haven't for a while. It's annoying as you have to right click on that drive so you can hit open. So far so good tho. I'll end up moving my other rig to it in a while. -
Can anyone with a T-bird @ 1.33mhz and a AIW Radeon 32 mg DD
Brian Frank replied to pr-man's topic in Hardware
Well, my Radeon 8500 gets 5300's easily with default settings in 3DMark 2001. This is low, I realize, but an 800MHz CPU is certainly not straining this baby.
