The only thing i have against IE 5.5 is that i have to do an online download of it everytime if format i would like all the setupfiles on my machine. like with the network version of the servicepack. So until someone tells me if it's possible to download the complete IE5.5 package, then i'll use it.

You can get the drivers on abit's ftp: ftp://ftp.abit.com.tw/pub/beta/ You're right, rev 1.2 comes with hpt370 chip (man i wish i had that one instead of my rev 1.0 )

It's true, there is a problem with htp366 and udma100 HD's. I had the same prob with my maxtor but highpoint has fixed this issue in their 1.28 beta drivers. You should try em, there is a fix for the ibm's too. I've been using these drivers for 1 week now and no errors yet.

Deleting the gimme.dll never helped here. I lowered the page file to 320, that did the trick.

Try booting without that ISA network card plugged in

I think you can just format your c:, install win98. Then boot your comp from the win2k cd-rom and choose the repair option. I think it will put your system files back on c: and make a boot-menu. But let somebody else confirm that before trying it as i'm not completely sure it works. I never tried it myself.

I have to agree with dosfreak. Only install win2k on your machine. I don't see the point of dual-booting 2 NT-based OSes.

I'm wondering if there is some tool that puts the icons on the taskbar in a menu, like in winxp, when many windows of the same program are open... Anyone knows if that exists?

I think that's a known problem with creative geforces. Your fan needs some oil. If i'm not mistaken i read it a long time ago on www.geforcefaq.com

On my be6-2 rev 1 i had the same prob. Make sure you set the "standard BIOS settings" to auto for all you ide devices. then choose the boot other, exp: cdrom, hdd, floppy and then check if there is a setting "boot other device". i don't know why, but when i put that setting to "OFF" it follows my chosen boot sequence and boots fine from the cdrom. If i put it on "on" it jumps immediately to the hardrive. I hope this was of any help.

Here's the situation: I'm running win2k professional with sygate home network on the server pc to share my pppoe dsl connection. On the client pc i have a win98/win2k dual boot. I don't use dhcp, i gave both computers their own ip, configured the gateway and dns server the right way. In win98 the internet connection works fine. But in win2k after the boot, when i try to run IE it says it cannot find the internet connection, it gives me 2 options: "try again" and "work offline". When i click try again internet works fine. Why can't IE find internet the first time but the first time it works fine? Another thing, other programs (icq, msn messenger,...) find the connection right the first time, just IE that doesn't work right. Can anyone help me with this? When i install IE6 beta i don't get that message anymore, really weird.

I got the same problem here. Had it since psp 7.00, then tried 7.01 and 7.02. They all have this problem. I used to have psp 6.0 and it worked fine on the same config and also in win2k, but i of course have changed detonator drivers since then... my system: p3 800EB@852 abit be6-2 256 MB RAM PC133 hercules geforce ddr (detonators 11.01) sblive value win2k I never thought it could be a detonator problem. but it seems it is. on my parent's computer psp 7 works fine. config: Celeron 600@750 Sis 8 MB videocard 320 MB RAM PC100 Guillemot fortissimo win2k

www.carricksolutions.com What program are you using to dial to your isp? You should give Raspppoe a try, some folks say it gives faster speeds. I didn't notice any difference here, except that now i'm actually ABLE to connect to my isp, with their default crappy program i just couldn't, the bastards (btw their program was enternet)

Abit BP6, and hpt366 ata66, with ibm 60GXP problems
rgodart replied to Turbo Grunkamoj's topic in Hardware
Were you still able to boot into win2k after turning ACPI off? Cuz mine didn't like that. I read everywhere you have to reinstall win2k if you want to run it without ACPI. -
Abit BP6, and hpt366 ata66, with ibm 60GXP problems
rgodart replied to Turbo Grunkamoj's topic in Hardware
I had the very same problem with my abit be6-2 with hpt366 controller on a maxtor udma100 hd. What i did was go to the ftp site of abit and download the latest bios for my motherboard which has the latest beta highpoint bios (version 1.28), and i used the beta drivers 1.28. Since then it has been working fine (has been for a week and i hope it'll continue running fine). Here's where you can get the RU bios for your card with the 1.28 hpt366 beta bios: ftp://ftp.abit.com.tw/pub/beta/bp6/ You have a "bios" and a "driver" dir, so you download the 1.28 bios and the 1.28 driver. I hope this will help. If it doesn't try running the 1.23 drivers. I read somewhere they worked better for some people. Good luck. -

I got no delay here ya know (P3 800EB 256 MB RAM) -
i would like to make a file run as a service. This file is devldr32.exe ( from the sblive drivers). I know there is a tool called liveservice around to do that, but it just doesn't work on the latest WDM drivers. So i'd like to know if i can add it manually, cuz everytime i shut down windows devldr gets shut down way sooner and i get a very loud sound out the speakers. This volulme issue was fixed when using liveservice. Thanx

I have a hp 8200i and it works great in win2k professional. I don't see why it wouldn't work in adv server then. Go check: http://kickme.to/spookysrealm there is a section tips&tweaks and it has some tips how to configure windows to use cd-writers. Give it a try, it might help. Cuz i think your 8200 is supported by win2k adv server.

Damned creative. I don't have a dual-system but the drivers still suck. i get cracks while playing mp3's. But that's not enough to make me dump win2k. I'd rather buy a soundcard from another brand than leaving win2k.

About your resource problem, i'm sorry i can't help you on this one. But i had the same problem. After some time surfing they drop to 1% and i have to reboot. I had that problem in win98se too. That's one of the reasons why i use win2k now. I still have Me tho on the same computer cuz i never got my games to work well in win2k.

You won't have to buy a new harddrive for that You'll just have to reformat it. What they meant is, once you convert to ntfs, you can't go back to fat without reformatting (and so losing all you data).

i don't like DHCP . I configured everything manually. but give me the hardware config of your network and i'll see if i can help you. I can't promise you anything cuz i'm only a rookie too in networking. How are your computers connected which each other? How many computers do you have in the network? (3 if i'm not mistaken?). So you must be using a hub?

Sharing my ADSL line with other computers with one nic?
rgodart replied to Silent-IQ's topic in Networking
It works with a hub an some routing software: wingate, winroute, sygate, avirt,... i don't know how things have to be plugged in tho, cuz i only have a 2 computer network, with 2 nics in the server and a cross-over coupler on the cable. -
I have tried lots of sharing programs before i could find one that works perfectly. I'm using sygate home network. YOu can get a trial version at www.sygate.com and get a keygenerator at www.astalavista.box.sk The programs i tried on my ADSL (PPPoE): Wingate: never worked, client wouldn't see the server computer Winroute: worked for a few days, then lost the connection, i reinstalled it, it worked again for a few days, then lost the connection again, really weird Avirt gateway suite: Worked perfect. But as it shares through a proxy server "ping" is impossible on the clients (same as with wingate). Sygate: uses NAT to share the connection, has been working great for 2 months now, i love it. you're using win2k on the server right? cuz i ran into a lot of probs with windows 98, Me, whatever version of 9X (windows wouldn't shutdown anymore, random crashes when 2 network cards were installed) Since use win2k on the server everything works great. The clients can use whatever os you want.

Well Mike i'm running a genuine intel P3 800 on a 440bx mobo. And i got the prob
