Quote: I cant play nba live 2001 too on WinXP pro 2600!!! What i must do to fix that? Questionnaire how u did that?? Answer- I'll quote myself: Quote: No man, just installed the game and played. Quote: Questionnaire: can u please email me your nba live 2001 exe Sorry guys and gals, but I just tried uploading to a geocities and then a tripod account for both of you to download but im on a 56k and the file is a little over 4Mb and I keep getting a time out error. Sorry I have no further info... I just installed and played. But this weekend I hope to pick up a few more of those EA, no Win2k support games to test out and see if I get the same results I get with NBA Live 2001.

No man, just installed the game and played. I did notice however on the box it said win2k wasnt supported so I was prepared in advance for problems in WinXP but to my amazement, not one single problem with the game. Btw, im not using the detonator xp drivers (didnt like em'), so I reverted back the 12.90's on a Visiontek GF3 and with I think but not for sure, the VIA 4in1 version 4.32. (Dont expect to get it running in XP just because I did, im a oddball you see, I can even make Windows ME run flawlessy unlike the mass population who rant endlessly its the worst OS ever. )

Wow! As I browse through the forum and see all the problems people are having with XP im in utter confusion. Every single game in my game collection work prime in XP. Using a SBLive Value with the defualt drivers XP installs, not one single problem in UT.

I have no problem with NBA Live 2001 in WinXP.

Quote: I don't think that XP's firewall would block (or at least notify me about) some transmissions going on between my pc and some ms servers.. 100% correct. And one very good reason not to use it as your "only" firewall. (Is the word privacy even still in the dictionary? hehe) Anyway, in beta 2 clicking the "search" button would trigger communication to www.sa.windows.com. (Yes, just searching for files on your HD) Connecting to the internet the few first times in 2475 would trigger communication to www.time.microsoft.com. There is of course a few others, but i'll just leave it at those two examples. Other then that, ive tested the built in firewall at shields-up and it blocked all communication attempts to my cumputer. BTW, ive been having very good results using AtGuard Version 3.22. Hope this clears up some confusion!

Questionnaire wants to know where dodgeviperrt10 got "2781" at? Yea... I'm stuck on an "outdated" build of XP, "2481". Anyway, I havent yet installed NFS5 or do I think i'll have the time on a sunday night. Have you tried the new 12.60 dets? Oooppss.. You forgot to post your systems specs so I dont know what VGA you're running. I 'might' install the games tonight and give it a whack but dont hold your breath. If you have a nvidia chipset you can snag all the latest beta drivers here. Goodluck!

Quote: Hopefully it comes out soon to us 'unofficial' beta testers. Downloading 2481 right now.

Ive upgraded to XP from WinMe 6 times now. ;(

Finaly got 2475 up and running. Seems heaps faster then 2462. I dont have much time on it, but so far so good. I'm definetly buying it when it comes out. (I consider it a good upgrade from my former OS, WinMe)

I'm downloading 2475 now:D Hope my scanner is finaly fixed in this one or i'm gonna e-mail the manufacture of it and put the SMACK down. Run 56k modem, run! lol

Paying for XP online - Anyone have problems?
Questionnaire replied to wwwTHEVIDEOGEEKcom@ntc's topic in Hardware
I had the same exact problem and i'm in the US. Cant remember what I did to finaly get it to except my info. But is was something soooo stupid. Damn.... I'm, trying hard to remember what I did to fix it!! Mabye check a bill statment from your credit card and tripple-check the address again and make sure it's exactly what's in your credit card agency's database. Keep trying! Mine finaly went through!! BTW, I paid the extra $10.00 to have the CD shipped to me! Do I still have the option to d/l it incase the CD's get sent late or something?? Anybody? -
Quote: Check your bank account(s), thats why. When i gotta pay Quote: Check your bank account(s), thats why. When i gotta pay $1.79+ USD for a gallon of gasoline and $300 USD for an OS just so i can fu*kin play Quake, the money in my pocket dries up pretty quick. Between the two "butt-f*ck" kings....Mr. Gates and Mr. Bush, i dunno who's worse. .79+ USD for a gallon of gasoline and 0 USD for an OS just so i can fu*kin play Quake, the money in my pocket dries up pretty quick. Also, is it just me or didnt it seem like we where all riding high with Clinton in office?

Quote: Microsoft is going to wanna cover thier ***.. So to speak.. Like I said in my previous post, most game developers have small 1-2 man teams that get cracks, analyze them, and then add fixes to the latest patch that defeats them. Hhhhhmmmmm... Anyone notice that the latest patches for Quake III Arena and Unreal Tournament take out the CD checks? And my only complaint about activation is "What If". What if you dont have a internet connection avail where you live? What if you're doing a clean install and your wife forgot to pay the phone bill on time as usual? hehe. What, walk down the street to seven eleven's pay phone to activate your system? LOL Pass the crack stem m8. (Far fetched situations, but still possible) Oh and dont confuse me for a person that's into the warez scene because ive been downloading the Beta's like mad. Simply put- If I have the chance to grab a sneak-peek at the new big OS before the general population, you better beleive i'm gonna jump all over it. No harm intended since ive already paid for the preview program (RC1 & 2). Other then that, I have no problem with activation since i'll be going to the local PC software store to get the final retail. (If I decide to stick with XP) Oh and I hope swaping out a Intel mobo to try a AMD setup wont make me have to re-activate all the time. I usualy stick with a setup for a year but when I do upgrade, I try out diferent hardware configs like mad before choosing the final setup.

I think i'll go with door number 1. "Yes, and the beta is now my main OS." Although only because I like the fancy gui graphics. Honestly though, joking aside- Is XP necessary for me? Nope. It's better then what I previously run but still, what I ran for a OS before still did the job complain-free. And besides that, I'm getting sick of buying a new OS every single year, sheesh. But I think i'll snag a cheapy upgrade/promo CD of XP Home Edition or if i'm feeling rich, XP Pro just to add to the collection. And must admit, XP will be alot easier for newbies to use their PC's. I'm all for that. Something else I wanted to note- Funny how my bank and insurance company both still use win95 and win98. I asked them why dont they upgrade to win2k? They both say "Are OS runs and does everything we need already." Just my $0.02

I havnt run any build after 2462. Although i'm downloading them as we speak (66% Completed on 2469 and starting 2474 right afterwards:p) So it would be hard for me to say without running them all. But i'd have to say that after reading the problems people are having with the builds after 2462, i'd have to pick 2462. Everything works here 100% except trying to adjust one games graphics setting crashes the game (Janes USAF) and my scanner (UMAX Astra 3400) isnt supported and doesnt work. Oh yea... I almost forgot to mention I found some other minor bugs, ones in dial up connection where if you get kicked/disconected from the net and click re-connect without closing the window and re-opening it, it forgets your password and another in wordpad I dont feel like getting into right now and a few others. Other then that, i'm lovin' it as my sole OS now. Paid for the RC's and RC1 will be sent to my door.
