a friend of mine has 2 harddrives both plugged on a ATA100 controller on a msi motherboard. In windows 2000 and xp only the first 30 gig drive is showed, not the 10 gig one. The only thing we found to make it visible was going to computer management and make it a dinamic disk. Is that the right way to do it??? I guess not, cuz he has to format the drive when he does that, and now he has backups on it so a format is out of the question. Can anyone help??? Thanks.

That's interesting. Before that he had another mobo of msi, and he had the same problem, but that was in win2k. One drive is IBM the other is quantum i think. The ibm has it's jumper configured for master, the other for slave, so i guess that's right.

Version 2002 (year 2002) IS build 2600. You have the final builld of xp already.

You can't receive mail notifications anymore with messenger 4.6 unless you download an addin on the new crappy addin site!!!!!!!! WTF is this all about???!!! This messenger is getting worse and more bloated every release!! AND WHY DOES THIS PIECE OF CRAP KEEP LOADING WHEN I DON'T EVEN SAVE MY PASSWORD??!!!! (sorry this thing really makes me go crazy)

PROBLEM SOLVED!! I uninstalled messenger completely and outlook express loads fine now.

Thanks, i did what APK suggested, exactly what i needed. Only problem is there is no such option in outlook express, so i'm stuck with a 30 seconds delay (no biggie, i'll have to live with that). There was the option "do not logon to messenger at startup" (or something like that), but unchecking it didn't help + that option dissapeared the moment i disabled msn messenger in gpedit.msc.

I knew my question would sound weird I accidentaly pressed winkey + q once and a window popped up with my username on it. When i pressed it a second time the next username appeared, but it did nothing else than browsing through the usernamens cuz the users wh ocan connect to my computer don't have the right to logon locally. So in fact it only seemd to be able to browse through the usernames and that's why i wondered what its use was

I guess i'll have to do that too. The problem when i disable messenger is that outlook express loads slow as hell... Any fix for that???

I configured outlook express not to load msn messenger but it keeps doing it, and when i try to close messenger it says it's being used by another application...

Thanks a lot for replying, but i'm using MSN messenger from time to time, so i can't uninstall it. I would just like it to run when i want to, and not when OE6 wants it to... Someties i just don't have time to chat with my contacts... and with OE loading msn i'm kinda forced too. I wish XP wasn't so bloated...great OS but lots of useless stuff in there (built-in cd burning that doesn't work, msn loading everytime, buggy error-reporting). Kinda makes me wanna go back to win2k.

I had the same problem. Run the game in windows 98 compatibility mode or install SP2, this will fix the problem.

My computer crashed (BSOD) during the game "ghost recon", rebooted and gave me the message "the system has recovered from a serious error" (which is normal after a BSOD). But since then it keeps giving this error at every reboot, altho it didn't crash... Is this a bug??? Is there something to do about it? A friend of mine has the same problem after his computer crashed in wolfenstein. His computer keeps giving this error, and when he closes that windows he gets another error, and sometimes even 3... Can anyone help???

Well, i did some research on the net and it seems other people have this problem as well. A guy at a Dell helpdesk keeps gettings calls about that issue. I got around the problem by disabling the "error reporting service".

Basically i want to install the tryout version of a program, i installed it for a day, then deleted it, but i would like to reinstall it now. It refuses to install now and it says: "you can only install this tryout one time". I still have 14 days of tryout time left... Is it a key in the registry?

I have a geforce 3 ti200 and i love it too. I'm using it on a p3 800 and i get 4600 on 3dmark 2001. I overclocked it to geforce 3 speeds and got 5000 3dmarks.

After playing ghost recon for half an hour it crashes with a BSOD "IRQ_LESS_OR_NOT_EQUAL anyone else experiencing this problem? My system: p3 800eb abit be6-2 512 MB RAM elsa geforce 3 ti200 hercules fortissimo 2 maxtor hd 30GB

it seems it is an EAX issue, i read that on the ghost recon forums. When i disable EAX in the game itself it works fine.

I have a 2-computer network, both running windows xp professional. For now i'm sharing the adsl connection with sygate home network. But i'm unable to send files with yahoo, msn messenger or mIRC. I'm also unable to run game-servers on the client pc (it may be possible buy doing some port mapping, but that doesn't allways work). My questions are: 1. When using a hardware router, does all the above work? 2. If yes, do i still have to configure that router for port mapping or does it all work out of the box? Basically i just would like the router to act as i was directly connected to the internet, all working without having to configure ports. 3. What brand would you recommand. In my computershop they sell 2 cheap models: D-Link DI-701, D-Link DI-804 Are those any good? Thanks

Here's the thing. When i install autocad 2002 and i take a look in the add/remove program window, all the programs coming after autocad are placed waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay below the autocad entry. I mean there's a gap of 20 cm's. I found a key in the registry to be the cause. When i delete that key everything is fine. My question is: is it possible to make a reg file that will delete this key when i double click on it? So after a format i don't have to go into HKLM --> software --> microsoft --> windows --> currentversion --> uninstall (or something like that) just to remove that key. Same here, works great on my xp. I don't know what they mean with the autoprotect issues, i never had any troubles with it.

I would recommend nero, indeed the interface is a little hard in the beginning, but you get used to it pretty quick. I used to have easy cd creator back in the 98 days, but since i upgraded to 2k and now xp i allways used nero.

I tried the programs OEbackup 3.0 from genie-soft, and express assist. But after a format they were unable to restore my mails Is there any other, reliable, way to backup mails??? Thanks.
