I'm not using a resevoir, and am using a T fitting to provide a way to add water. I'm currently just using a single CPU waterblock in the system. -

Going to the dark side of cooling. Ordered a Swiftech MCW5000A waterblock, Hydor L20 pump, 20ft (better safe than sorry) of 3/8" ID/1/2" OD Tygon tubing, and currently have a car heater core for my radiator. I need to pick up a T fitting here as well. -
I don't really remember installing SP1. I do have SP1a, but that's only because I needed it to get the USB 2.0 on one system working.

I got the Philips Dynamic Edge last week. -
Agreed. The Celeron is so slow in comparison with the P4's that they're just not a good value anymore. The Celeron had it's heyday, but that's long past.

The A7N8X series is based on the nForce 2 chipset.

If you're gonna buy a separate controller card, it might be wise to not buy the NF7-S, and get just the NF7, unless you're gonna make use of the SATA controller or you'll be wasting your money. Memory: Corsair is good stuff from what I hear; however, if you're not going to overclock, it's best to go with something a little cheper. If you get a Barton with the 400MHz FSB, make sure to get some PC3200 to go with it. If you want to build most of the system now and then grab the video card you want when D3 actually hits, that'd be pretty good. Power Supplys: I personally like Sparkle. Not the first name people mention, but they are high quality PSU's along the lines of Antec and Enermax. Optical drives: I've personally had good luck running Toshiba DVD drives. I've still got my 6x DVD drive from 2-3 years ago running fine.

My ship came in this year (fed tax check), so I picked up the Gigabyte GA-7VAXP Ultra. DAMN! this mofo is loaded. They didn't give a kitchen sink tho I'm gonna have like a video card in there and that's it. Must...study...Win2k Server Exam....Arrrgh! Anyway...I'm gonna have some fun. As for ATi, I used to be adamently against them, but they've cleaned up their act. They may have some rough edges with the drivers, but they aren't noticable to me anyway. -
I took Tae Kwon Do for 7 years. Came out with a 1st Dan black belt.

Due to a nice little trade with my dad, I got a brand new 60GB 7200RPM hard drive. Nice swap for an older 20GB 5400RPM drive. -
I'm trying to setup KaZaA to run under XP with Task Schedualer. Since I don't have a password for my account (I'm the only one using this PC anyway) I had to setup a separate account for the thing to run. It does "run"---as in it shows up in task manager, but the program will not actually start, and the memory usage is zero. Why I want to do this? Well, I work 3rds, and would like to run the program from midnight to 6am since people gripe when they don't have a nice internet connection or can't get their e-mail quickly at home. Anyone tried this and gotten it to work?

99 Cavalier Z24 isdefinitely cooler than my previous rides.

The sweetest mobo coming out is Gigabyte GA-8KNXP Ultra. PATA RAID, SATA RAID, and dual-channel Ultra 320. This is based on the i875P chipset with ICH5R (for SATA RAID). Me want....badly. Damn the car payments!

I guess this is the closest I'll be getting to any PC part (had to buy a new car), but I've been working on lighting my PC up with some neon's made for cars. Not that hard, but the little PCB that I took out of one needs to be covered, so I got a project box, among other things at Radio Shack. -
Yeah, that is bad news.

Did I mention this before? If not, take a peek... awesome!

Quote: holy crap is that right $160USD for 360gb?? Nope. It's 36GB. I read the article and it was 36GB. That's the size I heard originally anyway. Some day, 360GB will be at $160, but not right now. I wish though. -
XP or 2K- Ok now which to you like?
Brian Frank replied to CyberGenX's topic in Everything New Technology
Well, I haven't used the exact options you have...I've used Win2k SP1/SP2 and Win XP RC1&2 and final. I think XP is a little nicer, but really nothing drastic over 2k. I wouldn't want to run anything older than 2k or any 9x OS...at least after having to run that damned ME and having to deal with 98 at school (I really do not like 9x anymore). -
http://www.sis.com/ SiS website of course. On the other hand, if things are working correctly, you don't necessarily need/should get a different driver.

Is WinXp gaming performance THAT much better than Win2k?
Brian Frank replied to pr-man's topic in Everything New Technology
Personally, I did notice a difference with a system that ran XP and 2k, and XP was noticable faster. Not that much faster, but it was a little smoother. That's just me, it may differ from one person to the next. This was mostly noticeable in UT with an ol Voodoo 3 3000 AGP on a P3 800 box (in some cases there were 2 CPU's---which I couldn't tell a diff with gaming). I'd run the XP beta's, XP final and Win2k SP1 and SP2. UT was noticable probably because I was addicted to that (okay, I still am) and played it the most. I'd almost try it on my file server since it used to be my main box, but it's been so long ago that I used it regularly with Win2k that I don't think I'd be able to tell a difference anymore. Also, I had the CPU overclocked at the time, and it's not now---and it won't be so long as it's any type of server status.
