Here are some things to try, as I have the same board so Ive had my share of problems getting it too run. 1--set the cpu back to 800, 2--set the cas timings back to 3, 3--if youre installing with the IBM hooked up to the Promise ATA100 controllers, make sure you have the latest drivers downloaded and put them on a floppy with ALL the contents from the zip file. Also, have you tried resetting the bios to the defaults. Ive found Win2k is much happier if you just leave the bios pretty much alone on this board.

Ha! I build my own pc's for myself. Is it just me, or does it seem that MS has a sick demand for a deathwish? XP activation crap and that whole deal, lack of SP2 final version for Win2k, and now this? WTF is MS doing? Besides working on world domination...

Did you try to get the attention of Phillip or SHS via e-mail? Im not saying it would work, but they might be able to fix your problem.

Here's something odd Ive come up against in XP beta build 2462. Under an NTFS filesystem, the standard Windows defrag runs fine but then when it's finished it tells me that I may not have enough free space. The partiton that its on has over 5 GB on it with just XP installed. If I run Diskkeeper from inside Win2k on the XP partition I get the same error. The XP partition does get defragged somewhat but it doesnt seem to be able to complete the thing totally.

You can go back to your old bios only by flashing it with the old bios. And that's providing you either saved it, or Sony has a download for it off their website. If you had an incomplete bios flash, you probably would be having some major issues along the lines of not being able to boot up.

New processors, what do I need to do ??

You suck! -
If MS insists on playing hardball, I will actively use cracks on all products I have legally purchased. There is NO reason why there should be a limit on the number of installs. Plus for those of us, including myself who own more than one pc, we'll have to end up buying a copy of MS products for each one. Im sorry, but this is bullsh!t. If MS continues this line of crap, Linux may get the last laugh after all.

Uhh...XP is still in BETA FORM RIGHT NOW STUPID!!! So there will be more problems with it than when it gets released.

Quote: Yes thats the way to get help, call every faggots. Uhh...hey, russellwild, I dont think too many people do what your doing...so dont call me or anyone else here a faggot. Best solution is to buy a 3rd party program to do the video editing, mainly because MM is pretty limited and there's the Microsoft proprietary format. I just suggested taking MM from XP---IF YOU HAD IT, DUMBASS!!!!!!!!! Sorry we dont know every single possible scenario about computers...

The filesystem shouldnt have anything to do with it at all. FAT32 or NTFS should work out fine. Do you have the latest drivers and patches for your system?
-
My understanding was he and his pal were promoting an XP product and a ton of people were getting PO'd. Then it kinda boiled over in "I dont mean to piss everyone off..." thread and it got closed before things really got ugly.

Well, if you have the beta of XP you could try to move the Movie Maker over into Win2k, since the code for those two are much closer than the one for ME.

Need latest Det driver for my Geforece 2 for Win2k

For speediest performance, Ive found the 10.80 Dets work great. -
I would recommend leaving the ACPI setting on if you dont have problems. Playing around with that has given me hell in several different configs, so I leave it be. If your smart you'll leave ACPI be...Win2k has full support for it, and MS, this may come as a surprise, does know what they're doing.

Have you gone to Netscape 5?

Abit BP6, and hpt366 ata66, with ibm 60GXP problems
Brian Frank replied to Turbo Grunkamoj's topic in Hardware
I tried to install it with ACPI enabled, but I got a BSOD, so I had to disable it. -
Ive heard regclean can cause problems if it deletes reg entries that actually are still used. Try reinstalling Netscape or Opera. You should stay away from programs that delete stuff from your registry. I have one program,RegCompact, that does anything directly with the registry, but all it does is defrag and compact it, but does not remove anything.

Depends what OS your using and what you gonna use the system for. Im only gonna use Win2k so, if you have enough ram a decently fast cpu is good--like 400MHz Pentium II or Celeron is fine, ram is much more important than speed for Win2k. 64MB of ram is not too good for Win2k if your gonna do anything more than surf the net. Anyway, Im gonna cycle out some of the parts because my dad may want some of them eventually. I got an old PPGA Celeron 400 and probably am gonna get at least to 600MHz with an OC. Im probably gonna get just an 8MB AGP card so I can run 3dmark 2000. Here's a little tip: Win2k can make boot floppies, so if you have those made up you will still be able to install and repair Win2k if the cd-rom doesnt allow you to boot off it. I just cant remember how you do it... My P3 system just doesnt have the right board to OC it, so I stopped using the Slocket adapter and just put it in the socket. Oh well, the Trinity 400 runs just fine otherwise...

I have the Abit BE6 and I had an issue with a BSOD that happened only with ACPI enabled. You may just have to turn it off. Try that before the bios flash. -
Im not too familiar with the P4, but as far as I know the only chipset out there for it is the i850. The boards to look at for the best are the Abit TH7 and the Asus PT4. Yeah, you will pay for the name, but you will also get good boards too. You do know your gonna have to say yes, to the question: "You want RDRAM with that?" I refuse to support any product that has to do with Rambus, if possible, plus the fact that RDRAM has a much higher cost than either DDR or SDR SDRAM. I would personally look at an AMD based solution, because not only are they cheaper, the 1.3 GHz T-Birds are on par with the P4 1.7GHz! 8) I would also wait and see about the AMD 760MP chipset---can you say 'dual Athlons'? Nothing wrong with Intel, but AMD has the speed and performance that isnt as pricey. I would definitely look at the Athlon too, because it is a cheaper and just as powerful alternative to the P4. I dont know if your aware of this, but supposedly the next P4 will have a different pin lay out. If you could hold out until later this year when the new 478 pin P4 comes out, you might have a better chance of upgradablility down the road. Im not all up to date on all of the P4, but I have seen enough to caution watching out for possible dead ends in the cpu map.

SCSI would be nice, except I cant afford that type of equipment. Hell, I cant really afford my computers now, hehe. -
Go ahead and try the compatability app. If it dont work, tell your bro to buy a console.
-
Ive been warned not to do that, mainly because the brush will scratch up the writing lens, and you figure out the rest. Id try using some duster first to do stuff. But hardware does up and die all of a sudden too...Have you tried the Yamaha on a different computer?
-
Been there done that. Ususally the best solution for your pc is to leave it if things are working well for you. For the A7V, make sure you have the 1007 bios--that fixes a ton of problems. One problem it was supposed to fix was an IRQ conflict between the Promise controller and PCI slot 2. If you have anything in slot 2, try to put it elsewhere.

Okay, I got an Abit BE6 mobo in the cheapo bin for $25 and so far its run well (Im installing Win2k Pro on it right now), and Im just wondering in general about having a little server for hosting LAN games here. Basically it would just be a HL frag fest, and having a dedicated server would give everyone latency. Im gonna grab some more ram ASAP, and Im just gonna host matches with this rig. I know this isnt much but I dont need a killer server here anyway. Heres the specs right now: Abit BE6 Pentium II 400 64MB PC100 Fujitsu 5.2GB ATA33 5400RPM Fujitsu 4x CD-ROM 1.44 floppy Matrox 2MB PCI video ISA network card I got everything but the board lying around the house, and Id just like any help I can to get this running smoothly. Once again, I will be upping the ram as soon as possible (like tomorrow)
