What is your opinion, people?Hmmmm!!
-
Hmm, that seems to be a mixed bag, as it has the potential for abuse as revenge. On the other hand it might give a clue to who the ideal people to talk to are. However, its not really necessary to function here on this board, so if it goes up again, I wont care, and if it stays down, I still wont care.

Here's a good smackdown post on a fool who got a flame going, other than jdulmage: http://www.ntcompatible.com/vb/showthread.php&threadid=7729 I figured we're all in such a happy mood, I'll probably put this up, for those that remember and dont want too. Hehe :p:p:p:p:p:D

New processors, what do I need to do ??
Brian Frank replied to lager_brains's topic in Customization & Tweaking
Hmm, Im not sure, just because Intel has a multiplier lock so you cant overclock that way. I have a P3 socket 370 that will only run at the speced mutliplier regardless of what jumpers I set it at. It will probably run at 1GHz, but Im really not sure. -

You should be okay swapping out the cpus. Unlike the motherboard, Windows in general will not throw a fit if you dont do a reformat. CPU's and RAM: you can put em in w/o a problem, unless they're bad. Ummm... I'll try my best to put down how to take out the slot cpu's. USE CARE WHEN TAKING THEM OUT! There is a notch on each edge of the cpu cartridge, so usually tipping it up on one side and clearing the retention post first and then taking out the other side should be right. If you can see some pix of it, that should help a ton. Just make sure to unplug the fan header before you take out the cpu's. -
Overall whats the best CPU of the listed? Consider stuff like price, overclockability, reliability, of course your own opinions count too, not just stuff listed above.

What do you think is the best alternative to Windows?
Brian Frank replied to Brian Frank's topic in Software
Hmm, you seem to be alone on the mac, zirik. I was rather shocked at the support for BeOS, didnt know it had that much support. I was expecting like one vote for it. This has definitely been an interesting poll so far. -
I believe that the T-Birds run at least on 1.7 volts. I have noticed though that the voltage may fluctuate a little. If your motherboard has jumpers or bios options to change the voltage give it a bump up to 1.7~1.75 volts. As long as you've got good cooling, you should be okay. Of course, if you're running fine, no crashes/lockups, you're probably okay. On the other hand, a .05 voltage bump shouldnt hurt a thing.

I wouldnt have noticed the grammar. English never was my strong subject. It was funny how he was talking the lawsuit crap for the defamation against him. HE should be the one in trouble for defamation, not the other people. XP is in the future, but that doesnt mean we must embrace it. Im waiting to get my beta 2 copy, and try it out, but Win2k works great for me. Plus, a lot of people are beginning to find out that Win2k runs well for gaming too. It looks like that XPLite was a good tweaker, so you could take out crap you didnt want without having to play around in the evil zone we all know as the registry. Lets also remember that there are other's here that do flame too, so Jdul may be gone, but I dont see the flames going with him. I only read the e-mail philipp posted, but you make it sound like there's more stuff jdul sent. If so, I could use a good laugh. Jdul, spectacle and poster boy of flaming posts, is gone. Even if he does come back, he'll want to make sure to mask his ID real well, and stay low key. Providing he fools the admins... Now Im beginning to see a lot more people come out and say what they think of Jdul...bad legacy here. Bad mojo...

Well, we dont all have to like it. Ive never played Quake or Doom before, so Serious Sam is the craziest game Ive played yet. The amount of enemies on that in just first few levels is like facing off on some of the end levels of Half Life. Ive gone through it 3 times already, and love it. Its just a personal preference. You're opinion is at least what you dont like about the game. There was a disgruntled individual that didnt like it and blamed the programmers as being lazy. That was a controversial thing, and thats all the more I'll say, for fear of starting or being flamed.

Did you move the case around when that happens? I had a case with my Intel BX board that would usually dislodge the AGP card slightly, due to the fact that the board and the case didnt quite square up. If this is the main issue, you could try a different case. Thats the only thing I could think of.

Someone help me out here. Okay, my main system is having problems recording audio and other stuff onto CD-Rs but doesnt hiccup at all when recording to CD-RWs. Regardless of being audio or data cd's, it still puts out a buffer underrun problem, and gives me another coaster. My secondary system is recording flawlessly on CD-Rs so far. My first system specs: Duron 800@1GHz, Asus a7v bios 1007, 384MB PC133, toshiba 12x dvd, samsung 48x cd, maxtor 5400rpm hdd 20.4gb ata100. 2nd system: P3 667@700MHz, Tyan Trinity 400, 320MB PC133/100@100MHz, Western digital 17.2 gb ata 66 5400rpm, wd 2.5gb ata 33 4500rpm (where I record my songs from), toshiba 6x dvd. The first system uses only Win2k, the second dual boots between Win2k and ME, but the recording is only done under Win2k. Software is Adaptec Easy CD Creator 4.02, and Adaptec Direct CD 3.01c. Ive tested different cd-rs and regardless of what Ive used, 80min/700mb or 74min/650mb, it still does the buffer underrun. Ive used Sony and Fujifilm CD-Rs and it doest work on my main system. I know it worked before. Ive disabled the Anitvirus scanner and other apps, but it still does it on the main system. As Im putting this out, my P3 is pumping out a CD-R of Incubus right now on the sony cd-r. Any help, because it records onto cd-rws just fine.
-
Okay, the stupid thing will record cd-r's at 2x but not at 4x. And last time I recorded rw's, they burned at 4x. Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrggghhhhh!!!!!! What have I done to anger the tech gods?!!!!???! I tried Nero, but still the same damn thing happened! Well, so far this is the worst thing that's happened to me. I'll just wait until Win2k screws up royally somehow and I have to reformat it for the fix. I may try reinstalling the Via 4-in-1's to see if that does anything. I dont have anything to lose anyway.

There are tons of good action games, but I put down some games I figured were hot and relatively recent. I also considered a few old timers for retro 3d gaming. There is also a limit of 10 options for polls, so you dont have more choices than on Jepordy. Sorry, Im more into the FPS w/o much thinking involved, except for HL, which actually is the most brain intesive game I have, or was, since Ive gone through it a zillion times, so you already know whats where and when. I shouldve put other for all the extras I didnt think about. Unfortunately, I cant edit the poll, cuz Im not an admin.

That legal crap was too much, I agree. However, it may be jdul's bad luck or him being a total @ss that seems to always start the flames. He is knowledgeable, but it appears he pushed the limit too far. Y'know, I read through this topic a while ago, and it looks like jdul was booted out once before. Ive also noticed that just about any post that he took part in had some flames in them, not necessarily from him, mind you, but it certainly seemed that way. It appears the most prolific flamer is outta here! He seemed just a tad overzealous about WinXP, and would rail on the poor soul who said anything about it being bad. I do recall being in a little flame war with him once. That little post he put up about trying to be professional seems to have fallen through, especially considering he was one of the biggest offenders of it all. Someone did tell Jdul,"...you do mean to piss everyone off." I would say that was right on the nose. Lets all remember that Windows is just another frickin piece of software! Too bad Jdul wasnt told that. There's my "eulogy." LOL

Does everything work alright? If so, I wouldnt worry about it. Its just one program, and I believe that it does not have full support for Win2k. That's probably why you're readings are off. Just a guess though.

This could be bad news, depending on your view. The man who started this forum, Jdulmage, has been offically banned.

Yup, that is confusing, I get the jist of what you're saying, but thats it. You dont have to explain it all, btw. Im by no means a computer god, but I do think that Win9x has terrible networking--especially ME. 98 has worked pretty good, sometimes. Win2k rules in networking. It was a breeze the first time I set it up to test it out, and later I dumped ME just for all the hassle I had. I really think that MS has done a very good job with Win2k. Yeah, there are problems, but I have had a very good time with it, until something gets out of whack, then most of the time the best fix is a reinstall. XP can improve over 9x in the fact that the networking will be much better if Win2k is any indication. I would never, ever tell any company to use 9x right now, but if they must, 98 is the way to go, simply because ME is terrible about networking. Win2k is rock solid as far as what OS's Ive used, and is great once you get used to it. Now I'll go away for now.

Didnt think about SMP at all. I did think about the P2, but that is "old" as far as cpu's go, but not ancient. I dont think I have the means to go about changing the poll, since im not an admin, like philipp and shs.

I saw my old Duron 600 died. Now its gonna be my little trophy, the first cpu I overclocked. It didnt die from overclocking, but from a cracked die. On the other hand, Ive gotten some good hsf that dont crush the die like the cooler masters (they are pretty good coolers) but my chrome orb ripoff and my Global Win Fop 32 dont have that problem, due to good clips. The Duron 600 now resides on the front of my case.

I dont know all the banned words here yet, but here's the edited list of the ones I do know: @ss b1tch sh1t f*ck b@stard s3x war3z Any other banned ones that Im missing?
-
No problem. Hahaha. It just seems like I know all the banned words, and then I put something down that Im sure is okay, and it gets banned. W A R E Z! Yeah!

Hey, I'd seen a link for something to make the Win2k defragger go automatically or on a schedual. Anybody know the link for this? Thanx!
-
Ahh, much better. Thanx.

***** (war3z) *** (s3x) yup those last two are, but I have no idea why. Probably, just a safety feature. Plus, this board is a respectable one, so cracks for software are a no-no. And what were those two totally bleeped out ones (just replace a vowel with something else: number, character)?
